Star Wars Legacy comic

I got my new insider yesterday and there is an article about the new SW comic called "Legacy". From what I read, I'm excited. This could be cool.
The creators are Duursema and Ostrander who's EU contributions have made it into the prequels several times. Another positive is that its set about a hundred years forward in the (GFFA) future. GOOD.
I'm getting a little tired of backstorys.
The story focuses on Cade Skywalker. We dont know his relation to the previous Skywalkers, but he's obviously one of them somehow. He previously trained as a Jedi, ditched it, and became a bounty hunter.
Curious.

There is a new Sith(Chick. Red and black tattoos. A Twi-lek. I'm calling her "Lady Maul".) and a new Empire, but I'm not passing judgement on either of those till I see them.

I'm wondering what you all think of the idea.

Personally, I'm glad they're trying something new.


...Or... are they?

Does it always have to be a frickin Skywalker?
Does there always have to be an "Empire" of some kind?
And how many times do they have to wipe out the Sith? (Did someone else find a holocron?)

But as they state in the article, its called "Legacy" for that very reason. They are drawing on the things we all know, but creating new characters in new situations in a new GFFA.

It has definite possibilties.


(BTW- I dont know a release date, but I havent looked very hard.)

I'm personaly very pleased, with Dark Horses Knights of the Old Republic series. Although I have the Legacy series reserved in my comic store box, I'm not to sure if I like the idea of a new Sith. New Sith past the time of Ep. 6, kind of detract from the Choosen One fulfilling his destiny. I personaly hope Cade Skywalker isn't anything like pancy Luke, but more like Darth Vader. To quote ancient Sith text,
"The Weak Deserve Their Fate".

DL49, it would seem that you NEED to read a little more about the future Luke Skywalker in the novels and previous Dark Horse titles. He is not as "Pancy" as you would like to think.
Seriously, Luke is a GREAT character and leads the life that his father should have and had the desire to do. IMO
SO don't be dissing my boy Luke! LOL

 

LOL True. Luke is the man. I love the scene in the NJO when he storms the Vong camp with two lightsabers to save Jacen.

I'm actually concerned about the opposite that Austin is. I'm worried they'll try to make Cade too hardcore. I hope they leave him with a little compassion or he wouldnt be much of a Skywalker (IMO).

 

Luke sucks... It's all rebel propaganda. Vader didn't really kill the Emperor, the Rebel Spy George Lucas was sent here to bring sympathy to the Rebel cause. So when the Empire comes, there will be opposition...hehe Light Side whinnies...hehe

But on a more serious note, I don't think Cade will be anything like Luke. To give another skywalker a new fresh approach, I think something radical must be done. For me personally, and very possibly a large majority of Star Wars comic readers, want to see something new, not familiar. If I want to see a "Luke" like character, I'll pick up a comic about Luke. I think a new Skywalker character would be dramatically more interesting, if the characteristic traits are completely unreadable. So that is why I see Cade being more of a bad guy, or selfish character, then a noble, reliable and predictable Luke clone.

Oh, I dont want to see another Luke. I just hope theres more than a name to make Cade seem like a Skywalker.

 

Das right! At this point so far into the Mythology, the Skywalker name has become a symbol of strong character. I know how alluring it is that Anakin is such a badass and all but at the core of who he is, he really is human. That has always been the beauty of this story. Mythology has tossed down that story of the hero who falls from grace for hundreds of years and it still works to this day.
They can play with tons of dispositions with Cade but it is gonna come down to one thing, he is a Skywalker.

 

I too have this reserved at my comic store
I saw a bunch of neat things in the insider this month, did you see the White Twi-lek & her outfit? She is wearing clothes. I think this will be my next costume on my list.

 

For some reason when I moved to Denver from Iowa, my Insider magazine didn't follow. I've told the Star Wars Insider of this problem twice, but to no avail.

i cant wait for this comic. before republic i wasnt into comic books. i think the durrsema-ostrander combo is great. i dont think cade is gonna be a wuss, but i dont think he will be too hardcore either. they are good at balancing the characters

Legacy #0 was released today to the comic retailers. Can't wait to pick mine up!
I believe it's mostly back story and they will really start in issue #1 but that ain't stopping me.

I thought they were selling #0 fo 25 cents is that true ? I'm definatly intreguied I have only been picking up republic here and there as I don't go to the comic shop I only get it if they have it at newsland .

I love the Imperial Knights, they're costume worthy. But it doesn't look like the Empire is allied with under the Sith, and I'm not sure if I like that. They're taking my two favorite loves(Sith/Imperials)and possibly turning against one another!?!?!!!!!!!

cool, I love that idea.

IMO, the Sith only used the Empire to accomplish their goals.


The Empire is about unity and order for a greater good.
The Sith are about personal power.


Seems like quite a contrast to me.

 

Is #0 still on shelves ?

 

Legacy #0 came out about a week ago, but I bet you can still find it. There is a great comic book store at Colorado Mills Mall, and they're really good at keeping their shelves stocked with Star Wars comics. I was there about 5 days ago and they had Knights Of The Old Republic #1 for $5, compared to Mile High Comics $15.
