I got way too excited by that. As a longtime proponent of the awesomeness of Lucrehulks, that was great to see.
PREQUELS FOREVER! Amazing trailer. Too bad I just read it's "early in development". I have learned not to expect a single thing from early in development projects, maybe not even the game itself.
Looks cool. Weirdly, the only thing in the trailer that made me say "that's definitely High Republic" was Yoda in the Council chamber wearing gold robes. Sent from my SM-G973U using Tapatalk
Yeah cool deal. Sounds like it will be a game that won't interact with any of the characters from the books so far. Quantic Dreams games are ones that often have hundreds of different possible endings and branching storylines and just a different choice of dialogue from any point in the game can completely alter the path of the story. From my experience with their games the thrill really isn't about how good the storyline is but in how to unlock all the branching storylines. With it being early in development doesn't sound like it will be out until the publishing initiative is complete.
Wow. I try not to not get hyped about gameplay less trailers and all...but I have to confess, I am intrigued. In particular, I love how much the visuals and the music felt like star wars...despite not actually using a lot of classic star wars elements (well, beyond Yoda and the Trade Federation stuff of course. Still, plenty of new and distinctive yet fitting things on display here.) Though speaking of the Federation stuff, I have long been wondering if the events of the High Republic would lead to the rise of the Trade Federation to protect outer rim trade, since the timeline added up, and their appearance here seems to hint even more at that. Also, I know this is High Republic, but I wonder when exactly, since that is a big timeframe, and in particular the Lucrehulks look more or less the same...but star wars isn't exactly free of unchanging ship designs, or even individual ships with multi-century lifespans The badguys intrigue as well. Strong visual style, very distinct from the Nihil...wonder if they will be connected to any of the other threats as of yet only hinted at to come in later phases. Now, to go watch several more times just for the fun of it.
Don't get your hopes up about anything from this game becoming canon to the overall Star Wars universe. There will be literally hundreds of different canons in the game alone.
at first glance I thought "oh, they're doing Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight / Rebel Assault II live action clips with CGI throwback, that's neat, haven't seen that in decades!" but if that's all CGI that is rather surprising. Not much to tell about gameplay or style (I thought it was also going to be some VR gameplay type of things but looking at the developer's history it seems they do console console games), but it's enough flashy Star Wars randomness to keep me interested. Also, hey, haven't seen the Trade Federation as the main baddies since TPM and the influx of TPM videogames with the Trade Federation so I guess they're due for a main antagonist comeback. I would assume broad strokes conflict / events would be canon. In such and such year in the high republic, somebody blew up something with the Trade Federation while Yoda stared and a dude played drums.
sounds good to me, multiple playable characters, new worlds to explore, like all the trade federation stuff in the trailer looking forward to seeing some actual gameplay
Looks awesome. I think that droid at the 1:09 mark might be inspired by concept art for C-3PO from TPM. I could be wrong but its the first thing I thought of when I saw it (also because of the other TPM imagery with the Trade Federation ships and Neimoidians).
I have many thoughts on this, but the main thing is that the trailer is super interesting! I'm sure some people will be like "Oh, it's in early development. Oh, so that means the trailer is not indicative of the final product. Oh, so it probably will suck!!1!1" I'm always of the mindset to not judge something until I have a decent look at it for myself. I'm like this for a couple reasons, 1) sometimes things get, in my opinion, overhyped / undue hate. Also, 2) my tastes sometimes differ from what's common. (e.g. I liked The Last Jedi. I didn't like the original Ghostbusters, etc.) Now, as to what I think of the trailer in particular: -Duros pirate dude looks really cool. I hope he's a playable character. -Trade Federation FTW. -The lightsaber fight looked like two Jedi. Could be a sparring match, or maybe it's something more interesting. -My main concern is, like some other games by Quantic Dream, the "gameplay" will be nothing but quick-time events. I mean, I'll accept it if that's the case. If the story's good, it's good. But the fear remains. -The shot of the army gave me Warhammer 40k flashbacks. -I know this is probably not at all the case, but when I saw the black goo man my mind went instantly to the Mnggal-Mnggal. Now that would be crazy.
Yeah all we really have right now to base something off of is in knowing what types of games Quantic Dreams makes. They definitely aren't for everyone (especially those that consider gameplay to be their favorite part of the experience of playing a game). For people not familiar with the type of games Quantic makes I would recommend renting one of their previous games before paying 60 bucks for this simply because it is Star Wars.
I love the look of this new (almost certainly doomed) faction. Hoping this is Claudia Gray's 'secret project' she hinted at a while back.
Very excited to explore the High Republic era. Looks really fresh. Also, Quantic Dream make incredible experiences that aren't hamstrung by traditional game design. What a pairing.
I'm pretty sure I saw Jedha in the trailer and I would be really excited if that's the case, because I would love to see it in its prime long before the events of Rogue One.
Trade Federation soldiers! Look at that. Federation came to be circa 350 BBY am I right? Oh yeah and black goo monster. That’s always a happy sign. Sugar me that’s a good trailer.
When I saw the trailer I was scared they tease a mobile game. I HATE those! Luckily this isnt a mobile game but seems to be a next gen game in the GFFA. Looks rather good from its trailer. Its not EA so thats good. LFLGames had to give the licence to multiple devolopers. I dont think the game will be released before 2023 or 2024 so lots of waiting to do... Stil, the concepts seems amazing and the era its set is great! Can't wait for more info on that game. There is so much in the pipeline. I really hope they'll get everything out. It seems like were back in 2015 where we had to wait for all those announcments to come out...
That's a large space battle. Can't be a galactic scale war for obvious reasons. Though a war that spans a solar system or a few I wouldn't consider "galactic". I hope in a twist, the Trade Federation are the good guys here, to distinguish themselves from their PT era selves. Maybe this conflict the Trade federation engage in leads to them creating battle droids. Also what if this is set near the end of the era (in a similar timeframe to Acolyte)? Would explain the "Eclipse" title.
