Hido! This is my second story and my first long one. I posted this in The Saga because even though it starts in Before the Saga, it goes through The Saga and into Beyond the Saga. If I need to move it please tell me and I will (once I find out how to). I'm hoping to get one post done a week. This is a large goal for me since I am a snail writer. Nothing I write is meant to be offensive in any way, and if you spot any errors please tell me.

    TITLE: Simple Gifts

    AUTHOR: padawan-grasshopper

CHARACTER: Se-Vian(Sadie), Obi-Wan, the Temple gang, and many others.

GENRE: Adventure, Drama, a little bit of Humor

SUMMARY: Obi-Wan has a rather interesting twin sister.

    SIMPLE GIFTS

The ship Excavator cruised through space, making its way from the outer edge of the Tingle Arm towards Coruscant. A few parsecs from Belkadan it slowed to a stop, confusing the passengers. Just outside the med bay, a lanky man with a severe face stood waiting. He was not kept in this state for long before he was joined by a prominent woman.

?We are stopped a few parsecs from Earth,? she reported.

The man looked at her skeptically, ?And you gave the captain his reward??

?Of course. He has received six hundred and fifty credits for his troubles.?

?Good,? the tall man looked around, ?Where is Tensioh??

?Right here, Sir!? a stubby Rodian ran towards them, clutching a small bundle in his arms.

?You?re sure that this is a decent pick??

Tensioh nodded, ?She?s one of a set of premature human twins born about ten ago. She?s sickly, but with the proper care she can be made to look like any other newborn.?

?She?ll do,? the woman said after looking the infant over, ?What have you told the parents.?

?They have been assured that we are doing all we can, but that she will most likely not make it.? The Rodian paused, ?I still don?t see why we can?t just snatch any Earthling child for our research. We could tell its parents that it died. It?s much less trouble than switching them, don?t you think??

The other man glared at him, ?We are going to all this trouble because the only Earthling doctors willing to donate a child don?t want their patients to suffer the loss of their baby.?

The tall man held out some money to the Rodian, who exchanged it for the infant. ?Thank you far your help Tensioh. And now I suggest that you go back and tell those parents that they won?t be getting their little girl back.?

As the short medic hurried back down the hall, the two humans headed to the landing bay where they stole aboard a ship and departed from the huge vessel.

Marion Kenobi sighed as she wearily laid her head against the headboard. It had all happened so fast. Just last year her parents had decided to move to a rural planet near the Corporate Sector. They had wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of Coruscant and live their elder years in a calm atmosphere. But about two weeks ago her mother had commed to tell her that her father had died suddenly of a heart attack. She had wanted her daughter and family to come to the funeral, which was scheduled for the next week. Since her family all lived in the same area, it hadn?t been hard for Marion and her husband, Peter, to round them all up. The trip there was hectic, to say the least, and the return trip hadn?t been going much better.

No one had expected the twins would come early, but that didn?t stop them. The Rodian medic had taken one look at the girl and rushed her out of the room. A few minutes later he returned and announced that the child was very ill and that they were doing all they could. It was Peter who had had the courage to ask if she would live. The doctor had told them in a bored voice that he serious doubted that she would pull through. This suspense was only held for maybe fifteen minutes before the medic returned with a plain box in his hand.

?I?m sorry to say that your daughter passed away a few minutes after she was taken into the other room for treatment,? he informed them, not really looki

Killik_Twilight-Thanks for the advice! Glad you're reading!

Marmida-Gald you liked it! Let's just say that Obi-Wan's sister has in interesting personality, one that will probably annoy him.

    KUDOS TO YOU BOTH!!!!!

Yes! Here it is, my sceond post!

    * * *

She reached out to him, but her hand disappeared as it crossed the invisible border between them. Seeing this, she stuck both her hands through, and as they disappeared, she giggled. Her laugh sounded musical, like water flowing down a stream, and yet, it seemed to float on the air across the line that was holding them apart.

She looked just like him, but her hair was slightly lighter and fell in ringlets over her shoulders. Her eyes were also different. Instead of his hue of changing blue and gray, they were a deep, soft brown. Strung across her teeth were pieces of metal and colored bands that he couldn?t guess the purpose of. At least he could tell what she was wearing. Her nightclothes were the strangest he had ever seen, a light green top and bottom with cartoon characters on the front.

She looked up from her game of make-things-disappear and studied him. After awhile she lifted her hand as if to touch the figure across from her and make sure that he was real, but she remembered the invisible wall and pulled it back. She stared at him and he held her gaze.

    ?Who are you?? she asked.

?Obi-Wan.? He didn?t need to ask who she was.

Sadie sat up in bed and shook her head. That had been the weirdest dream she?d ever had. She had been at her grandmother?s for her cousin?s Birthday, but for some reason her aunt had given her little sister a kitten. They had been searching for the kitten in the baby grand when suddenly she had been staring at a boy who looked to be about her age. He looked like some Jedi learner from Star Wars, and the even funnier thing was that he looked just like her, save for darker hair and blue-gray eyes.

She felt a pull towards him, and she had stuck out her hand to him, though not of her own accord. As her hand crossed the midway point between them, it disappeared. The sensation was almost a tickling one, and Sadie stuck her other hand through the invisible field, laughing at the tingling sensation ran up her arm.

After awhile she looked up to find the boy still staring at her. She reached out to touch him again, but remembered the border and instead asked him, ?Who are you??

