Okay so I am very interested in this so I wanted to make a poll

I think he’s dead and I think for the story it’s better

I just wanted to gauge people’s opinion.

He should be dead. The emotional weight of the episode furthers that. But I can't help but feel it was just a way to have an impactful end of season.

I think he's coming back, but I believe he should stay dead.

Tech is dead. Obviously. Just like Fives or Jesse. Of course they can't show us his broken, mutilated body. But when Hemlock said "that's all I could salvage," he meant quite literally that. There is nothing left to salvage, but broken bones. And also the train cart fell on top of him. He won't be back.
From reading the interviews with the actors, he is definitely dead. And the episode was definitely played out in the most straight way possible, with the intention that he sacrificed himself and won't be back. Which is why the entire season was so "Tech-centric," so that there would be weight and emotion behind his decision.

Also I hope the poll options make sense.

I think he's still alive. I'm not sure if that's for the best or not, kind of depends how things play out, but I went with that option hoping it turns out to be a good story that makes it for the best.

I think Tech's dead, though I say that decision will be made more on commercial considerations rather than storytelling. S3 may change my mind but beyond the immediate emotional punch, I don't see his death being the catalyst for growing or testing the characters. Hunter's response was "We've gotta give Omega a normal life" - which has been his thing all along. Omega turns on the fountain but then fiercely acts to protect her found family - but that's always been her response. Despite what some are saying, I don't see this as the "ESB" of TBB (or even the equivalent of the Rebels Season 2 finale) where no main character died but nevertheless, long standing convictions of main characters were challenged and questions were left on how this would change them going forward.

So my vote would be (if the choice existed), "Tech's dead but I don't think it's better or worse for the story whether he recuperates."

That we are even having this discussion is one of the biggest disappointments of recent Star Wars for me.

Oh I agree. Characters need to stay dead when they die. The only exception of course are force ghosts. Tech staying dead makes everything that much better.

If I were to vote objectively, I would have picked the second option (dead & better for the story). However, my heart does not allow me to be objective when it comes to Tech, so I am voting that he is alive and that is amazing[:D].

Please don't. I'd hate to dilute an otherwise impactful sacrifice.

    As I said elsewhere:
I know the LOTR parallels in TBB are a bit of a running joke, but I stand behind my prediction. Plus Tech is the cute one, so he can't die.

He's dead and it's better for the story. As it's been discussed, Phee obviously harbors feelings for him - and it was expressed as much before he left her on that fateful trip. You'd imagine the gang would make it back to the island planet and one of the clones would be the bearer of bad news to her; after watching her eagerly waiting for Tech to leave the shuttle.

No, I think it was an interview with the actress who played Omega. Granted, the actors don't know everything and they are just given the scripts two weeks before recording, but still. I think the intent was to have Tech dead.

But yeah, it's rather stupid that we even have to consider the possibility of him living. Star Wars went too far in a few places [face_devil]

A lot of definitive statements to say he is dead in here but the feeling just isn’t there for me. It all happened to fast and kind of moved on to quick to have a feeling of finality. I think we will get an answer one way or another very early season 3.

Like perhaps if this was the first time Star Wars was bringing someone back I would be more open to the idea, but my mind was made up. The writers would have to be stupid to waist that sacrifice.

Tech is my favourite TBB character, but even I think he should remain dead. His death had impact and bringing him back would ruin that. Besides, his skillset largely overlaps with Echo's, so it gives him a chance to shine.

Sad as it is, Tech should stay dead and it's better for the story. I am afraid he'll be alive given the track record and it's going to take good execution to pull off the fake out. I don't doubt that can be pulled off if they put some The Clone Wars writers behind it. He pretty much would have to come out by some miracle perfectly ok because they can't maim him and bring him back. Echo, my favorite of The Bad Batch already suffered a fate worse than death.

yah I don't see how someone survives this even with Star Wars rules. Maul and Palpatine were Sith Lords, c'mon.

Unless Tech managed to fashion a flying gadget from the falling debris while tumbling thousands of feet and only happened to lose his goggles which was the only thing the Imp found. Okay, I take it back, that would be kinda cool

Absolutely! Another possible parallel is the fall of Gandalf in the Mines of Moria. I expect that he will return wiser, stronger, and even less emotional:). It will be funny if they recreate the reintroduction of Gandalf with Hunter, Wrecker, and Echo performing the roles of Aragorn, Gimly, and Legolas.

One of the reasons I think he may stay dead is this. If he comes back you have to assume he has to be injured. But the team already has an injured clone. One which was already pretty similar to Tech.

Difficult poll to vote on, but I have to go with: I think he’s alive, but I wish he was dead.

I like Tech, but I don’t want fake-deaths mucking up the show, so I’m hoping they haven’t done that here. However, the suddenness of his departure combined with the conspicuous lack of body makes me suspect they’ve done just that. But I might be reading too much into it because I had expected Crosshair and Senator Choochiee would be on the chopping block before him.

If he really is dead, I can respect that decision, though I would have written it differently if given the chance. I like that the show should have stakes, that we should feel characters are in peril.
