Shouldn't we have had another space battle?

Instead of Anakin and Padme travelling as refugees, it would have been interesting if Anakin was supposed to pilot Padme to Naboo, and they came under attack by Jango and a few of his buddies... this would have been an opportunity to show off Anakin's legendary piloting, as an adult.

The only problem is if Anakin was such a good pilot he would have probably killed Jango in a space dogfight and this would mean major changes to the storyline, unless Obi-Wan gets to Geonosis from Kamino some other way.

 

AOTC was full of enough stuff not to actually need a space battle. I think Episode III will give us the space battle we've been wanting since ROTJ. Anyway, the whole reason the OT actually had Space Battles was that it was the only thing the technology of the time allowed them to actually do well. I prefer the ground battles myself: they're far more interesting.

To be thue, we need another good space battle; something ala ROTJ.... I hope that we have one in Episode III but I would hate it to be something like the one in TPM which was a joke.

 

It would be a nice homage to Vader if Anakin piloted his way through hoards of droid-fighters with 2 clone-pilots at his side....

 

I think one of the main reasons AotC did not have a space battle is the parallelism with ESB. Both movies featured the same, a ground battle and a chase in an asteroid field. In that sense, it didn't need a space battle.

What that means is that, to continue this parallelism, EII HAS to have a major space battle.

 

I wish he didn't do that parallelism thing with the asteroids. There is a whole universe of cool locations to choose from, and he chose the same asteroids. Why couldn't the Jango/Obi-Wan space dogfight happen in a new, exciting location?

Ree Yees isn't saying it is the exact same asteroid field. He is saying it is the same kind of environment.

I don't think AOTC needed a space battle. I personally don't really want to see another space battle the size of the ROTJ one because I'd rather have the big grand space battle saved for ROTJ. It doesn't need to be topped. We will see a space battle in Ep. III most likely but I hope it doesn't top the ROTJ battle.

 

I was just about to say the same thing. I think that the ROTJ space battle will be the biggest of the saga. It is really the most important.

We didn't need a space battle in AOTC. We already had enough battle/action going on without complicating it with an Anakin/Jango dogfight.

It would have been pretty amazing to see a battle in a nebula. Kind of what we saw in The Wrath of Kahn.

Yeah, they could draw from the second level in Rouge Leader, and they have to use targeting computers and such to see the enemy fighters...

I was hoping that the battle on geonosis might drift up into space, for exaple, you see the Republic fighters trying to take out the Federation Battleships, as Dooku makes his getaway.

I don't think we needed a space battle at that time. We should of been shown some Jedi Starfighters above Geonosis fighting the Trade Federation.

 

Actually, I think it was a nice parallel that AotC didn't have a space battle. ESB did fine without one. It's easier to concentrate on the action when there isn't so much cutting back and forth between scenes.

Perhaps you're right. While I love the AOTC Asteroid Sequence very much, maybe it would have been cooler if the battle took place in some kind of derelict shipyard, with girders and half-completed ships all over the place. I've always wanted to see something like that. But I'll also happily live with what we have, simply because I think it rocks (pun very definitely intended).

No, the film parallels ESB in this way. There was no major space battle (obi-wan+jango, and han fleeing the star destroyers etc). In both films, there were ground battles-Hoth and Geonosis.

 

Im sure EpIII will surely have a space battle at the beginning of the film, to end the clone wars while I agree AOTC didn t need one.

 

I always wondered how the heck the republic assault ships made it to geonosis without some trouble from the orbiting TF ships. That would have been cool to see.

 

I think that ATOC is pretty complete as it is - although I'm looking forward to Anakin showing off his piloting skills in some way or another during Episode III. It doesn't necessarily have to be a huge space battle though, because like others have said: I'd like to keep the ROTJ battle at it's prime.

I agree with Mara. I don't think AOTC needed a space battle any more than ESB did.

 

I woud have to say that this way of transportaion is cool. I do not feel that another space battle was required. But it would've been cool.
