“And we couldn't see that delivering that Nerf had us leaving in a hurry because that gang appeared.”

Tim Kirwin was looking at his right shoulder. No it wasn't there anymore. His long padawan-braid was severed yesterday by his master after the beautiful ceremony that had him becoming a Jedi-knight. He was about to enter the main office of the intel department when he heard master Craddock.

“Yes Ker. You have raised Tim to become a spy and he sure is a worthy member of our department but you know.”

“You are old and I know what the council had said.”

“I am willing to retire because I have a new chief and that's you.”

“Not my friend Jodi?”

“No. He just likes to go on missions and you are more the one to give those missions. And...”

“Master Yoda asked you?”

“Yes. He asked me to retire and appoint you as the new head of this department. And...”

“There is Tim.”

“Congratulations Ker.”

 

Asked him, Master Yoda did? And now Ker is head of the Spookies.

 

I think it's great that you're focusing one of your Olympic decathlons on Tim Kirwin! The comedy in your Tennis Match made me smile; reminded me of those scenes in the Bond movies, where Q would lament Bond's treatment of his vehicles and equipment. Appropriate for Jedi spooks! I also liked that, even from a distance, Yoda knows what's right, and is helping guide the promotions within the department. His wisdom has been there all along!

Two Jedi Knights were sparring. Green and blue were clashing together. The contrast between the two men couldn’t have been greater.

One was sporting white hair and a pink skin and reddish eyes and he was dressed in a clean white outfit.

The other was hairy. Black hair was everywhere on his face leaving only cheeks, nose and forehead free and he was wearing a brown cloak.

“Jeki Eki and Chenbi Junno are again training.” Tim was sitting at a bench in one of the dojo's.

“Just like they do each year for the upcoming tournament where initiates are coming to hope to be chosen as a padawan. And coming to this.” Ker Zomorian halted. “I like to have you organising the next tournament. You have seen me doing this since Bret Craddock had me following him as head of the Intel department.”

“I accept.” Tim saw Jeki Eki and Chenbi Junno ending their fight and coming towards the bench.

“Milliseconds and millimetres do matter hmm Chenbi.”

“Yes Jeki Eki and that's why we are good at this. Ker will be proud when we win. You hosting the tournament again?”

“No. Tim will organize the tournament. And you and you can help him.” Ker said.

“Supplying him with droids and have the techies muttering about the destruction.” Jeki Eki said. “That's why I prefer the holographic droids.”

“Just do your thing and I will be happy to organize this.” Tim stood up. “See you tomorrow. You two have to open the tournament after Master Yoda has done his thing.”

Tim was sitting with Ker Zomorian in the tournament salle when he saw Master Yoda standing up.

Master Yoda stepped forward and began with a solemn voice “Jedi Knights defend. Jedi Knights defend the innocent. Jedi Knights defend the helpless. Jedi Knights defend each other.” He ignited his lightsaber, threw it up in the air.

The lightsaber whirled and whirled, came to a control-box, whirled through the line, whirled further and descended with a bow and came to rest again in the Master’s hand.

Chenbi and Jeki Eki were in the middle of the ring.

A blue and a green lightsaber ignited.

Two holographic droids were floating down on their repulsors and firing blasterbolts at the two Jedi Knights.

Blue and green were swirling.

Blue and green were protecting.

The two droids ended their program and were gone.

Jeki Eki and Chenbi bowed and left the ring passing Master Dooku and his padawan Qui-Gon Jinn.

Vlad Dooku and Qui-Gon bowed after coming into the middle of the ring.

A stern look.

Qui-Gon nodded. He had to wait.

Lightsabers ignited.

“That's Vlad Dooku.” Ker muttered when he saw the master pushing Qui-Gon in the path of the blasterbolt.

“Learning the hard way.” Tim said. “But padawan Jinn was able to deflect one bolt after being hit.”

“But his master is for the glory. Look he wins. And padawan Jinn will have some stern lessons. I don't envy him.”

Tim was happy. No complaints from the techies. No real droids were used and he was smiling when he saw a young boy getting the attention of one of his friends in the Intel department.

“Master Sonnie is looking for a new padawan.” Ker saw it too.

“And yes. He nods to that boy. Who is he?”

“Magin Bhik.”

 

Why am I not surprised Dooku would push Qui-Gon in front of a bolt, just to teach a lesson.

 

He is Dooku after all.

“This is the office of master Zomorian and this is the caf-machine.”

“And where is the sugar?”

“Patience padawan. You and your sweet taste.” Nin Sonnie saw the door opening to reveal Jika Bale and his padawan Ken Zamay.

“Nil. You are a padawan. Nice to see that.”

