i didn't have much luck searching for this, so i hope it's fresh.

did anybody else notice the design of the "worker bee" ships in the kamino cloning facility? they were very, very similar to the Slave I.

so i guess the slave I is of kaminoan design?

It does seem that the Kaminoans provided Jango with his ship, as well as his armour. Why else would the armour for the clones (well, the helmuts anyway) resemble Jango's? And, of course, why else would the "worker bee" ship, as you called it, look very similar to the Slave I?

Dangerous and disturbing, this puzzle is.

In the EU, Jango stole Slave I from the prison asteroid on Oovo IV. It is actually a prototype Kuat Firespray Police Patrol vessel which Jango, and later Boba, eventually modify heavily. The actual stealing of the ship is shown in the Bounty Hunter game. It is one of a few prototypes and Jango blows the rest up as he leaves the asteroid. Timewise this takes place prior to Jango being offered the clone daddy job by Dooku.
As far as Jango's armor goes, the comic series Jango Fett: Open Seasons deals with him becoming an orphan and joining a group of Mandalorians led by Jaster Mereel. That is where he gets his armor.

    That's EU, though.

Why then are the helmuts of the clones similar to Jango's and why does the slave I look similar to the "worker bee" ships seen inthe background on Kamino?

I am aware of the Mandalorian connection and it is possible the clones share similar helmuts in recognition of Jango and his origins, but George seems to recognise some EU and disregard some of it too.

I do believe, however that the Slave I is hinted at being of Kaminoan origin, in the film...

    hmm...

I think I need to go watch AOTC again. I do not remember seeing any ships, besides Jango's and Obi's on Kamino... Does anyone have a pic of those "worker-bees" ships?

It's a Firespray class fighter or something and is actually an obsolete police fighter. Read that in the SW Cross Sections.

Slave-1 also looks like a lamp light and a radar dish. I don't think there's any connection.

And I imagine the clone helmet is based on Jango, not the other way around.

i'll try and get a screenshot of it sometime. it's in the background, when obi wan is inspecting the facilities. i probably wouldn't have noticed it if it weren't for my IMAX viewing of AOTC way back when.

I imagined the same as well, and of course that Jango's armour is Mandalorian, as seen many times in EU comics and novels.

The book Inside The Worlds of Star Wars: Attack of the Clones pictures and identifies the Kaminoan vehicle - it is a single-occupant KE-8 Enforcer Ship. There is a databank entry on it here on TOS.

    Thanks for that info, Fett.

Having read and seen that, I don't think that Slave 1 is of Kaminoan origin...

Still looks way too similar to me.

The KE-8 Encforcer draws attention to itself, it flies into a space between Lama Su and Obi-Wan when they're conversing... It is supposed to be noticed.

I think George disregarded EU and wanted to hint at the similiarity in design between the Enforcer and the Slave I... who knows?

what Zig said. if it's not intentional, that's one hell of a coincidence, that jango's ship and armour both share major characteristics with the clones/KE8 thingy, all from the planet where he lives.

While I agree with Zig that the KE-8 calls attention to itself, and I do see the similarity between Jango's armor and the clonetroopers', I have to point this out:

    1) Jango's ship is older than the KE-8.
    2) Jango's armor was done before there were clonetroopers.

    What does this tell us?
    1) Ships similarities... Well, I don't know. Maybe the kaminoans liked Jango's ship. Maybe they are based on the Slave I design (not the other way around).
    2) Armour: The kaminoans built the CT's armours to be similar to Jango's. I mean, they made the clones similar to him, why not the armours as well? Oh, and one more thing: They are not really that similar. Yes, the helmets do have the little "T" viewplate, but that's about it, I think...

As for the similarities between the things he possess, and the things in the planet he lives... Well, he's only lived there for 10 years, and he brought his stuf with him... I mean, the Kaminoans said that all they are paying him with was Boba and money. They didn't say: "We have him live here because it's more convenient. Besides from his pay, which is considerable, all he asked for was an un-altered clone, a brand new armour suit with all these neat little gadgets, and a beefed up KE-8 enforcer"

I wouldn't put it past Lucas to say that Jango got his ship from the Kaminoans or something. His explanations for things and his stories about the origins of things are always substantially less cool and painfully less interesting that the stories in the EU are.

"1) Jango's ship is older than the KE-8.
    2) Jango's armor was done before there were clonetroopers."

    Where was this indicated?

I think Slave-1 was constructed by the cloners. The design is similar to their KE-8s, as is his armor compared to the Clones' armor. If you've played Battlefront, you'll notice that the jetpacks the clones wear are the same as the second pack Jango wore in Attack of the Clones. Jango also used a poison dart developed on Kamino early on in the film, which is how Obi-Wan(with the help of Dex), was able to find out about the cloners in the first place. I think this was all part of his considerable pay.

Firstly, I do not think that the Slave 1 is based of of the enforcers.

Secondly I don't think that Jang's armour is based off of the clones, I think it's the other way arround.

For the Slave 1, I'll restate the fact that EU says Jango stole it and then heavaly modified it. And figureing out if the Kamionoans made the Slave 1 I would consider EU, since the Slave 1 wasn't mad in the movies, so I wouldn't have a disregard for the EU sources. But there is one obvoius (IMO) reason why the Slave 1 is not Kamionan: It simply is not mad in the Kaminoan architectural style seen in the rest of the movie. The Kaminoans have smooth, steral surfaces, and there are round edges. But teh Slave 1 looks old and dirty (allthough that is probably Jango's fault) and it has sharp corners. If you compare it to the Enforcer, yes, on a very general sence they are similar, but they are not built in a similar mannar. I would just say that George mentioned there were things in the background, and the guys at ILM were just maving some fun.

As for his armour, I'm pretty sure that it is an established non-EU thing that Boba and Jango are Mandalorians. Yet again, it is not Kaminoan style. The Kaminoans use some aspects from teh design in the Clone Trooper armour, but yet again, it is a different style, it is clean and smooth. Also you are accepting the video game source of Battlefront but not Bounty Hunter, I don't get that. And remember, Jango was cloned because he was allready a great bounty hunter, he didn't become a great bounty hunter because he was cloned. And you can see from his fighting style that he is so good because he is so familiar with, and takes advantage of his armour.

I would think so. Even the toy says "Jango Fett's Slave I".

In boutny hunter Jango steals slave 1 from the prison in teh asteroid feild. and his armour was prolly given to him by jaster mareal(spelling) because he was trained by jaster, who was a mandalorian, and the clone armour was prolly designed after jangos because it is light wieght, fairly eficiant and allows much freedom of movement.

    I don't know

    HELLO lo lo lo

    Cool :p

A bit off topic but how big is the Ke8 enforcer (or wateva), is it a fighter, look like a small droid to me

The notes on TOS said that it was a single-seater craft so I would think the cabin is just large enough to fit one Kaminoan. And since it doesn't seem to be designed for use in space, I would think it could be fairly small overall.

what darthbane said. i forgot about the saber-dart.

whether you want to contend that jango's stuff evolved from, or evolved into the kaminoan cloning stuff, it's still stupidly obvious that they are from the same basic design.
