    Hi,

I'm trying to convert a bunch of star wars game cutscenes to divx and then to mpg so I can make a dvd of my favorite cutscenes (I own a ton of the original games so this isn't downloading).

I have the radvideo tools which convert smacker and bink cutscenes to avi. Those have worked out pretty well.

What I'm looking for are players or converters for the SAN files in SHADOWS OF THE EMPIRE (PC VERSION). I've done some research and found out those are the lucasarts "smush animation" files. What I haven't been able to find is a converter to export them to divx. Is there a way to do this???

    ALSO:

I want very much to convert the cutscenes from the original XWING and TIE FIGHTER flight sims. I have the windows 95 cd versions as well as the original dos versions (I run windows XP). What I'd like to do is to extract the cutscenes out of the lfd files and keep the conversion process totally digital. I have tried running them in dosbox and using a screen capture program but the results are less then perfect.

Is there a lfd extractor program for the dos versions?? I've found the dark forces game editors but they don't seem to work for xwing (unless I'm not using the right one).

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you.

What you have to remember about Shadows, X-Wing and Tie Fighter is that their cutscenes weren't pre-rendered in the same way that Jedi Knight's were. Being animations run off the game engine, there's very little you can do to try and extract them, seeing as it's just a few lines of code making a few images move around the screen (much like an After Effects file).

You're probably best off getting yourself a copy of Fraps and using that to record them as they play in the game.

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I was kind of afraid of that. I haven't been able to get decent screen captures with those types of programs. Maybe if I try again. Though I was using old dos games and not directx games. Perhaps I'll have better luck with them.

    Thanks again. :)

Let us know what you find out.

I'd really like a DVD of what is available from the KOTOR 2 missing parts.

    Hi,

Sorry I didn't post sooner. I haven't been able to find new ways to do this. What I'm going to do is simply use my tv out on my video card and record them to my vcr. Then I'll dub them to my video capture card and make my dvds that way.

UNFORTUNATELY I can't output DOS in full screen. I guess I'll just have to settle for onscreen dosbox captures that don't look that good (once I stretch them for dvd format). :( :(

With a high end video card with input and output you could send the input to the output and store the signal directly without the need for a VCR.

I've been able to send the video back to the capture card just fine. What I'm worried about is the audio. Wouldn't it introduce feedback? Though I have a hauppauge wintv pvr250 capture card which has its own input for audio. Would that be enough to prevent feedback?

I could not say about the audio.
