For a couple of years I've been wanting to collect Star Wars Insider - but only those issues that contain short stories or other "in universe" material, not the entire 150+ run. To that end, I have been trying to find comprehensive listings of the contents for each issue, from Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine #1 to Insider #148, to see which ones I can buy and which I can skip. All my efforts have been for nought and I am getting increasingly frustrated with the lack of answers.

This thread is an attempt to rectify the situation. I would like to see the contents of each Insider issue listed, with their page counts, here. To start off, I found a free easily downloadable PDF of Lucasfilm Fan Club Magazine #1 at this link:
    http://www.thestarwarstrilogy.com/starwars/post/2013/07/25/1987-Lucasfilm-Fan-Club-Magazine-1

LUCASFILM FAN CLUB MAGAZINE #1, Fall 1987

    16 pages total

    CONTENTS

A Letter from George Lucas, Credits, & Welcome Back

"Looking at Lucasfilm" - pg. 1

    "Exclusive Interview: Anthony Daniels" - pp. 2 - 5

    "Willow" - pp. 6 - 7

    "10th Anniversary Convention" - pp. 8 - 9

    "Ten Year Tribute" - pp. 10 - 11

    "Inside ILM" - pg. 12

    "Collections" & "Tucker" - pg. 13

    "Coming Now!" - pg. 14

That's it for the first issue. Anyone wants to add more issues, I would greatly appreciate it. All I ask is that the total number of pages for each issue and the number of pages that each article spans be included, as I have done above, since it will make it much easier to understand the listings.

I didn't really read Insider in the 90s, but it's my understanding that they didn't do short stories or IU stuff until Gamer was cancelled in '02. Then the Clone Wars were going on and we started getting not only stories but stuff like Lord of War and History of the Mandalorians.

In any event, this should be a big help to you:

Yeah, I've seen those Wookieepedia listings and they are helpful, but don't really go into the depth I'm looking for. And yeah, I know Insider didn't start IU material until after Gamer, but I still want to try to get contents listings for issues #2 through #61 just to make sure.

Paizo has some - #51-76. There are cover images and short blurbs (and some are for sale, some are unavailable).

You could also try a Google Image search for the covers - that should give you an idea of contents.

    Thanks, Suikoman444.

I'm guessing that Insider #140 and Insider #141 can be skipped since "Eruption" was included in the paperback edition of Into the Void. True?

Eruption is the only in-universe thing in those issues. The only thing you miss by picking up the paperback edition of Into the Void instead, is a few pictures that go along with the short story that are in the magazines.

Thanks. Missing the artwork doesn't bother me, so good to know I can skip those two. I didn't think that #140 contained a short story or anything, given the listing on the Wook, but I wasn't entirely sure. Thanks for clarifying it for me.

Pity that the "Empire" and "New Republic" Tales collections didn't do well; another collection or two would have been great to collect all the Insider short stories. At least Del Rey included a few of them in PB editions, like Omega Squad: Targets, Republic Commando: Odds, and Two Edged Sword.

Forgot to mention I found this site yesterday: http://jedi-archiv.de/index.htm, so it might help for others who want to track down issues too.

It's a foreign language site, yes, but not completely so - the listings under each tab are, for the most part, in English. Under the "Magazines" Tab there's a listing of contents for just about every issue of Insider up through #77. Though #78 through #90 are there as well there is no contents for them, and #91 on are missing entirely. Also has Galaxy/Galaxy Collector. Gamer and Star Wars Kids are listed, but grayed out, so I'm guessing no information for them has been entered yet.

Insider 147 has a story about Malleus set at the end of the Clone Wars. It's actually a pretty good read, although very short, and has some nice art with it.

    Thanks for the info.

    So I need #142 through #148 and #129 through #139.

I can skip #140 and #141. Presumably #127 as well.

Yep, 127 is another one that doesn't have anything In-universe
