ST So, how is the friendship between Rey, Finn and Poe supposed to play out?

Everything points to Rey, Finn and Poe being the new "big 3" of the ST. So in one way or another, these three will become friends. But other than Rey helping Finn escape, I have not read any single rumor surrounding how the friendship between all three is supposed to happen.

If we look at the OT, the friendship between Han/Leia/Luke felt genuine and real, especially by the time we reach TESB. But even at the end of ANH when they happily walk together, the feeling of friendship is definitely there because of the events they experienced together throughout the course of the film.

In the PT, the friendship between Anakin/Padmé/Obi-Wan is not quite there, and its actually non-existent throughout TPM... Personally I think the friendship between Padmé and Obi-Wan felt less forced and more genuine, for example when Padmé decides to help Obi-Wan in AOTC. Nevertheless, I guess we can take for granted that Disney/Lucasfilm WON'T be looking at the friendships in PT when creating the ST...

I'm just not sure how they will do it this time. Will there even be a romance involved? I have no idea.

There isn't much of one, at least not in this film:

Poe's only real contact / time with Finn is when they escape the Star Destroyer. After that, they go their separate ways. And I've heard nothing to lead me to believe Poe and Rey have any kind of relationship at all, considering how the movie plays out. It's possible they don't even have a scene together.

Finn and Rey have a lot of time together, but it's not true "friendship" per se, at least not on Rey's part. she's somewhat antagonized and stand-offish about what happens. But Finn grows to care about her a bit, and at one point when she goes stalking off, upset about something, Finn goes to check on her to make sure she's okay.

 

The biggest friendship would probably have been between Poe and Kylo before things went bad.

 

We honestly don't have enough details to be certain, but it looks as if it is Finn and Rey who's relationship will develop the most in TFA. Poe is just the cool pilot guy they meet from time to time.

 

Basically this. I think their relationships will develop a lot more in VIII.

I think that trust will be an issue. It might be a grudging friendship between Poe and Finn, with Rey playing the role of referee. Remember, Finn was a stormtrooper so Poe may not completely trust him. The whole thing has an interesting dynamic. I look forward to seeing how it plays out in the film.

 

I figure it'll play out like a friendship between three people.
