Stairway v. Freebird v. Bohemian Rhapsody v. 2112 v. Comfortably Numb v. Won't Get Fooled Again

Which is the greatest well-known classic rock epic of all time?


IMO, it's Freebird. Skynyrd is probably my least favorite band out of the six, but Freebird is just such an ass-kicking song. In the end, it came down to Stairway and Freebird, but Freebird came out as the better one for me.

I love Zeppelin, so Im going to say stairway.

Out of those songs, Stairway to Heaven

 

Hotel California rules over all of them.

 

I actually love the song Kashmir more than Stairway.

 

Out of that list I'd have to say Stairway though I like Freebird better.

I was considering Hotel California because it is a well-known epic classic rock song, but as I think it is extremely overrated, and do not like it very well, I didn't put it on.

Similar to Kashmir, which, IMO, is the most overrated Zeppelin song ever. I was also considering putting Achilles Last Stand, but it is not as well-known as Stairway.


BTW: This isn't a thread about the most well-known of the six, it's the best/your favorite of the six, just to make it clear.

 

Stairway to Heaven is definately the most popular. It's not my favorite, but there it is.

Just listen to any of the live versions from BBC Sessions, The Song Remains the Same, How the West Was Won or the Led Zeppelin DVD, it never gets old or gray, it's always going to be The studio version still rocks as well. I can't think of one instrument that doesn't kick ass to full potential in that song.

I think that one other rock/metal epic that is very underrated and kicks every bit as much ass as the songs mentioned in this thread is Judas Priest's Beyond the Realms of Death. Badass instrumental work, badass lyrics and vocals and badass guitar solos. "YEAH! I've left the world behind!" YEAH!*Grabs his guitar and starts virtuosoing*

Sorry if I worded it poorly in the first post, but this isn't a thread for your opinion of which is the most well-known, it's your opinion of which is the best.

 

And like I said, 2112 blows all of those away.
To put it more plainly, 2112 is the best of those choices offered.

 

2112...man that whole album is insane. I tell you every one of those songs is amazing in their own way. But I have to go with Stairway because I'm such a Led head.

 

Led Zeppelin is the best band ever. stairway to heaven kicks all ass in that line-up.

What a great compilation of songs! The quality is incredible for that time! It amazes me how great they were.

While on the topic of Zeppelin still has anyone also read the stairway to heaven book? Man, I was totally blown away by some of the things they used to get up too. Sex with underage girls anyone?!

 

Has to be Stairway to Heaven... while Bohemian Rhapsody is the most well known Queen song I'd rate Innuendo far above it but it's not so popular. Shame really
