I read in the AOTC novelization that Yoda just stands in place for the first minute of his duel with Count Dooku and lets Dooku wear himself out while Yoda calmly stands there and blocks every cut and strike that Dooku throws at him, after a minute Yoda attacks Dooku quickly and Dooku retreats backwards and Yoda follows by leaping forward after him like he does in the movie, eventually Yoda is doing so well that Dooku is forced to use Obi-Wans lightsaber along with his own to try to hold Yoda at bay but that doesnt work for long as Yoda disarms him of the blue one shortly after.

This happens most noticably in the Comic version of AOTC drawn by Jan Durseema, it really shows what Yoda was capable of doing to his opponents in battle, even against powerfull duelists and fencers like Count Dooku, this also happens in the AOTC Screenplay where Yoda just stands there in place while Dooku exhausts himself before he attacks Dooku and forces him to use two lightsabers to try to hold him off, why didnt George Lucas include this on the AOTC DVD as a bonus? surely this would be reguarded as being better even if it looked a bit silly, there are also publicity photos of Count Dooku holding two lightsabers in a mid air cross too.

Yoda just standing there blocking Dooku's attacks was plan B, should ILM be incapable of having a CGI Yoda fight like we see him do. It was only included the novelization, to stretch things out. Same with Salvatore including both versions of Obi-wan talking to Mace about Anakin's destiny.

Yoda and Dooku's fight was indeed longer, as originally filmed. With Dooku using the discarded blue saber. But Lucas apparantly cut it for time purposes. As to why it wasn't included in the DVD release, your guess is as good as mine.

GL probably wanted to show Yoda as more athletic and stuff so we would respect him more.
I really think Duel of the Fates made Lucas want to "keep up" and hence led him to the shaninigans we saw when Yoda first busted out is saber.
He went soft on the Ani/Dooku "no frills" AOTC duel.
So Yoda/Dooku was the eye candy to continue/rival Lord Maul vs the Jedi Wan/Jinn.

    That is all I think.

the fight would have been better if the Lightsaber duel had been longer than it was. also the novelizations of the movies always include dialogue or scenes that GL didn't show in the film.

I think there should be a thread about all the: Large things that were yanked from Mustafar. As for Dooku and the double sabers, it would have been better than what they threw together for Anakin. Clearly, he looked worthless with two blades.

Geeze, give poor Anakin a break, will ya. [face_whistling]

Poor Padawan just ran for his life in the foundry, escaped slaughter as he slew horrific, giant beasts in the arena, fought off an army of giant gnats, watched 'his girl' take a sand dive off the Clone transporter, only to find himself up against an agent of evil who just happened to be one of the galaxy's best swordsmen. [face_beatup]

His midi-to-blood sugar ratio had to be pretty low by the time he and Kenobi meet up with Dooku, don't cha think? Ani just needed some Jedi Juice and a Milky Way bar to get his energy level back up to par. I-)

    LOL...
I love it Chron, poor nutrition did him in.
Instead of checking his midi's they should have tested him for hypoglycemia.

I liked the way that Dooku rid Anakin of the second blade.

A most distasteful and rather sad display by the foolish boy.

The worst part of the Anakin/Dooku dual was Anakin sticking his arm out so Dooku could cut it off as he slowly spun around.

They should of went with the screenplay for the Yoda/Dooku dual.

Yes. Anakin's technique simply looked shoddy in that duel.

judging by your name[face_not_talking] I doubt that anakin would have been able to impress you even if he had defeated the count. if anakin had not lost the second blade perhaps he would have won the duel...[face_plain]

It's not that Anakin loses it's that the fight choreography and it's execution are awful. All of Clones duels suffer from this.

Right TK-421-, out of the 3 PT movies, AOTC's duels were the worst.

I can't argue with that, TPM and ROTS duels were too good, but the yoda vs. count was better than OB1 vs. GG

Look at Dooku's face even he's shocked that lame move worked!

I'll have to disagree friend,I thought the AOTC duel made Yoda look silly. They should have followed the screenplay and made Yoda look very Pai Mei like in his fight with Dooku.Yoda should never have fought in Clones to begin with. They should have saved his fight for Sith during the Jedis most desperate hour.Anakin more screen time or Mace should have fought dooku.

I liked Obi vs The General,it was interesting and new.

Yeah, but they could have had the stuntman that did his moves do far more complex moves.

Gonna have to agree. I like Chris Lee. It's Anakin's part in the AotC duel that just looks weak. He's holding his arm out just asking to have it sliced off. With defenses that weak, it's a wonder Dooku didn't just run him through (oh, that's right... we still needed four more movies). :p

the OB1 vs. GG lightsaber duel could have been better and a little longer. and yoda didn't look silly, the only thing silly in that fight was his ridiculous battle cry. you mean the Pai Mai from kill bill vol.2?
