Let's just hope Disney dosen't want to re-release ROTJ while having Leia wearing clothes while in Jabba's Palace.

I can see you are upset but there is no reason to double post. The edit feature exists for a reason, use it.

As to the topic, their property, their rules. If they don't want to license or sell "slave Leia" merchandise that is on them. I honestly don't care either way.

got to admit it is a bit PC, and if true is worthy of the eye roll,

but at the end of the day...meh, you have your DVD's or your blu-rays if you like Leia in the bikini.

My guess? It's for: attire unbefitting a Disney Princess. Seriously, you can't have the collector pack with a bunch of gals dressed in clothes from the Dark Ages, then have a woman who is representative of women fighting against being sexual objects. It's too confusing for young girls these days. They won't be sure to wait for their prince to come and rescue them, or if they should take the chains that bind them, toss them around sexisms throat, and choke it's filthy, slimy, wormy ass to death. Lucas had Carrie Fischer choke Jabba to death with her own chain for a reason. Kinda sends a message, ya know?

Nope, not tired of (most) PC attempts. (Sure, sometimes the PC police get a bit overzealous.) I think it's good folks try to be sensitive.

As to banning slave Leia, that image is so associated with ANH that it seems a bit late to lock that gate.

A bit late? They're about 30 years late on closing the gate after the horse left the stable.

Mon Calamari was a second guess for me ;) Or then again just the sea-side of Naboo ... or even Alderaan ;)

Man this photo - I think I just say an angel of a Disney (even if not exactly official original but still now I'd say Disney Princess) Princess enjoying fine luxury :)

Everyone gets offended by EVERYTHING these days. Just take a gander at Facebook. All you see is people whining, crying, and complaining on Facebook. Everything now a days is about offending people, racism, and sexual preference. Just look at the news. You cant look at a news webpage or watch TV without hearing about 1 of those three. Its a generational thing ... we have a bunch of people with emotions that can't take "slave" Leia because it offends them, or its racial, or sexist. It's pitiful really ...

What is this world coming to when a character from a fictional movie, can't even where a "costume" 30 some years ago, and people get offended by it 30 years later ... Come on Disney .. Really? :hera:

Yep, I couldn't agree more. From an attractive women's perspective in the real world. I have found, that the majority of people who are offended by Leia's slave bikini and attack everyone with hateful phrases such as, it's sexist, demeaning, sexual exploitation etc, are the ones who are very insecure in themselves. They are of the belief that we should be equal (fair enough), but only equal to what they want us to be.
There is a lot more that needs to be said, but I don't want to be attacked by those so called 'hateful phrases'

Look on the bright side boys.... ***Possible Spoiler***
Disney's 'no more Slave Leia' ends any speculation of Leia wearing a slave bikini in 'The Force Awakens'

Funny thing is at the Disney parks, the Star Tours gift shops are selling figures of Minnie Mouse figures in Leia's slave outfit. Also their high end gift shop, the Disney Gallery sells framed prints of Minnie in Leia's slave girl outfit. While I do like Carrie in the metal bikni, Minnie in it is just creepy in that getup like some furry fetish thing.

Here is a playset they sell in both the Disney Stores and the parks.

Last I checked, Ariel wasn't wearing a slave collar, and wasn't being slobbered on by Jabba the Hutt. Not really the same there, Sarge.

Anyway, Lucasfilm / Disney will never fully deep six the Slave Leia outfit, generates too much cash, is too iconic to completely bury. Follow the money.

    =D=

Well said, and a good reason TO keep the bikini around, although I don't know that this is why Disney is no longer using the image in marketing. Merida in Brave was very clear that she would "fight for her own hand." In Frozen, the myth of "love at first sight" was turned on its head. I think Disney is moving away from the damsel-in-distress role for female characters anyway.

The only time I have ever heard about a consumer being "offended" by the image was a father trying to explain a very-detailed Black Series figure to his four-year-old; that Black Series figure is still being sold and that series is more for adult collectors anyway.

I'm with Bardan on this, sell and market with it or don't, I don't care, but the only way we'll find out Disney's reasoning is through a public statement from them or by writing and asking.

I don't think anyone needs to worry about an Ultimate Edition with the bikini scene cut out of ROTJ though.

To be fair, half those characters never wore pants in the first place. :p

Iv'e seen pics of that photo shoot, but never those... err specific pics. Interesting find. :p

Carrie does seem happy here... but then again this was the 80s before the internet, where the most she assumed was some innocent fantasy from some geeky teenagers.

The disturbing fan fics and deviant art probably had something to do with Carrie's recent distaste for the outfit.

Believe me, I've witnessed (ahem) firsthand how some geeky teenagers fantasize. There is nothing innocent about it at all. It is possible they were trying to naturally create fire or were rolling dice. :-B

I think things have gotten a bit too PC in some ways and too extreme in others. I remember a Jack Nicholson quote where he was discussing t.v. and he said something similar to "you can't show someone kissing a breast but you can show them cutting one off." In other words, people might take offense to Leia's slave costume, but find nothing wrong with horrible murders (often young women) that occur every night on network t.v. during times when children can easily see it.
It seems like a double standard.
Anyhow, Leia is a great character with integrity and she gets her revenge against Jabba. I hope that there aren't any more changes to the OT because of Disney trying to be PC. The films have already been changed too much.

Disney have just released the alternate clothing attire for Slave Leia.
It is called a HIJABBA, named by Jabba The Hut himself.
Disney consider this attire more conservative, and appropriate for a desert planet like Tattooine. This decision was made to appease the politically correct, who would prefer that women live in a place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away.
Early reports have been positive, however certain sections of the politically correct are outraged that the eyes are fully visible. In a surprising twist, Disney have warned the politically correct to pray Disney don't alter it any further. The politically correct have issued a statement saying "This deal is getting worse all the time"
