Does anyone got any ways to make smoke or steam come out of a costume? Like Fett's jetpack or something.

Perhaps a small battery powered party fogger? Or a normal one converted to battery power?

There are small, battery-powered smoke generators available for model trains. They use oil vaporized by a heat element.
They can get quite hot and must always be held upright or the oil will run out.
This page is the best information page that I have found so far.

I got help looking this up yesterday, for constructing a replica of Gandalf's pipe for my LotR costume. (Thanks, you know who you are :) ) I will not use this method.

My brother used to have a toy truck that poured out steam in a method of evaporating water, but I was never sure how it was done. But I know it was water, which is safer that gas or oil.

I think a party fogger idea is the best.. it won't generate heat and the "smoke" is dry.

Now the only thing is can you find one that is small enough to fit in the backpack and runs off a battery on command.

Edit: Here is a link for one

I thought about this one time, too. One idea was rigging some kind of spray can. What kind of spray can sprays a "clean" and smokey looking blast? What about those cans for cleaning a computer...just air, right?

I like the idea of a slow smoke look, as if he landed recently and it's still cooling off.

Another option would be a fire extinguisher!

I dunno about a fire extinguisher...ABC extinguishers contain a powder that is really suffocating to be around. The liquid ones wouldn't work either...And the Electrical ones freeze anything it touches.

I say a rigged up fog machine as well...I think it's your best bet.

Yeah, I agree with Skaught. The air cans used to clean computers are probably your best bet. You could turn them upside down and rig a trigger system to run up through your gloves. You just have to watch how cold they get. But I love playing with them at work :D

My first thought was the fog machine, but what I want is a "blast" of fog, then that's it. Are fog machines capable of doing that? I've never seen one in person. There's portable ones on the net that you can buy remotes for too, but I don't know if they "seep" fog, or really belt it out.

You could get something custom done, just email a company that makes them and tell them what you want and wait for an appraisal.
