...and I've got to say several thing...

    1. Stop worshipping USA.

I've noticed that kids wear NY caps a lot...
It frightens me. Why do you do that?

    2. Increase the safety on construction work. The numbers of death are quite disturbing.

    3. Portuguese cuisine is excellent as usual :p

I love açorda and most grilled fish. Except cod-fish (Bacalhau), I hate that. :p

Of course I also like pasteis de Nata, Tortas de Azeitão and Queijadinhas de Sintra.

That's about it. Sorry for any spelling mistakes...

Heya Omega. :) Hope you had a good time over here. Now, for your points...

1- We do not worship the USA. Those caps are actually cheaper, you can find them at every corner of the streets, stret sellers everywhere seem to be stacked with them. that's why they're so worn by a part of the younger generation.

2- It is too sad, there are really too many mortal accidents in construction works. Sometimes the employers don't provide the necessary safety precautions, other times the workers (un-qualified, many times working for the first time) don't wear them, which is even worse... There needs to be a bigger sensibilization campaing regarding that matter.

3- Of course it is. ;) Except for tripes, those are awful. But you thankfully seem to havce missed them, which is great. Your opinion would change in a flash! :D

I actually don't like açorda a whole lot, it always tastes like water and bread to me (not that I eat it that much) but I sure agree with the pasteis de belém (it's been ages since I've had one, yum!). And cod-fish, well... I once had a big food intoxication due to a dish with cod fish... Let's just say it isn't on my favorite foods anymore. :p

What places were you in, if you don't mind me asking? Was it your first trip?

oh phew, I was almost afraid you were worshipping them :p

    Was it your first trip?

LOL [face_laugh] no not my first trip. I've been going to Portugal since I was 0 :p

I'm half - Portuguese my self and I've family members there so I go there every summer 4 weeks long :D

What places were you in, if you don't mind me asking?

This year I stayed in Seixal (somewhere near Lisboa, across the Tejo) with my family.

I've been to Algarve one day, just to enjoy the beach :p

I also went to Lisboa (of course, where else can you eat the best pasteis de belém :p) Sintra, Obidos and Fatima.

    That was this year.

Bacalhau is good, specially on xmas!! With plenty of Oil! hmmmmmmmm.... with cooked potatoes... hmmmmmmm and more oil... nham nham. :) And some portuguese bread to suck the oil in the end. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm....

Pasteis de Belém (Nata) are very good. :)
You should try also Bolo Rei, but that one only exists on Winter also.

Cozido à portuguesa is also good. (I dont like some of the meats, specilly fat meats. Pigs ear, etc. those i trow out.)

"Bacalhau com natas" is very good also.

One of my favorite dishes is the very common "Bitoque" wich is meat with an egg on top served with fried potatoes and rice, and some Salad.

    ---
About USA, we don't worship USA, but we realise that USA as a much better life level in questions of tech, monthly earnings, and life cost when compared to Portugal.

    ---
Next time, warn us of your comming so that you can show up in one of our lunch mettings in Lisbon :)

Evil I tell you! I'm getting sick eating that each year :(

You should try also Bolo Rei,

Yuk!!! I hate that as well :p

    Bitoque

    I know what a bitoque is :)

If you didn't noticed I am half Portuguese, I even have a Portuguese passport. So...

Well yeah USA is a better country to live in than Portugal, but for example Andorra and Japan is better :p

It's all the fault off Salazar, Napoleon, the 1755 earthquake and that king who banked rupted Portugal

I like cotfish... in about every way I've had it. :p Hate açorda though.... *bleargh*

Anyway... just wanted to suggest that the next time you're here in Portugal, you should let us know, cos I'm sure some of the ppl here would like to meet ya. :)

    Hello Darth_Omega

Those NY caps are everywhere in this country.

For 50 years Portugal was completely ****** up by Salazar and we are still recovering from that **** state!

    Our cuisine is,basically,a low-food heaven(not a bad thing).

I do like Japan, though... (animé & manga fan here :p )

Another reason I like Portugal, they show many animes :p

Compared to the Dutch television they only show the ****** up version off DBZ and the childish anime like pokemon and digimon *shudders* :p

    Lord_Fett I know Portuguese history

haaa did i talk about "Bacalhau à Braz"? Hmmmmmmmm :D

Açorda is good! :) I eat it since i was a little child.

Another thing i like is "Peixinhos da Horta"
"Fishies from the vegetable-garden" (best translation i could come up with). It's not actually fish, the name is because they look like fried fish in shape when it's done. But it's nice to eat... :)

Yeap, Portugal was a great nation...

I also like anime very much. And now we have Hentai also!! :D Me likes hentai... :p

Hentai goodie  hmmm yes yes yes yes HAAAAA!
    OMG I'm a bastard.

I don't know if you can get Sic Radical outside of Portugal... I doubt that.

    It's a shame you don't like bacalhau.

Hm.... Hentai could be better... a *lot* better. It's always tentacles, girls being raped, bondage, dominatrix or maids... (btw, if anyone here would like to see an animé that makes fun of Hentai and a lot of other stuff such as 'Sailor Moon', 'Transformers' and even 'Star Wars'... try to see 'Puni Puni Poemi' (it only has 2 episodes). it's one of the funniest animés I've ever seen... from the same guys that made 'Excel Saga')

I think the only thing that included hentai and I really liked was a manga called 'Chirality', but because it actually has a story (like... in the 3 manga books (over 300 pages total) there's probably 20 pages of Hentai, the rest is story development).

    MTFBWY. :)

Hentai fans? All of them? don't think so... but probably a majority.

Animé/manga fans? Almost all. Unfortunatly it's kinda bad that its a 'fashion' now... Most kids consider DBZ the best animé ever when they haven't seen anything else but what's been transmited here. There are a ton of better animés, like 'Shoujo Kakumei Utena', 'Noir', etc... including some that were transmitted here: 'Neon Genisis Evangelion' and 'Rurôni Kenshin' (another example of an action animé that's better).

It kind of annoys me in a weird way that there's this whole generation that think of themselves as otaku and the masters of animé just because they've started seeing animé with DBZ... I mean.... there were tons of other animé transmited here before ('Saint Seiya', 'Tom Sawyer', 'The Three Musketeers', 'BeHive', 'Saber Rider', etc) and suddenly we have brats saying that it all started here with DBZ... I say... get a life and a TV history book. :p

Sorry for the rambling. I just needed to take this off my chest, I guess. :)

I think it was far worse in the past. It's hardly been transmitted now, only 2 a week on SIC. Normally in the old days it was something like twice a day...

'Shoujo Kakumei Utena', 'Noir', etc... including some that were transmitted here: 'Neon Genisis Evangelion' and 'Rurôni Kenshin'

Never saw them. Last year I watched, Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, Escaflowne and this Outlaw Star. Those are IMHO better anime's then DBZ.

I agree with you on it...

Oh yes! Much better. :) It's a shame I never got to see much of them... Unfortunatly what happened with Sic Radical was that it started with really good animé and then lowered the quality of it. I mean... right now the only decent one is Boogiepop Phantom...

About the ones I mentioned... Utena and Noir were never transmited in Portugal (a shame =\ ), but Eva and Kenshin were in SIC and TVI.

Its too bad that ppl just ask SIC for animé in general and don't complain when they only get crappy animé for us...

    shame on You!
If you are half portuguese. you should know the language!

Ask your fathers to train you. So that they speak to you in portuguese inside the house. That way you will learn. You also need reading practise so that you can then read the subtitles without finding them to fast.

    :)

    Hey, I like DBZ!
The first anime movies i've seen was: Ninja Scroll, Street Fighter 2, 3x3.
