I've been trying to find patterns for a sith/jedi cloak & I can't find anything online. Do you know of any good patterns that I can get? (I'm trying to make a female sith costume)

There really aren't commercial patterns specific to what you're looking for. I think McCall's or Simplicity had a "jedi like" pattern out a year or so ago. If I were you, just get a cloak pattern and make the necessary adjustments in shape and length to suit your needs. You can lay the pattern on newsprint paper or that heavy brown paper used for shipping, trace it out and then make changes with a good old-fashioned long ruler or yardstick and pencil. I make my own patterns and sometimes just drawing with rulers and french curves is the way to go. You get a custom design that way. If you do draft your own pattern, make a sample out of cheap fabric to test your idea and try it on. Don't forget to leave 1/2" for seam allowance on all sewn sides, plus enough length for at least a 1" hem. Hope this helps!

A French Curve is a drafting tool used by dressmakers and tailors to make patterns. There are a variety of shapes and sizes used for different purposes. Some are for armscyes, some are for hip curves and others are for necklines. You can find French Curves at your local fabric store or specialty sewing supply store. They are an invaluable tool for pattern drafting. Can't really work without one.

You can't find anything online? Has the Star Wars costuming web really degenerated that much since I made my costume? I hope not.. I found everything I needed online.

A basic midieval cloak, like the one used by Luke in Return of the Jedi (and some prequel Jedi) is very simple.

The cloak is a semicircle of fabric. The neckline is cut out as a semicircle. The fabric you use needs to be as wide as the length of the cloak though.
Make the hood from a rectangle of fabric. Fold it over and sew one side.
You will now see that the hood is larger than the neckline. That is all right. The hood should be pleated where it is attached to the cloak. I first pinned it and then ironed it before it sew it on. It is customary to hide the neck seam by sewing a strip of fabric over it, but other ways are of course possible.

This is an All-In-One French Curve (regular ones will be simpler):

    [image=http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v31/Sith_Haldir/Misc/french_curve01.jpg]

Cloak is very simple to do as can get away with the full-circle or semi-circle patterns as DARTHLARS recommanded. But be warned that semi-circle will ended up looking like the LOTR Fellowship Cloak (half-open) so to get one that totally cover your front, need to do at least 3/4 or better still, full circle (2 semi-circles sew together). If not, just go to your nearest Walmart, Joann, Spotlight etc to get any McCall's/Simplicity, Butterick/Burda Cloak patterns and they tend to be shaped ones.

If interested in robe, then same thing. Either check out the Jedi/Sith costuming pages recommanded in the Tutorial List or get one of those commercial patterns and modify them before using them to suit your needs.

My gosh, did you use Google and couldn't find anything???

Do you mean cloak or robe? A cloak has no sleeves. The standard Jedi in Ep I-III (Obi-Wan, Mace, Qui-Gon, etc) wear a robe, with sleeves.

Padawan's Guide has lots of info on making Jedi costumes

Amber's Jedi Mediation Chamber Robe directions has directions about adapting a cloak pattern into a Jedi ROBE.

Thanks! I was looking for a cloak pattern. To be specific: a highwayman style cloak, or a ghoul style robe that I could modify.

The first on the left or the second on the left (the small one)

    OK, understand.

There is Simplicity 5794, top left, which is a cloak

or 5840, top right, which is a robe with sleeves

    McCall's 4550, a somewhat more Victorian version
