    Very basically, they were once one species, but they went their separate ways some way back in the Trek history. After that, the Vulcans went with the "no emotion" thing, while the Romulans didn't.

    The way I understand it, Romulans were Vulcans. Because they didn't want to supress their emotions, they left Vulcan.

    Mr. Spock is a Vulcan. they only say it about five hundred times in the show. i don't really know the difference, except that the romulans are more emotional i think.

    also did you know that Mr. spock is the only one of the original cast. in the pilot episode, Leonard Nimoy is the only one from the rest of the Show that's in it. originaly Shatner and everyone else weren't in it........

    I don't know much about ST as well, but I watched First Contact and Wrath of Khan this past weekend and thoroughly enjoyed them.

    I"m ashamed i know this 8-}

    There was a ST:TNG episode called Reunification or something like that guest starring Spock that explained it fully.

    I believe Dani1138 is correct. They're ancestors somehow.
    COurse that one cheesy episode where the TNG crew tries to solve that genetics puzzle says that all the ST races are related deliberatley.

    Yes I watched TNG. I was in college and experimenting. 8-}

    Well, Mr Spock is half-Vulcan half-Human. His father, Sarek (a diplomat), was Vulcan. His mother, Amanda Grayson, was a school teacher on Earth.

    I honestly can't remember if this whole area has been well defined in Trek history or not, but it must be assumed that the split took place long before any of the the series' time periods, since the Romulans have evolved to look slightly different to the Vulcans.

    On a sidebar, what's up with the way the Klingons look in Kirk's show vs the way they look in others. Didn't they look normal (TNG normal) in "Enterprise". Is it just bad makeup in the 60's??

    Do Romulans also live as long as Vulcans?

    I don't think the Klingon thing has ever been explained. The closest I remember Star Trek came to dealing with the subject was in the DS9 'Trials & Tribblations' where Sisko, Odo, Worf, O'Brien and Julian travel back to Kirk's era. They meet some 'old style' Klingons (from the TOS Tribble episode) and when asked about the difference Worf simply says that Klingons don't talk about it. It's left at that.

    Yeah, it was just a make-up change, but instead of making up some implausible plot-line to explain it, they made it into a tongue-in-cheek joke instead.

    Another question...

    If Spock died in Wrath of Khan, how did he become a star of a ST:TNG episode?

    :confused:

    Clone saga?

    he put a copy of his brain waves or something into one of the crew members, and they somehow got him out again, they explain it if you watch the next one.

    His body was brought back to life when the planet Genesis was evolving. THen they reunited his spirit back into him or something along those lines.

    Vulcans live to be several hundred years too. Sadly, Dr McCoy and Scotty were in TNG episodes. And then Kirk was in Generations (not good).

    I don't think *** Klingon thing has ever been explained.

    Yes, it has. I think. *** Klingon's of Kirk's time are just a different species of Klingon. It's like a Chihuahua and a St. Bernard.

    I forget the title, but doesn't Kirk die in one of the TNg movies? i watched it a little while ago. it was about this thread of "paradise" or something going through the universe, and the vilian was blowing up stars so that he could redirect the thread. also in that movie Data puts an emotion chip in his head, does anyone know what movie i'm talking about?

    Basically, do you remember the scene twoards the end of Wrath of Khan where Spock knocks McCoy out, then puts his hand on McCoy's face and says "Remember"? He's actually transferring his memories and everything over to McCoy. When he dies, his body is left on Genesis, but because the planet turns out to be unstable and accelerating, his body somehow gets reactivated as a child (yep, it's a pretty weak storyline). Anyways, Spock's dad Sarek turns up on Earth, and tells Kirk he needs to bring Spock's body to Vulcan, along with McCoy.

    Kirk and co steal the Enterprise and go to Genesis, get Spock (who due to acceleration is now the same age as when he died (convenient, huh? ;))), take him to Vulcan and give him his mind back.