His only reply had been, ?Obi-Wan.? Then she had woken up.

Sadie ran her tongue over her braces in thought. The boy had looked like a younger version of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Strange that he looked so much like her.

The cold of the night began to seep through her Snoopy and Woodstock pajamas. Sadie lay back down on her bed and settled underneath her multiple coverings.

She definitely shouldn?t have eaten so much candy before going to bed.

As Obi-Wan sat in bed pondering his dream, an old memory surfaced from somewhere in the back of his mind. He had been about five years old when one day he had started to feel something strange from the Force. Baffled, his teachers had sent him to see Master Yoda.

The door to the training room was closed, so Obi-Wan knocked lightly on the cool metal surface.

?Come in you may, Obi-Wan,? the small Master called from within the room.

Gently, Obi-Wan pushed open the door and stepped inside. As he entered the training area the something that he had been feeling got stronger. Obi-Wan pinpointed the feeling to the older human boy that sat on the cot across from Yoda. He was someone that Obi-Wan didn?t recognize, with brown hair, blue-gray eyes, and a striking similarity to Obi-Wan. Furthermore, he gazed open-mouthed at the child who had just entered the room. Even though he knew it was rude to stare, Obi-Wan couldn?t help but do so.

Yoda looked at the two boys knowingly. ?Sensed a disturbance in the Force did you?? he inquired of the younger of the children. Obi-Wan nodded in response.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while. The weather has been great, and I'm not usually allowed to be on the computer (or inside for that matter) on beautiful days.

I'll try to get the next part done before this weekend. We have vacation next week, and I'm going to be very busy.

    THANK YOU FOR POSTING!!!!!

Thanks for hanging in there. This post is a little short, but I just had to finish it before going away to camp.

Obi-Wan struggled through the next morning, preoccupied with last night?s events. The lack of sleep had taken a major toll on his concentration, causing his body to do things his mind hadn?t yet registered.

?Are you feeling okay Obi-Wan?? Bant Eerin asked as she gently guided his hand away from pouring juice on his breakfast cereal.

    He nodded blankly.

Garen Muln looked at his friend?s ragged appearance, ?Yeah, and Coruscant is completely rural.?

?No really, Obi-Wan, I?m serious,? Bant said, ?Do you need to see a medic or something??

Obi-Wan shook his head, ?I?m fine. I just didn?t get any sleep last night.?

    ?Why not??

    ?Nightmare.?

?Well then you must have gotten some sleep,? Garen pointed out, earning a ?you?re not helping? look from Bant.

?I saw her again,? Obi-Wan stared down at his plate. ?But this time she was just floating in the air across from me, and she asked me who I was. It?s almost as if she?s making sure I remember that I?m a murderer every second of my life.?

?You know that?s not true,? Bant said. ?Just because your twin sister died at birth, and you didn?t doesn?t mean that you killed her!?

A gruff laugh came from behind them, and the friends turned around to Bruck Chun standing behind them.

?Yeah right, Fish Face,? he snorted. ?He?s practically got ?baby slayer? written on his forehead!?

Bruck?s entire table snickered at this remark except for Siri Tachi, who didn?t look amused at all.

?Hey,? Bruck continued, ?the Oaf was so clumsy he killed his sister!?

A large set of guffaws erupted from the students as Obi-Wan?s face turned a deep shade of red. This was too much for Siri, and she marched up to Bruck with a bowl of pudding in her hand.

?Shut up,? she told him. ?You?re not funny.?

Bruck whirled her, ?Looks like Sissy Tachi is standing up for Oafy-Wan the Baby Slayer!?

?Stop it, Bruck, or I?ll throw this pudding in your face!? Siri said as she stomped her foot in indignation.

The considerably taller boy laughed in her face, ?Ooh! I?m so scared!?

Faster than he could blink, Bruck had pudding dripping down his face, and in a few more seconds the entire dining hall was involved in a mass food fight, though the kids weren?t really mad at each other. The chance to hurl food was just too good to pass up, and no one was having a better time than Reeft. The Dresilian was having a field day as food came raining down all around him, and Garen was attempting to sling food into his friend?s mouth.

In the midst of all the chaos, Bant lead Obi-Wan to the door to the hall.

?I?m sure that as soon as you stop believing you killed her, the visions will stop,? she said. ?In the meantime, go ask Master Yoda about that ?special box? your father mentioned.? The Mon Calamarian gave him an encouraging push out the door, ?Go.?

Leaves crunched under Sadie?s sneakers, the wind blew any hair that had managed to escape her two braids away from her rosy cheeks. As she balanced on the edge of the sidewalk, the eleven-year-old began to whistle tunes from Broadway. Of, course she wasn?t very good yet, so she often missed a few notes. It didn?t bother Sadie that the ?Andy Griffith Song? was the only thing she had down pat. She was a quick learner and would get the hang of whistling soon enough.

Sadie stopped in front of the library, and as she turned to walk up the front steps, something caught her eye. It was a nickel nearly buried in the leaves. Sadie smiled to herself. Five cents could buy her a piece of gum, even if she did have braces. Clasping the coin tightly she turned and headed over to the general store across the street.

As she walked through the door a set of hanging bells began to chime, announcing her presence. The cashier looked up and gave a friendly wave, which Sadie returned. Since she had lived in the small town for five years, there was barely anyone she didn?t k
