I recently ran across these CD-Rom's in my apartment. I was wondering if any of you PC techs, guys or gals has managed to create something like an alternate installer for modern operating systems? Back when we had a video game forum, someone posted an Alt installer for the Phantom Menace. Just curious if there is a fix out there for these two. I greatly enjoyed these and I wish I could experience them again.
Funny, I just found Behind the Magic cdroms in my parents' house. I think on Windows 10 you can install older games and run them in compatibility mode?
I'll try it out later. But most have inferred that it didn't work. The only problem really is the install Shield Wizard that comes with those discs is a 32 bit installer, which is why 64 bit systems won't let it install. If it could be bypassed it would work.
Let me know if it works for you and I might try my own! I just know I've installed some old 32 bit computer games on my Windows 10 PC.
Tried compatibility mode. Didn't work. It says, find a 64 bit version from publisher. As far as I know, there is none.
We still have a videogame forum - it's just read-only in the Community Archive section: https://boards.theforce.net/forums/archive-games.10005/ If you're fairly technical PC-wise, this site has some suggestions on how to run old stuff under Win 10.
Thank you much for this! After doing the research, it looks like Virtual Machine software is my only hope.
I remember Behind the Magic having some really cool deleted scenes and such. I should try to boot it up again as well.
As for finding an alternate installer or a fix for running these CD-Roms on modern operating systems, it's possible that some tech-savvy folks out there have found creative solutions. It's amazing how the community can come together to keep old gems alive.
I'd recommend checking out forums or online communities dedicated to PC gaming or Star Wars enthusiasts. They might have tips, workarounds, or even modified installers to get those classic experiences up and running on newer systems. By the way, I don't have any information about obtaining Windows 10 product key Reddit or any unofficial sources. It's always best to obtain genuine product keys through official channels to ensure the security and legality of your software.
I still have both of those stored in a box somewhere. They were a fantastic databank of information back before the wealth of information available online these days.
