The TF.N board for Celebration III opened today, so I took that as my cue to begin our own thread on the con.

I will be transcribing any information I think is useful from the TF.N board, in addition to other locations and posting the information in this thread.

How Much:
Per Steve Sansweet's 1/28/04 Hyperspace chat, tickets are expected to go on sale by the end of this summer. At that time, the block of hotel rooms will be made available for fans to reserve.

Outside of the C3 Hotel Block, most hotels will not take reservations more than a year into the future. Different hotels have different policies, but that seems to be the general response.

Ticket Price is still to be determined
Since last time it was $75 for three days, I'm expecting a $100 full event pass.

C2 Prices:
3 Day Pass - $75 Adult, $35 Child (Ages 6-12), Children under 6 Free

1 Day Pass - $30 Adult, $15 Child (Ages 6-12), Children under 6 Free

How:
Depending on where you come from, Car, Train or Plane might be the best ideas.

Why:
To celebrate our passion for Star Wars and meet other Star Wars Fans from around the world.

Stay in Indianapolis:
From April 20th to the 25th 2005 (The day before to the day After the convention.)

The Two closest hotel from the convention are the Hyatt and the Westin. They are both linked to the Convention Center by a skywalk which allows you to move back and forth easily during the day. The Marriot is also fairly close and has a skywalk linked to the Convention Center.

Even tough we recommend that you wait for the Official Housing Bureau to open their reservation bureau, you can always check out each hotel price at their respective website.

Here you'll also find interesting place to go, see and most certainly stop by while in Indianapolis.

Transport:

The best way to get to Indianapolis without too much stress is by air. Then from the airport to your Hotel by Taxi
Taxi: $20 USD (x2 back and forht = $40 )
Plane: Prices vary between $300 and $500

Remember you may need to use the Taxi more than once if you plan on sightseeing and partying late.

Food:

Convention attendee will tell you how easy it is not to eat during the course of a convention.

However you must make sure to eat at least two meals a day.

A healty Breakfast is therefore Mandatory and will get you going trough the day. Then you can have a little bag of mixed nuts and a can of pop in the middle of the day to get you going and Enjoy a very nice supper with your friends after con hours.

How's the search going, everyone?

 

OK, the roommie and I (HandmaidenAnde) are staying at the Hilton Downtown (née the Adams Mark Downtown)...unless we can find a way to stay at our beloved Westin. :~D

Avg rate turned out to be 189 per night, full breakfast included on Thursday and Friday, and according to the clerk I talked to, it's 3 blocks to the Convention Center, and nearly adjacent to the mall.

 

That's not too bad at all. I'll let you know when I find out more about my hotel status and whether I'll have an extra Westin room.

 

Oh, we loved the Westin. :~D If it opened up, we'd definitely cancel our Hilton. :~)

One good thing about the Hilton...right by the mall! ;~)

 

I'm still holding on to Matt's bathtub, otherwise it's way too expensive for me anywhere really.

 

Keiran, catch me online sometime, let me know what you want in a hotel, how far, how much, etc., and I'll help you find something.

That's just awesome, I just replied to the original post. We'll talk about this at the next meeting but I'm sure you guys will be into this.

 

any word on your involvement in the Pacific Region fan club table?

 

About that, I need a little info from you guys. I need to give jawajames a contact person and two references. I can be the contact but since I'm supposed to be working the Lucasfilm booth and won't be able to work our booth it might make more sense to have someone else be the contact. So, any volunteers? Make it snappy guys, the deadline is really soon and I want to get back to him in a day or two.

 

You can give me if no one else does it, I'm just not too sure on what I'm going to be doing about getting there...

 

Let me know what it entails, and I might be able to do it. :~)

 

Things have changed so I don't think we have to worry about that stuff:

about the table:

right now, since not many people are interested in having to spend time at the table, i'm thinking of having an unstaffed table. basically it would have flyers from various clubs, and a generic sign-in form for potential members that gets dropped into a drop box which is emptied every night. 'staff' people would periodically swing by the table to make sure that the area is tidy, add more flyers from storage if a pile is out or low, and set up/take down. if someone wanted to have 'office hours' to actually talk with potential members, we could have them when people are free.

about needing contacts and references:

to apply for a table, they request at least two contact personnel (me and someone else who will be there) with contact information.

each of those contact personnel need references - like job references.. someone to vouch for the character of the contact. the references would also need to provide contact info, although i doubt that they will actually be contacted.. who knows?

anyone want to step up and be a contact for this table with me?

I should be able to "float" at the table--stop by, check in, etc.
