I just wanted to start a post and ask people if they remember this show. It was one of the things I remember watching as a kid, like Knight Rider, The Dukes of Hazzard and Bosom Buddies. I had a major thing for Sledge's partner Dori Dureau when I was ten.

Loved it! Hope the series makes its way to DVD. That's David Rasche as Sledge. Very underrated actor. Anybody ever see him in 1989's An Innocent Man, as the corrupt cop. He was friggin outstanding in it.

This was my favorite shows as a kid. But it's been so long since I seen it I have forgotten a lot about it. Some things I remember was that his gun was HUGE. He kept it on it's own pillow. It had a sledgehammer on the handle.

I remember an episode where he's talking to a guy in a wheelchair as he walks down a ramp and the guy in the wheelchair is going down the steps!

I wish I could see it again I would probably love it more now then I did back then.

Nobody I know remembers this show but me. Was it only on for one season, or what?

Looking back, the show seems really silly, like that show "McGaringle" that the Simpsons watched in one episode.

Didn't the opening to "Sledge Hammer" have him say "Trust me, I know what I'm doing", and then the words "Sledge Hammer" appeared?

I actually remember the font the words were in....

It actually lasted two. The theme music for those opening credits kicked ass. My favorite episode is where the whole precinct had to be quarantined because there was a fatal virus making everyone delusional. Sledge thought his gun was talking to him and Doreau thought she was a jungle woman! The only one who was immune was Sledge's boss, the captain because he had high blood pressure for being angry at Sledge all the time!

"Trust me, I know what I'm doing."

AWESOME show. One of my very favourites..Unfortunately, it was one that i find most kids my age weren't allowed to watch, so i never had anyone to talk to about it..

I remember the episode with the virus. That was great.

Of course, there was the classic episode spoofing Harrison Ford's "Witness", where Sledge went to live with the Many-notes..

Loved the running gag where Sledge would be sitting in his apartment, and he'd pull a pin on a grenade, and then the phone would ring. Sledge would sit there, juggling the grenade for a few seconds before lobbing it out the window and answering the phone..

There's the episode when Sledge went out to rent movies... I can't remember the exact title, but the one he ends up putting on to watch is called something like "The Home Shooting Range", and the entire video is just a targeted shadow-figure with the words "Shoot Me" being repeated constantly.. Sledge, of course, complies by shooting a hole thru his television set.. The punchline: "remind me not to rent that one again"..

    AWESOME show..

Whilst Sledge is in the process of trying to disarm a nuclear bomb:

Doreau: "Go Sledge, Go. GO SLEDGE GO!!"

Captain Trunk: "Go bomb, Go. GO BOMB GO!!"

    Check this out...

I remember several eps. One we find out his parents worked in a circus when he was young, and his father's name was Jack Hammer.

Another one, he meets his idol, who used to be on the force. This man was as crazy as Sledge was. Sledge asked him if he talks to his gun, and the guy said he wasn't that crazy. Sledge got him a job as a security guard at a jewlry store, owned by a man named Smythe. The Jewlry store gets robbed, but Sledge realized that the robber pronounced Smythe name correctly (no one else could in the ep.), so Sledge realized Smythe was involved in the robbery, and the plan was to blame it on the guard.

In another ep, I think we see it in the last ep., we meet his ex-wife, who seems to actually be a nice lady. Though out the series Sledge seems to really hate her, which kind of reminds me of "Last Action Hero", when Schwarzenegger wife keeps on calling him and yelling at him at work.

Favorite Hammer quote:"The Bill of Rights. It stinks." LOL! Did you guys know that Marvel Comics had actually published a SLEDGE HAMMER comic, when the show was on? It lasted only one issue, but the art was pretty good and it really captured the feeling of the show.

Wasn't there an episode with an Elvis impersonator who went around killing people, becuase I seem to remember a pre-credit sequence where said killer attacked someone with a microphone. It's pretty much the only image of the series that lingers with me today,if it is from Sledge Hammer!.

I somewhat remember this show. I just have a hard time remembering specifics. Was such a long time ago, and I was so young back then. Hard to remember it. I remember it was pretty funny, and that he blew up the world.

Thanks, Mastadge. Yep, the first season of Sledge Hammer comes out on DVD this Tuesday, 7/27. I'm really looking forward to getting it. I haven't seen the show on television in well over a decade. Who else is getting it?

My most prominent memory from this series is when Hammer apparantly dies in a nuclear explosion at the end of the first season.

I don't remember how he survived though...

..ha, you know, i had NO clue the show was being released on DVD..

Then, yesterday, i walk into my local ZELLERS (canadian Wal-mart), and there's 1 single copy of the first season sitting there on the shelf..

I watched the first DVD, today.. I can't believe how many of these episodes i actually remember watching!

One thing i didn't realize before today was that DANNY ELFMAN actually did the Sledge theme..No WONDER i've always loved it!

For those asking for a picture of Dori Doreau

I'll report back when I watch them all! :)
