I was just wondering about Star Wars lullabies... Any ideas on what parents sang to their kids to help them sleep? I would make one up but my mind is blank at the moment... :(

There was one mentioned in Rebel Stand and The Unifying Force, but only a line. It went 'Hush, my love, the night is mild and slumber smiles upon you.' That's the only one I know, but maybe someone else will know another. :)

When I was doing my series of stories, my husband wrote a SW themed lullaby that I borrowed. Obi sang it to his daughter in the story. I really like it, so I'm posting it here for you.

    Hush, little one
    The stars are high
    It's time to sleep
    Bid your work goodbye

    The world will keep
    the lessons can wait
    It's time to let go
    and trust your fate

    Lay your 'saber down
    Pull your robes up tight
    Put your mind at ease
    There's no need to fight

    The Elders watch
    and all are free
    So you may sleep
    Because they can see

    The Force is strong
    and will watch over you
    Till you grow up
    To be a Jedi too.

    By Jedi Rah

I hope that will provide some inspiration. :)

    That's a beautiful lullaby, JazzyJedi. :)

Anyways, in the Attack of the Clones novel by R.A. Salvatore, Anakin mentions one his mother used with him. It goes like this:

Home again, home again, to go to rest
By hearth and heart, home and nest
    .

    Hope it helps, puppyglo! :)

There's one that is mentioned only by name in Rebel Stand called "Dance, Dance, Little Ewok".

There was also one in Rebel Stand wasn't there? When Kell said somethig about Mara scaring him when she would just sing lullabies? And then she does sing one just to freak him out...? Sound familiar?

    1) THere's, in "LIghtsabers and Lullabies", a hilarious one Luke makes up impromptu.

Although Luke sensed that the child was not yet asleep, he took a chance and rose, heading toward the crib. Ben sent up a wail immediately, his cries of 'No, no' permeating the room. Relenting, Luke returned to the chair and once more began gliding to and fro. Humming quietly, he eventually put words to the melody -

    Hush my little Jedi Knight
Now it's time to say goodnight
And dream of princesses to save
And other noble deeds so brave

"Are you making that up as you go along?" Mara mumbled in a low voice from her nest among the covers. She had heard him singing to Ben in the past, when he thought no one was around, but it had always been some familiar tune.

"Every word," Luke declared. "Don't interrupt, I'm on a roll here. I think he's starting to get sleepy.

If you save a great big Wookiee
Your reward will be a cookie

"Oh, brother!" Mara lifted her head to peer at her husband through the semi-darkness. "It's a good thing you didn't go into the entertainment business."

    Hush, my beautiful Jedi wife
Though you are the love of my life
If you undo the progress I've made
Instead of Skywalker, you'll be back to Jade

    2) In my The Other Half: Burden of Choice, I wrote a lullaby that the twins associated with their earliest memories of their mother. In All the Wrong Places, it's explained that she learned it from Obi-Wan.

    "When morning comes,
    with untainted futures,
    I'll rise with you
    to share in your joy.
To tell you I love you
    and always be with you
    that each new morn will
    bright hope be.

    When day wears on,
    with life's small trials,
    I'll stand by you
    to share in your life.
    To give you small comforts
    and be your safe haven
so each new burden will not
    be carried alone.

    When evening comes,
    with all its weariness,
    I'll pray for you
    to conquer your doubts.
    To meet each new challenge
    with love and great strength
so you can be a guardian
    of hope, friends, and love.

    When night befalls
    and darkness o'ercomes you,
    I'll watch over you,
keep you safe through the night.
    That light will return
    and you'll see the dawning
and know that I love you
    through morning and night."

Anakin also sings something in The Approaching Storm that his mother sang to him.

I think it's a good idea to make up lullabies whenever possible.

No offense to anyone who has done this because I'm sure under some circumstances, it works, but I have always hated people using real-world songs in SW fics. "Your Song" sung by Obi-Wan really grates on my nerves--wrong Ewan movie, folks.

Amen, A_G. I respect using quotes from our world, but ripping off songs and making them into a GFFA stuff just bugs me.
