Should the deleted scene of Amidala's parent's house been kept in the movie?

I don't remember the deleted scene title exactly but it's the one where Padme and Anakin visit Padme's parents and see her old room and such. I thought that brought a lot of interesting elements to the story and should have been left in. When the shot of Anakin walking outside with Padme's father and talking it made me want to know what they were talking about. I know I'm strange but I wanted to see Anakin interact deeper with more people besides Obi-Wan and Padme.

    I dunno I'm just strange I guess.

Also the shot with Padme, her sister and her mother talking about Anakin and the possibilities of his courtship of Padme was very well done.

Lets not forget the beginning of the scene with the kids running around and playing with R2D2. It was just a well put together scene and it should have stayed.

Anyway, just wanted to bring that up just in case anyone else felt the same way.

I'm new to this board so if this has been brought up my apologies but I did do a search and didn't find anything.

It slowed down the pace of a movie filled with boring Anakin/Padme moments (Fireplace, Field, Refugee Ship).

My problem with that scene is that it doesn't seem like it came from a Galaxy far far away. To me star wars movies don't use real acting, it is a 30s style acting and i think that scene didn't really fit in with the saga.

And as far as the love scenes being boring, I'm glad that Anakin and Padme didn't just Donkey Kong out of nowhere and make Luke and Leia, I thought the love story was very classic and tasteful.

that scene not only weakened the already slow plot, it also wasnt that great IMO.

kids running around giggling in a demented manner, awkard dinner table moments, holograms in padme's room. Meh... lets get on to tatooine shall we?

the platform scene was okay, but this one felt like a star wars version of meet the parents.

I loved AotC, but that was a really bad scene and Im glad it was cut out. Its like Naboo 90210. Truly horrible.

I loved the scene myself. I agree that it should have been cut out for pacing reasons, because it does slow the film down just before the plot surrounding the mystery at Kamino and such pick up. But as a stand alone scene, I thought it was very good. I liked seeing Padme's family, and I liked learning more about her past. I also liked how Anakin seemed generally happy there.

It doesn't have a Star Wars feel to it, but sometimes it's good to have scenes like those.

I personally wouldn't have a problem with the scene being put back in if it could be redone. As funnymeat has already said, it didn't seem very much like it belonged in a Star Wars movie. It did show Padmé in the family life perspective, but it seemed to just blow off from the story and focus on Padmé hormones. I mean, come on. Now i'm not suggesting the whole range of scenes, i'm mostly just talking about the dinner scene. The others suck, i agree with the others on that. The rest is really unneccessary.

I wish it was kept in the movie because I liked those scenes. I actually thought the editing moved a little too fast and could have used some slower scenes. I alos think the final edit shortchanged Padme's character.

I would have kept it in. I would have also used kept the scene where Anakin uses the bathroom and stinks up the place.

I don't like the scenes (except the first shot outside the house, 'cause it's gorgeous). Don't tell us anything vital, and I don't like the performances from Hayden or Natalie in it.

    Rick McCallum loves you!

I'm glad they kept it out because the boring Anakin/Padme scenes made the movie go a bit slow.

I think they should of kept it in and took out the scene on the refugee ship and the one at the dinner table.

Thanks for all of your responses. I'm glad I'm not the only one who felt that way.

I believe they should have gotten rid of that transport scene as well, not needed at all.

LOL Anakin stinking up the place!

Padme had an attractive ensemble on in that scene, and the kids playing with R2 were cute, but no, it didn't belong. It kind of played out like 7th Heaven in the GFFA.

It didn't feel un-Star Warsy to me. We've seen how the other half lives (Tatooine slaves and moisture farmers). Plus, I thought it was a nice contrast to the Anakin-Shmi scenes of TPM. I guess I'm the only one. :(

Well I kind of wish it was in there. It was good to see normal people instead of your normal Jedi and politicians. I liked this scene better than some of the ones that were left in the movie.

I personally liked it, though I agree it slowed down the pace of the movie. But Sith! If you're going to have such a crappy character development for the rest of the movie, at least have something personal and heartwarming!
