Sunday, September 12th, A&E will be airing a special on Star Wars- the OT Star Wars. It will show the making of and bts footage. I have never seen any program about this so I'm looking forward to it.

Is anyone else going to watch it?

    It just finished.
I thought it was interesting, and I have alot of respect for Lucas after seeing all the crap he went thro just to make ANH.

    n/m , Oblix already confirmed that. :)

The best stuff was all the raw fotage - with Chewie, 3PO, and Vader "undubbed." Yeah - I had no idea Lucas went through *that* much **** to get ANH (and even ESB) made.

    Very cool.

He got sued for something, I cant remember. For putting come credits at the end of the movie instead of the begining.

The show was cool. 2 hours long.

I agree,it was awesome! :D Yeah,it shows you what junk they went through to make it. Btw,if you liked that.I'd suggest the book: Skywalking:The life and films of George Lucas. It goes into alot more deatil of what went on to get them made. :)

EDIT:"He got sued for something, I cant remember. For putting come credits at the end of the movie instead of the begining."

Yeah,he got fined by the Screen actor's guild, and the Writers guild. That's what started the whole thing of Hollywood really not liking Lucas. :)

Holy crap that was awesome! :D

I died laughing when they played that rough footage of Vader when he first appears on the Tantive IV, when it was Prowse saying the lines!! He sounded like a candy @$$!! Thank GOD for JEJ!

*hides from the Prowse fans* [face_worried]

That DOC is the reason why I love the OT so much. Everyone was young and hungry, hard work really does pay off. It makes you look at the OT from a much different perspective and appreciate the man who brough us this magnificient universe.

Thank you George Lucas for taking nine years out of your life to show us that dreams never die.

Thank you for the memories George, we miss you so much!

Does Prowse still insist that he was cheated because he wasn't allowed to provide the voice for Vader?

My god, he sounds AWFUL! It's very disconcerting to see this great, menacing figure striding towards you, and then from him comes this refined, British tenor.

(Especially since everyone expects it to be James Earl Jones. Who RULES)

James Earl Jones was the best choice for the voice over. I have heard David Prowse but I've never heard his voice coming out of that mask til tonight.

    Wow!!!!

I like David Prowse and I do think he was great as Darth Vader but James Earl Jones was the best at voicing Darth Vader.

Anyone else love hearing Chewie saying (in English, undubbed by a wookie voice), "That old man's crazy." Or whatever it was he said. I wonder what else they had Chewie saying 'on set' for Han to respond to.

I had no idea I had such an impact on peoples lives! :p

I thought one part was funny. When Mark is being interviewed, he says something like "Out of all the things to worry about, it was if the wookie had pants"

Carrie Fisher jokingly referred to him as "Darth Farmer," because his voice wasn't menacing at all.

I don't get A&E, so I have yet to hear Prowse's voice. However, I always figured that James Earl Jones was hired to do Vader's voice for a reason.

Prowse signs Vader pics with: "David Prowse IS Darth Vader," ignoring how many other actors contributed to the part. He was also content to let everyone think he did the lightsaber duels himself, until Mark Hamill revealed otherwise: Bob Anderson played Vader during the duels. Prowse was also furious that he didn't get to play the unmasked Vader, and has done little but snipe at Lucas since 1983. However, he seems to think he was entitled to wear the Vader suit in Episode 3, and implied that Lucas was not honorable if he didn't allow it.

Myself, I think Prowse needs to get over himself. Any tall, big guy could've played Vader as well as he did. James Earl Jones's contribution was far more unique, but Jones himself is very humble and gracious about it.

The special made me admire Star Wars and Lucas even more He put some of his own money into ESB!!

ans it was hilarious that they didn't tell Mark Hamill intill right before they shot the scene that Vader was his father but just think if that would have leaked...
