I wish they would do a proper Star Wars beat em up.
Something like tekken, or virtual fighter.

I know star wars games all have combat but one on one, larger than life, each with special force powers or abilities.
I hear they are doing another Marvel game like that, I just wonder why no one has done a Stars Wars version.

If I knew how to do a poll, I would ask the question to get what you guys think.

Already a game out then, I didn't even know. Good find on that one.
Be nice if they did a new version for the next (current ) gen systems

Yeah, Masters of Teras Kasi was a pretty bad game. I think the concept is salvageable, though I don't see them doing it.

I remember that. It took me half an hour just to figure out how to draw lightsabers...ah...I was such a gaming noob back then.;)

Now, if they had a proper Star Wars fighting game, I think it would best fall in the same category as Soul Calibur, with weapons and detailed story mode.

Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast had a good duel mode.

So will the Force Unleashed (but only the Wii version)

My idea, for years, is for a "Star Wars" fighting game to be of the style of a 2D fighter, especially in the vein of "Guilty Gear".

Why only 2D? Because while a 3D concept could be cool, I imagine having a 2D fighter would allow more room for MULTITUDES of characters to select from, and also place emphasis on the fighting. (Some extras could be allowed, like objects on screen that could be Force-thrown, and such. But as for the environment? Maybe a multi-platform area, like some of the SNK games?)

I'd love to see it done in 2D (even if the graphics are 3D so they're more eye-catching to the average viewer).
Running on an engine like a tweaked Marvel vs Capcom 2 (sans tagging) or Guilty Gear would be a dream come true.
Don't forget online play.. ROTS Vs mode might've been a melee engine shoehorned into a mini-fighter but online play could have given it alot of replay value.

    Personally...I despise fighting Games...except DOA....

    ...

    ...[face_blush]...

    Anyway...where was I?

    Oh...

But a close relative to the "fighter" is the Dynasty Warrior series of games by Koei...I have often thought that this style of "beat-em-up" mindless combat would be great for SW...now before I hear one person say that it's "battlefront"...it's not...believe me, it's not...the "map supremacy" idea might be there, but there is an intricacy involved to the battlefront games that makes them more involved and certainly more challenging then slide striking a swarm of peons and racking up hundreds of KOs as in DW.

I even know the period to have the game...it should be the battle of Ruusan with Kaan vs. Hoth's forces...lots of sabers and hand to hand stuff...phenomenal melee environment...thumbs fall off hack/slash.

Once I played a virtual reality Star Wars game against my brother once. It was like a FPS in versus mode.

The lesson I learned that day? lightsabers can't stop missiles.

What about a 2D game with 3D graphics, something like New Super Mario Brothers?

Actually it's "Masters of Teräs Käsi", and NOT "Masters of Teras Kasi".

Your problem is that - in an irony of history - you don't have the keys on your keyboard Germans have. ä ö ü, for example.

Because normally, it's the other way round: Ganes are usually made for English-languiage keyboards, with developers "forgetting" that thre actually exist other languages in the world (and thus not implementing support for them).

I must thank the devs of Masters of Teräs Käsi for actually showing Americans how it is when you can't correctly type down words on your keyboard which your own language dictate.

So - don't be surprised if you find Germans wondering why Americans can't write the name of this game correctly.

Nowadsys, I think, LucasArts wouldn't do this mistake again. They would rather operate in an patriotic sense and NOT include some strange looking letters in their games ...
