We're definitely getting much novel content during the GCW. Curious to see what kinds of members are part of this squad. Oh, and I'm definitely liking the coverage from the empire's point of view. Lost Stars did a fantastic job (best novel so far in my opinion) in doing so. They should be the kinds of books where you start rooting for the bad guys.

Hmm. I'm of two minds of this. On the one hand, I enjoyed Dark Disciple more than most, but on the other hand that was because it was the epitome of late-TCW plot and characterization insanity. I'm neither hot nor cold on Miss Golden's writing as a whole because I don't know how much of DD was her and how much was existing from the TCW scripts. However, this is such a different type of book, and bound to be a dramatic gear shift in tone, that I'm not sure what to expect.
I went "Yay!" and then I scrolled down and went "Dang it." Still kinda hopeful, though. Can we edit the thread title to mention Golden? I just want people to be prepared.
Wasn't the point of Rogue One to lead into A New Hope? I'll pass on this. So many different possibilities and they choose to cover a loose end that wasn't a loose end in the film? And honestly I'm just getting tired of OT-era stuff. Stormtroopers versus Rebels is getting very old.
Yeah I mean, I'm looking forward to this book but further on they should shift focus to the 30 year gap they've mostly left vacant. Considering VIII will be coming out around the time for any new unannounced novels that would have been released, I'd say that's the most likely.
How terrible that they're expanding the scope of the Galactic Civil War into previous unseen campaigns and storytelling opportunities.
The Empire creating a squad to fight Rebels after the Death Star destruction? Works for me. I assumed most of Saw's Partisans were killed on Jedha. Oh well. Looks promising. I'm going to read it. I'm just along for the ride. Show us whatever you want, Del Rey.
Just dropping in to let everyone know that if you're looking for listings for the book, retailer pre-orders etc, NOT all of them may be live or updated yet. Some may take until the weekend to get active. Sometimes happens with announcements, but promise, it'll all get sorted out sooner rather than later.
Not an instant must-read for me, but I will get it at some point. I like the concept, but I'm getting sick of novels set during the GCW.
Well, kinda IC II, if you squint and look at it sideways. Christie Golden was brought in and took KT's place in the FotJ series, and now she's writing a book about Imperial Navy SEALS.
Wow, this was unexpected. Eager to see what Golden can do now that she isn't constrained by being part of a multi-author series or adapting a script. I wonder if the Partisans will be more radical now that Saw is dead. As unhinged and paranoid as he was toward the end of his life, he still seemed to have some lines he would not cross, like using Jyn to get at Galen.
