You know. The guy who let Threepio and Artoo's escape pod go. "Hold your fire", indeed.

Do you think the Empire ever traced the whole destruction-of-the-Death-Star thing back to him? If so, how did they punish him?

At the very least you gotta figure they musta busted him down to buck private. That sure must have made him feel bad. Imagine going home and telling Mrs. Praji that you've been demoted to the extreme and sent on patrol halfway across the galaxy, all because you didn't let a guy just shoot something for the hell of it at no financial cost to the Empire.

Or maybe his boss decided to promote him and his incompetence under an extreme form of the Peter Principle. (look it up)

Or maybe the Emperor admired this outside-the-box thinking of "give the Rebels the plans", made him a Moff and used the idea for the second Death Star.

Or maybe he quit the Empire before anyone found out and wrote a book about the whole thing.

    Thoughts?

I could see that, he and a few others he was working with that fateful day are talking later on and one guy is like "Hey Praji, remember that pod you let go? There were droids in it, and they're the ones who blew up the Death Star." Then Praji gets serious and is worried "are you...are you for real?" "Yeah, man, millions dead because we, well, YOU didn't shoot it down." "Oh my God, I signed the daily work order...I told them I didn't shoot it down. Damnit, I'm screwed!" Then he runs out of the room and is never heard from again.

I don't think he was the guy who gave the "hold your fire" command. Praji had a gruffer voice.

Nah, Praji was definitely the one who said "Hold your fire."

I'm betting he got posted to some remote part of the galaxy- maybe just left on Tatooine. That's probably for the best. Considering what's about to happen, I don't think he'd have wanted to be on either Death Star or the Executer.

Sounds like a good idea for an "EU" novel to me!

    How about "Prajis Dilemma"?

If I remember right, Praji was put in charge of the Sandtrooper patrols on Tatooine when they were searching for R2 and 3PO.

Interesting topic. I think the actor who played Praji was stiff. When he says the following lines to Vader:

"Lord Vader, the battle station plans are not aboard this ship. And no transmissions were made. An escape pod was jettisoned during the fighting, but no life forms were aboard."

He put so little emotion to this that my grandmother thought he was some android or robot.

But it's good to know his name. :)

I think it was less stiff/bad acting, more an American actor trying (quit successfully I'd might add) to sound gruff and Nazi like.

And for the records, I think the Sandtrooper at the landing site, the one who says, "There was someone in the pod. The tracks go off in that direction." was Commander Praji himself. :)

That wasn't Praji who said hold your fire. The voices are definitely different. Plus, why would he go from that position on the Star Destroyer, go all the way to the docking bay, board the Correlian Corvette, and find Vader?

No, that was Captain Mod Terrik.

Because I thought this thread was new

    Anway, I like this idea:
"Or maybe the Emperor admired this outside-the-box thinking of "give the Rebels the plans", made him a Moff and used the idea for the second Death Star."
    :D

    oh, and....
    "Everyone has a name."

Maybe he was one of the Death Star laser guys. He was put out there as punishment...

"Hold your fire, huh? Well you just go outside and see how a laser's supposed to be used."

This man was single-handedly responsible for the fall of the Empire and the entire outcome of the New Republic.

Praji, in latin, must mean, doh!