“And he is my padawan.” Jika Bale said. “Is master Zomorian in? He has sent me a message.”

“The door to his office is closed. He must be.” Nin Sonnie said.

Jika Bale knocked on the door.

“Enter.”

“Jika and Ken?” Tim Kirwin turned. “You are sending me with them to Corellia?”

“Yes, both have been to Coronet City because Jika wanted to show Ken where he was found by you and Nin.” Ker said.

“Nin was there too. Why not him and his new padawan?”

“You have been with me often to Coronet City. And that's it. Again a simple mission to collect files from CorSec.”

“Ok. You two ready?”

“We are and can we get the JES744?”

“I will contact master Sageon and Jeki Eki.” Ker said. “And be careful with the new freighter.”

“We will.”

 

The office and the coffee machine. Both equally important. I wonder who will scratch the new freighter?

Jeki Eki was busy in his workplace when he saw his friend L'Lacielo Sageon coming in and guiding a cart with collected parts. “Something new L'Lacielo?”

“We can use it for an update of our new freighter after Tim Kirwin has come back.”

“He should be back today.” Jeki Eki took one of the parts from the cart. “This can be used for the JE746. It's old but I saw Nin and Nil today when they delivered the freighter in the hangar.”

“And Nil departed immediately?”

“Yes to Serinka with his master muttering about the sweet taste from Nil.”

“And where is Ker?” Tim Kirwin came into the workplace. “I just came in and saw the JE746 in the hangar being serviced by master Maurishka.”

“JES745 is without damage Tim?” Jeki Eki asked.

“No damage. The files from CorSec are being delivered to the archives by one of the droids.” Tim said. “I didn't want to encounter madame Jocasta Nu. And that brings me again to this. Where is Ker?”

“Nin will have that knowledge.” Jeki Eki said. “I was in the hangar when they came back but saw Nil running to the elevator with Nin chasing after him.”

“Serinka?”

“Yes Serinka.”

“Time to get there before Nil has left no fruitpie for me.” Tim left the workplace, entered an elevator and ordered “Serinka.”

Nin Sonnie and Nil Monwa were in the restaurant with Nil busy with his fourth jiraberrie-pie and Nin shaking his head when he saw Tim Kirwin coming to the counter.

Tim didn't order a pie. A cup of caf was on his tray and that was it.

“You are back and in good health.” Tim sat down at the table. “But where is my old master Ker?”

“The council ordered Ker to retire after that disastrous mission where Nil got mauled by a Jekhound.” Nin said. “Jika Bale is the new chief of our department.”

“Ker took me from the clutches of Vokara Che and took me and Nin to Lingala. We had swims with the Lingalans.”

“Ker decided to stay after a swim with an old Lingalan.” Nin said. “We gave him the credits stashed in JE746 and some of the civilian outfits.”

“Does Jika know?”

“Oops.” Nil said. “We have to give our report to our chief.”

“He is Han Hano and a toys-merchant when he is leaving his office but we know him as Tim Kirwin.” Rostek Horn said when he saw on one of the monitors Tim coming in and using his walking stick.

“And he is celebrating his 90th birthday today Nejaa but still looking the same as when he was here celebrating his 68th birthday shortly after he came here.”

“And he is still using that old freighter JES746 and quite attached to it stating that it has a state of the art intel droid.” Nejaa said. “He got it from Jeki Eki.”

“The Jedi-master who provided us with new transports designed by master Sageon and him.” Rostek said.

“Yes one of them was given to my father when we returned to Corellia and I still use it.” Nejaa began to place a cake with nine candles on the table. “We are ready.”

Tim Kirwin had seen the fire-fighters leaving after he had told them how he had ended up in his escape-pod on the Monir spaceport. Lomion Er-Marin had ordered him to take a rest and he had done that, being the new student of the doctor. He had rested and saw Lomion coming in with a stranger.

“I am Karan Xothi and have fixed your right arm and hearing about the extermination of all the Jedi and seeing that creep on the holo declaring that he was the new emperor had me deciding to accept you as my son. That was after Jan Opatosi had to sedate you again when you began to experience extreme discomfort after he had guided you out of the sedation. I heard from your new teacher that you have accepted me as your father.”

“Sure, just as I accepted becoming the padawan of Ker Zomorian, now long dead or.” Tim got a dreamy look in his eyes. “I never did feel him becoming one with the Force. Years ago he decided to stay on Lingala after he had to retire.”

“He may be a Dunai elder like you and be alive somewhere.” Karan said. “We have had visits from the Sheir-Irel telling us that we are safe here on Moniron. They have been to Lingala too. And we as Dunai elder are strong enough to repell any visitors and enforcers sent by the emperor to search for escaped Jedi now in hiding here on Moniron. But don't you worry Tim. You are now known as Tim Xothi, my son and a student of Lomion Er-Marin.”

