MCU Super-producer Kevin Feige is working with Lucasfilm on a Star Wars movie! https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/h...ige-developing-star-wars-movie-disney-1243481 To the surprise of no one, Kevin Feige is a huge Star Wars fan. It might surprise many, however, that the Marvel Studios chief is going to be developing a Star Wars movie as Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy makes new plans for a wave of projects set in the universe, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Feige had discussed a foray into the Star Wars universe in a late summer meeting with Kennedy and studio co-chairmen Alan Horn and Alan Bergman, sources say. In response to a query from THR, Walt Disney Studios co-chairman and chief creative officer Horn said, "We are excited about the projects Kathy and the Lucasfilm team are working on, not only in terms of Star Wars but also Indiana Jones and reaching into other parts of the company including Children of Blood and Bone with Emma Watts and Fox. With the close of the Skywalker Saga, Kathy is pursuing a new era in Star Wars storytelling, and knowing what a die-hard fan Kevin is, it made sense for these two extraordinary producers to work on a Star Wars film together." Some see this move as a prelude to a larger role for Feige within Lucasfilm, while others say it merely reflects the Marvel executive’s passion for the franchise. A top Disney source says Kennedy remains in charge with no plans for any changes. One knowledgeable source says Feige has told a major actor that there’s a specific role he would like that person to play if and when he makes the movie. Hot damn! Yassss! I'm so excited! Seriously, dude it a legit fan. Here's him on The Star Wars Show talking about Power of the Force toys fer crissakes! Anyway, let's all assume that Sebastian Stan is Luke Skywalker post Endor. K? Cool!
The going assumption in the last hour izzat Feige would adapt ... something! (since MCU is sort of also lose adaptations of something) So Crystal Star, right? It's totally Crystal Star. With Sebastian Stan as Luke and Aphra played by Gemma Chan is there also for some reason.
Sure, why not. But who knows he may surprise us...If he uses the MCU ability to take a character no one cares about and make them a star, then pick Doctor Aphra (She's big enough but make her bigger in the eyes of the population) I'm honestly a bit surprised by the mixed response (Granted with this fandom everything is a mixed response these days so I'm not surprised) but you know he is only "Developing" this...Right? Like he isn't writing or directing....Hope to see him pick some diverse directors and cast.
yah he's not a writer and director but he's been masterminding the MCU for basically a decade now and there is an overarching story across it that he laid in place, so I would assume if anything tonally and stylistically it would be like MCU movies (which are great!). I mean, Guardians of the Galaxy is very close to A New Hope, like a lot. And nowadays with Franchise Moviemaking, the producer is the one who sets the ship tonally, much like how in TV the writer/producers are the ones who set it. (and JJ is out the door off to WB after Rise of Skywalker) The MCU movies do have a different genre in each film tonally but they all have a similar vibe, looks great, fantastic casting, cracking script, super emotional detours, random cameo, glowy things, bombast, monologues. I'd bet 3000 Quatloos the writer/directors/some actors would come from someone who has already done the MCU. Hell bring in James Gunn! He already kinda made Star Wars anyway!
Not too keen on this. I really dislike the vibe most of the MCU has and I really don’t want that for Star Wars. I’m sure this will do really well with audiences though.
This is interesting but I can’t help but feel like they would start giving details on the other movies they have announced.
He'll probaly use legends to skapt for his movie like de does with Marvel. It's only one movie so i can ignore it if it is too marvel and not enough star wars. I have hope though as he is a bigger star wars fan.
It's good news for Disney I guess, but we heard about Rian Johnson in 2017 and D&D in 2018 now Feige in 2019. Knowing that we're getting a three year Star Wars movie break with a new movie coming in 2022, who's movie is it going to be first? Rian, D&D, or Feige's and if it's not Rian's since his was announced so long ago, why not? In other words, some more information on their direction would be nice.
D&D are doing the one out in 2022; whether there'll be one before that not currently scheduled, who knows.
Some posts elsewere have said that it may be a sign that LFL management is under duress but on the flipside if the biggest Mega Producer in Hollywood says he wants a crack at your IP, you say yes, even if things are terrible or entirely hunky dory. It's possible Feige would want to adapt something and LFL may point him towards Legends materiel instead of something canon like Doctor Aphra (LFL seems good about the creators of a character in certain medium steer that character's ship in medium they originated from, minus a Saw being exploded in R1 here or there). So now basically I just realized we're getting a Mara Jade movie with Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan as Luke. Double Yahooo!
Feige might stabilize the ship. Feige cites much of the decade-long reasoning (in that video) that us fans go through. For instance, he went from discussing the "dark period" post Return of the Jedi, to his collection of Power of the Force I figures. Then he went into reading West End Games source material and finally into Power of the Force II figures from 1995. I got a little bit of that from JJ Abrams but Abrams is actually a decade older than Rian Johnson and Feige. Feige and Johnson were both born in 1973. I will also add that George Lucas' attitude for most of SW 40 years has been that no one can take his place as creator. Now there are people moving into his place finally.
I’m excited about this. This has a lot potential of being good. What I do want finally see a definitive direction for the franchise. I completely am envious at how we know so much of future mcu stuff yet with Star Wars it’s all in the dark, last minute revelation. It’s time to start seeing some long term consistency so fans can look forward to things in the future instead of speculating in the dark with the what if.
I didn’t get that feeling with Rogue One or Solo, or at least in Solo’s case the levity felt more appropriate than what I see in a typical MCU film.
Anyone notice that a lot of the latest hires haven't even been directors and just "Producers" Dave and Dan "Producing" a Series (And maybe writing at least one) Feige ...Producing a movie RJ....Directing and Writing one, Producing and helping out the other 2
yah in franchise-dom, the producers run the show, they set the story/tone and then the directors/writers have to implement that vision. So if anything the announcements have been "you like Game of Thrones/MCU/Last Jedi? We'll they'll be more Star Wars that is kind of like Game of Thrones/MCU/Last Jedi coming up!"
If they would operate like that we'd still have Legends or a Legends line running parlell to new canon They do not know what fans like.
I love how when news breaks that this or that creative is working on a new Star Wars project, fans automatically assume the new project will be exactly like what they were known for previously. D&D are working on "GoT, but Star Wars." Feige's film will be "the MCU, but Star Wars." I get why people might think that given the dearth of actual information but at the same time it is possible that, given the opportunity to work on the canvas of Star Wars, they may have other types of stories they want to tell.
Idk, TFA was JJ Abrams Star Trek, but Star Wars (with some classic Lost "mystery box" nonsense, but Star Wars)
@ColeFardreamer Fans don’t know what fans like....I guarantee you that ;p we don’t know what we want. Someone says “Lets base Episode 9 off of Dark Empire” Me; GENIUS Other person: Dark Empire is stupid Even it they do just do GOT but Star Wars i’m Okay....but as far as I’m concerned Star Wars is everything and anything...BUT IN SPACE!
