Three questions: How much is the Skywalker wine valued at? Also, how long can one wait on the Chardonnay before it goes bad. Lastly, I could only get 1 bottle, so how's the wine?

There is a Skywalker wine? So is this a joke or is George Lucas finally over-martketing Star Wars?

It's no joke. It's for real. On his Skywalker Ranch, Lucas has a vineyard where he makes his own wine. Now, I cannot remember what the actual name of the wine is (it's in Italian), but it literally translates to "Sky Walker".

As for price and all, I'm not sure.

I'd say as for the freshness, I don't see why it would be different from any other wine regarding the shelf life.

    EDIT:

Just found the actual name of the wine. In Italian, it is Viandante del Cielo, which literally translates to "Walker of the Sky" or "Sky Walker". And it is $30 a bottle.

Considering what some folks will pay for wine, that's not all that bad.

I wouldn't mind having a bottle each of those.

I have 2 bottles of Skywalker Ranch Chardonnay. The name of the wine is Sky Walker in Italian or something. I bought them for $30 each..which is kind of expensive IMO. I haven't tried it yet either.
..so as to the "value" of it.. I would say it's worth $30. It really has no ties to Star Wars whatsoever, except that it came from Skywalker Ranch.

    Whatever.

EDIT: Oh.. I think if you store any wine properly.. it doesn't ever go "bad".

i'm not a wine expert, but i do enjoy a nice dry red. anyway, be sure you store it laying down so the cork doesn't dry out. it's not the best for display purposes, but if the cork gets dry air gets in the bottle and ruins the wine.

^ Rebelwookie is correct. If you are going to display it, make sure the bottle is leant back so the cork is kept wet by the wine.

    >> Oh.. I think if you store any wine properly.. it doesn't ever go "bad".

Cork taint effects about 1 in 10 bottles of wine, regardless of how you store it. Wine definitely does have a shelf life. Chardonnay is best drinking 3-6 years after the year on the label (the vintage). But if you are buying it as a collectible, then you'll never need to worry that the wine inside has passed its best, cause you won't ever drink it. ;)

    I prefer Skywalker Whine, myself.

Actually, I don't drink, so looks like I can
save a little money here. Now, if they ever
decide to bottle some "Official" Tatooine
    vaporator water, count me in!

I love wine. It would be cool to get ahold of some future vintages of this...

i don't ride a bike, but i've got two star wars bike helmets! :p

but having said that, i don't think this is a "must have" for my collection. unless it appears in Episode III...maybe anakin and padme will enjoy a glass of skywalker chardonnay over a candlelight dinner. yuk. i'll bet the dialogue would be worse than AOTC.

    LOL! [face_laugh]

BTW, if you drink too much of the wine, might
I suggest putting on one of the helmets for
    saftey!

I may not know much about Skywalker Wine, but
I have been known to enjoy a nice Skywalker
    Whine on occasion.

I find that a nice "But I was going into Toshi
station to pick up some power converters!" 77
    vintage goes great with a nice filet 8-}

Also, if anyone wants some "Official" Star Wars
Blue milk, I am about to eat some Boo-Berry cereal
before heading off to work. I will be bottling
the milk and selling it for $9.99 plus applicable
    sales tax ;)

Problem is, they are only allowed to ship to certain states by law...so if you aren't in one of those states, hopefully you know someone who is to whom you can ship them to.....if you're lucky to get an order in.

For years I've tried to find a wine that I enjoy and I guess I just don't have a taste for it. Even the so-called "sweet" wines all seem tart to me. I must not have a cultured palette.

I would've been interested in at least trying this wine, but they don't ship to NC and I'm not interested enough to go through the whole ship-to-a-friend then ship-to-me deal.

Anyone know if this new batch is already sold out, or if the Pacific Coast time just hasn't opened for business yet.

The reason they can't ship to some states has to to with the law in those particular states.

    woo-hoo! I got 2!

Course, the person I'm having it shipped too in Illinois wants an empty bottle for her handling it, but that's fine by me. :D
