Pretty good. Too bad u never had enough time to work with us. [face_thinking]
I like the lighting on the models. It's all good except... maybe.. just the first
few seconds on your approach. Usually they do things from "another craft" perspective.
And that includes the angle you approach, speed, etc. It seems kinda fast. And the rotation
seems funny with the way the background moves too. It all affects perspective and the scope of things (or size, distance, speed, spacing).

Very cool. I concure with zoo. Lazers, explosions, engine glows, look great. Wanna see more camera movements, but is a WIP so I'll shut up.
    Keep it coming.

C'est pas mal mais ca manque un peu de dynamisme, surtout le second plan statique. Le Ywing qui passe devant la camera a une drole de trajectoire. Et puis les glow des chasseurs sont trop gros. Voila, de rien.

    {This is not poorly but ca lacks a little dynamism, especially the second static plan. The Ywing that passes in front of will drug it has a trajectory drole. And then the glow of the hunters are too big. Voila, of nothing. }

Very nice display of your Calamari cruiser! Lighting looks really good!! How did you set it up?
Your effects look good too! Allthough I'd probably loose the Lensflares on the engines of the fighters in the second shot... but that's just me.

About that Blokaderunner, is it me or is it way to big in the first shot? In the second shot it looks about right. It might benefit from a little more engineglow too.

Overall I like it alot, makes me want to see the rest of the scene!!

    That's an awesome work!

What program did you use? I'm trying to make a similar animation (well, scenes placed in the battle of Endor), and every hint is welcome... :D

Is the rebel transport model from SciFi3D? I downloaded one, but I will have to work hard on its textures...

Wow, that's the kind of animation I was looking for... :)

Mostly cool. The thing that bugs me most is the laserbolts...They look to flat and hard in places. Appart from that it was pretty good work, and I hope to see more soon ;)

I thought it looked really well. It's original, and your vision is yours, you do not have to PLEASE anyone, the animation was smooth, no jerkiness, etc. The glows were a little strong IMHO, but again, its yours so ...

I'm currently into my 3rd month of research, techniques, writing, practice tests for my short FF. I think yours is great, Keep it up, man!

Ok, here is what I think---It looks good--very good, but here are a few things I noticed:

The lasers look very thick, maybe they should be skinnier.
    Too much lens flare.
The Y-Wing manuevers too fast--it's a slow ship and wouldn't be able to pull that off.
When the camera is close to the explosion at the beginning by the MonCal ship, the explosion stays in frame too long--at like the 7-8 second mark, make it fade go out of view quickly after that.
At the end, Why does the Blockade runner shoot at the MonCal ship? Aren't they on the same side? Along with that, the blockade runner looks like it's low-poly or something--I don't know it doesn't look right.

This is some very good-looking stuff... I'm wondering what your render times per frame are...

Not knowing much about fixing scale issues when it comes to background things, the only things I can bring up are camera movements.

What I seem to love (Pixar does this a lot) is you want to animate the camera as if it is either being operated by a person, or on some sort of crane. Now, I'm not saying that you need to go hand-held or anything as radical as that, but you want to choose a object that is the focus of the shot, and stick with it. Your first and third shots seem to be planned like that, but the others seem less focused. The second one, for example, seems like its focus point is the stars just below and to the right of the Mon cal ship.

The fourth shot is pretty good, but seems to stop moving arbitrarily... you might want to keep it moving (however slightly) until the cut. Whenever that shows up.

But otherwise, I really love what you have here! Can?t wait to see more shots!

    It's very good :)

only thing is that first explosion.....it's too long and at the ned looks fake....(you can look trogh it then)

but very good.....I would also wonder what your render times are....

(and i'm always asking myself ......how do you guys make lasers.....(objects, particles....???)

This is cool, Bert. The thing that stood out to me is in the first few shots, the capital ships are moving at the same speed. I know there's a shot in ROTJ where the smaller ships are faster than the Mon Cal cruiser. And scale seems to be off on the big ships.

But I like the starfighter shots. The BWings move really natural... and your sound mix is cool too.

I've never tried it, Bert, but I'm thinking of making the laser shots using spherical and stretched visible lights instead of tubular ones, to make the beams more spiky and less thick...

I will try it to see how it looks.

    Hi again...

Bert, could you please tell me what motion blur parameters did you use?

I'm adjusting them on my animation, but I have to wait a lot to see how each change is working... :(

    Thanks.

Just wanted to add, for those who wonder what are the differences between Image and Object motion blur, Image only apply a blur filter on the final image, afeter being rendered, while thing are blured during render in Object mode. I rarely use the Object mode because it take far longer to render. But when using Image mode, the alpha channel isn't affected by motion blur, so it may create problem if you render is going to be composited. It is also necessary to use Object motion blur for a specific object, when you apply a video post filter to it. Because filters like Glow use object's alpha channel, and if the object is blured, but the alpha is not, you get weird results.

Besides the scale of the corvette, and the uneccesary flares on the engines and stuff that has been mentioned, the Y-Wing's quick whip around at the beginning was awkward. But the number one thing that stood out to me was the lasers. Others have given some suggestions, and I will give mine. Make a flash of light in your 3d program right as the laser shoots and right as it hits. Explosions should cause lighting to change too. That's what gives your explosions the feeling they are actually on the ship. Just place a lamp where it is shooting and time it with when you want the lasers to shoot and the explosions to happen. Also, I would grab a few frames of the ROTJ space battle and try to copy their lasers. They don't have that bright white core, and I kind of like the classics better (maybe it's just nastalgia (sp?)). Lastly, I absolutely love the tie-fighter that get's hit at the end and spins off, sparking all the way, and explodes. I just loved the way it looked. This is really good, it's close to being great, so camera work, and some work on the lasers, and a few other tweaks and it will be there.
