I'm looking for some single volume graphic novels and manga books but I'm having problems finding them. I know of Watchmen and I have one called 'Bus Gamer', which is pretty good. Can anyone recommend any more? I'm not really looking for anything in particular, but if I know what to look for I can always check it out.

We3 by Grant Morrison - A dog, cat, and rabbit escape from the lab where they were turned into cybernetic killing machines with rudimentary intelligence

Pride of Baghdad by Brian K. Vaughan - Insipired by the true story of a pride of lions that escaped from the Baghdad zoo in 2003 during the war. Think "The Lion King" meets "Black Hawk Down".

Ooh, I have actually seen We3 in shops before, and it does look tempting. I didn't know it was just a single volume though. I'll have to get it. :)

In addition to those listed above, just a smattering of good titles:

Shooting War by Anthony Lappé and Dan Goldman - http://www.amazon.com/dp/0446581305/

Cairo by G. Willow Wilson and M.K. Perker - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1401217346/

Demo by Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1401216218/

Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi - http://www.amazon.com/dp/0375714839/

Heaven's War by Micah Harris and Michael Gaydos - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1582403309/

The Umbrella Academy by Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba

The Alcoholic by Jonathan Ames and Dean Haspiel - http://www.amazon.com/dp/1401210562/

The Compleat Moonshadow by J.M. DeMatteis

Some that aren't single volume but aren't that many volumes yet either: Joe Casey's Gødland, Ben Templesmith's Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse

How is Umbrella Academy? I read the Free Comic Book Day issue this past year (or was it the year before?) and it seemed interesting.

The Other Side by Aaron and Stewart. Vietnam war story.
V for Vendetta by Moore and Lloyd. Better than the movie of the same name.
Wanted by Millar and Jones. About a man who discovers he can be a super villain. Far better than the movie of the same name.
Desolation Jones: Made in England by Ellis and Williams. Technically, I think that Ellis wanted to do a series, but this is really all that was done (I'm not sure the second arc even finished). A British spy in California, searching for one of the most bizarre McGuffin's ever.
Bone by Smith. Not personally a fan, but it's one of the best stories out there in comic format by most peoples measure.

Superhero done-in-ones I recommend (should be available as one self contained hardcover or trade paperback): Planet Hulk, Green Arrow: Year One, Batman: Year One, The Long Halloween, Superman: Red Son, Marvel 1602, Marvel Zombies.

I've got The Umbrella Academy and Watchmen! :D

I've not read Watchmen through yet, but I read a few pages here and there. I've read The Umbrella Academy through and really liked it. I didn't realise it was written by the lead singer of My Chemical Romance though. There's a second series coming out soon, though I'm not sure if I should get the comics or wait for the TPB.
