Sliders: Into The Vortex

Just a few days back i was recently watching my newly bought SLIDERS Series 1 and 2 DVD set, I was only a kid when the show started but ive always loved it and dreamed of making a fan film or series based on the show and then the idea came to me! What follows is my plot outline for the upcoming pilot of my fan film/web series SLIDERS: Into The Vortex.

Pilot - Episode 1: Love Gods Revisited.

In 1996 science fiction show Sliders introduced a paralell universe where a virus had wiped out a significantly huge number of the men in the world.

Breeding camps had been set up all over the earth in an attempt to re populate the male species. Quinn Mallory and his friends escaped from one of these breeding camps but still had the facilities security hot on their tale.

Quinn was taken in by a women called (now dont quote me but when i watch the episode again if im wrong i'll correct this) called Diana. She used to run a bakery where Quinn's mother would shop constantly for one of her famously baked coffe cakes.

All Diana wanted was to have a child, Nothing more, Nothing less. Diana's husband had died when the Virus first hit and she was not suitable or pretty enough for the breeding camps. She trie's to pursuade Quinn but he is very objective. In the end of the episode it is slightly suggested Quinn may have infact made love with Diana as she holds a framed picture of him in her arms.

The year is 2012 and the male-less paralell earth is still trying to repopulate, Diana has something that the breeding camps want, Alexander Mallory, Quinn's son.

Alexander know's little of Quinn but all about his Sliding trials and tribulations. To escape the breeding camp authorities Diana decides to emmigrate to Britain where there is no virus and are no breeding camps but before they leave Alexander put's the finish touches to the Quinn of their world's sliding device plans.

Alexander hopes that when he slides, someday, he will come across his true father and know the man he has never met.

Hey, what happened to that other project you had, with John Lennon's guitar and all that?

 

That was finished ages ago! It was all filmed and everything but when it was all said and done i wasnt really pleased with the outcome.

Its lost in the depths of my files now lol. SuperSpy79 i could use you along with any other sliders fans out there etc to read scripts that i have written to see if you think they fit with the sliders universe etc and also if u are good with any SFX then that would be a help lol.

I'm having the theme tune created tomorow. Its going to have the sound of series 4s theme. So hopefully ill be able too post it up on the board soon.

 

Aww, I wanted to see the guitar thing.

 

Well there has been some intrest in going back and redoing it so you never know but right now Sliders.

Shud have the first script completely finished and polished by tomorow.

I'm a fan of Sliders too, but here they only played while I was in school, so I only caught it on days off. All in all I probably haven't seen more than 10 episodes, but I still love the series. It was like Twilight Zone's What Ifs but with a recurring cast and ongoing plot.

In this outline here, I didn't see any signs of actual Sliding, are you going to be using that at all? If not, that kinda defeats the purpose of the series but I can see it still being worthwhile.

Sadly I never fully grasped the bigger plot, but I remember enough that I may be of some help to you. I'd be honored to try and mimic the "slide tunnel" effect or design a Slide Activator prop. I'm also a decent writer, if you can use me.

EDIT: Whoops, I missed the last line about the Quinn of the dying world using Sliding, sorry about that.

 

Hey dude, Thanks for the post. Well Alexander, Quinn's son will be using Sliding in an attempt to try and find his father who he has never met (Quinn).

Itd be awesome if you could try and recreate the vortex effect! Do you have msn i could contact you at or anything? I could also send you the first episode to read over.