“Tim you should read this file we got from officer Engaron.” Karan Xothi barreled into the therapy-room of his adopted son.

“I have been too busy you know.” Tim put down a jar of ointment. “I have told Engaron that I had been a Jedi-knight serving in the intelligence department and going on undercover operations and landing here and becoming your son. And with these hands.”

“They are smudged and I will tell you what I have discovered.” Karan said. “Your real parents are the Dunai elder Jen Ere-Shai and Faya Idrees. Jedi-master Celeste Timmis took them to the Jedi-temple where they disappeared when they became one with the Force. You were saved by Buck Aybindy and he gave a copy of the record to the Corellian healer Randy Bel Wandal. The records were secured in Cormond where Hems Oilosse got the instructions from Rostek Horn to take them with him. They ended up here in Mitrinna and...”

“I like to meet Hems Oilosse again. I have met him when I was on a trip to Corellia to get files. During my undercover work on Corellia I have heard his name often. He never left Corellia to fight with the Corellian Jedi in the wars but helped CorSec to set up a secret facility in the Cormond Ale factory.”

“You can go on a trip if you like.”

“But my work.”

“I know. Go Tim. You have earned a nice vacation.”

Tim had taken a budget air-line from Monir to Rhonda, had rented a groundspeeder and was coming to Mitrinna. The rental agency had given him directions and he had enjoyed the ride up to the great snow capped mountains. He had passed a small azure blue lake and was coming to a meadow bristling with flowers and surrounded by large firs when he heard the busy sounds of work in progress. He recognised on the meadow some of the transports he had seen on Corellia but he was drawn to the big house described by Tarhin Engaron. He parked his groundspeeder before the entrance and entered the house.

Two old men were sitting at a table and playing dejarik.

“Not my rancor you...” A man looked up observing and seeing. “Han Hano?”

“Yes known as Han Hano and as Tim Kirwin.” Tim replied. “On Corellia I have been working mostly with Nejaa Halcyon and Rostek Horn but I have met you.”

“Ah I remember you.” Hems Oilosse dropped his piece he was about to move on the dejarik board. He began to smile. “Your first trip was on the Millennium Falcon to Corellia to get those files from her to be delivered to Jocasta Nu. My last trip was on her but she was named the Eagle and it had me ending up here in Mitrinna.”

“A yes, I have heard about the Eagle being employed as a transport in Monir. The Stellar Envoy became known as the Millennium Falcon and played a large role during the battles on Yavin and Endor.”

“I can tell you more about the Eagle and how I became involved with her.” Hems said. “The Eagle was piloted by Garry Venix to Cormond. He was injured and with him was Grethil Majina, badly injured. Both were wearing slave collars. And that had me with Corellian Jedi and former crew-members of the Korua Gem on a mission to free slaves. We were all hiding in Cormond and being employed as workers in the ale factory where CorSec had a base, run by Rostek Horn and where the Korua Gem, a star-destroyer, was hidden in a hangar. I took the datadisk with the medical files and told Rostek to stay behind. He will be important for his grandson Corran Horn, the grandson of Nejaa Halcyon. The Korua Gem took us to Nalakon where we could free the slaves after I used the Force to get information from the slaver. A fight against the Imps had us ending up on Moniron where I opted to go to this beautiful village.”

“Imps and the Force Hems. It was guiding me when I went with Rian Solma and friends to escape from the imps trying to recruit the boys into their army.”

“Ken Zamay?” Tim observed the second man.

“Yes Tim, you have known me as the padawan of Jika Bale. I still remember that large trip to Corellia.”

“The last one with Ker Zomorian.” Tim said. “Visiting that new training facility for the Jedi and having fun.”

“Not for us.” Hems grumbled. “I ended with Ken, Ker and you in the hospital after that disaster on Firwood lake.”

“Yes.” Tim said. “You came to visit us with your uncle and introduced us to the Kirfleet family and their marina. You were the padawan of Corin Halcyon.”

“Yes and it had me joining CorSec after my knighting. You want to see more of our village?”

“Sure.” Tim said.

Tim had spent some nice days in Mitrinna, meeting former Jedi and taking a hike before going back to Monir. He was back in his therapy room when he saw Karan coming towards him and leaving the door open.

“And?”

“I had a nice trip to Mitrinna and have seen Hems Oilosse and Ken Zamay and that had me remembering that boat disaster.” Tim began when a nurse entered with some supplies. And that nurse.

Tim had eyes only for her, feeling something and sensing the same feeling in her.
