Ever since Burger King sold special glasses during the Original Trilogy - companies over the years have worked to capture the fun of those original dinner glasses! This thread is for talking about and sharing your fun glasses finds - vintage and new! To start with - Target currently is selling a great set of "A New Hope" themed retro looking glasses - one is Han Solo Leia/Luke - the other is Darth Vader - C-3PO/R2-D2. Glasses are by Funko. I believe they were $11.99. They have retro lunchboxes also, but they were out of stock. Funko Set This is the first of 3 glasses that were available for purchase at Alamo Drafthouse Movie theaters for The Last Jedi.
I love vintage promotional cups/glasses. When I got into collecting one of the first SW items I went after were the BK sets from the 70s/80s and they're among my favorite pieces in my collection today. I also collected those figure/cup sets from the mid 00's that were plastic but w/artwork that was meant to capture that BK aesthetic. I hadn't seen those Target glasses, but they've got a nice retro look to them and really evoke those BK sets. I'd be tempted to pick them up; especially if they did sets for TESB and ROTJ.
I have the below two sets: If Tervis's count too, I collect those and have about 9 different Star Wars ones.
I have a couple of the old BK ones, a couple of shot glasses from RoTS (Cards Inc), a Boba Fett beer stein, and a couple of the figures with glasses sets that came out around RoTS time (Maul and TPM glass, Boba Fett and RoTJ glass).
I like the pair I got, they're really heavy and very solidly built, unlike the very fragile vintage ones. I need to hunt down the Han Solo glass from the vintage ANH set, I had it but dropped and broke it
Gah. The good thing is that they're pretty abundant and last I checked the prices for them haven't really gone up much in recent years; certainly not relative to how vintage Kenner items have skyrocketed of late.
Just had these come up in my FB feed - yes they're TOOTHPICK holders....not hugely expensive shot glasses....
I love to have star wars glassware. My luck has not been so good of late though. I bought several glasses at Kohl's and as we have used them (we wash by hand, no dishwasher) the pictures are peeling away, so while they looked nice on a shelf, not all are good for drinking out of.
We had the BK glasses a long time ago but I think they ended up broken and thrown out. I have three handled glasses from the PT era. They look like tall root beer mugs. I'll try to post pics later. Saw the new ones at Target this weekend.
The vintage ones are really fragile - I don't know how I got mine across country twice plus 3 more moves and only had 1 break.
I have moved several times since buying the PT glasses and only one of them has cracked. I just moved again and thought I had put up a picture on my instagram but they're not there. I'll have to try and find them this weekend. I just got a Vader pint glass for Christmas and a Princess Leia coffee cup from Disney.
I got this beauty a few years ago from shopdisney. They had a whole line of products w/ this artwork that were EXPENSIVE. All I could afford was the one glass:
I bought them from a Suncoast movie store in my local mall during the PT merch craze. They were the only three designs I ever saw.
Need to get that photo bucket loaded so I can post my recent purchase. All the BK glasses with the ones I have now just one short! ROTJ Han Solo glass. Love these as I know we had to have had some when I was little. Great thread and all the ones you all have look great!
I love those glasses Wobbits. I have the original BK glasses that came out in 1977, 1980, and 1983. The ANH glasses were some of my earliest SW memorabilia that I purchased when I was 12 years old.
We got the Empire and Jedi ones. I had to hunt down the ANH glasses. We might've had them but they broke. We also had the Muppet Movie glasses - I don't know if they're still w/ my Mom's stuff or they're gone now.
We had the BK ones too but my mom wasn't as careful with them as I would have liked. I remember also having some Muppet ones and some Alvin and the Chipmunks ones.
WalMart has new Star Wars glasses, mugs, and mini glasses in the Valentine section of the store. Just saw them yesterday for the first time. I grabbed a baby Yoda Tervis from Box Lunch yesterday.
