Greetings. Maybe I'm the only one that catches this, but have your ever noticed that many of the nuisances from the John Williams sountrack sounds just like music from the ages? Of course, after a few hundred years it would be hard to make up anything new, but I find this interesting. Just a brief example with a recent context. ROTS has the "Battle of the Heros" song. That very song is nearly, and I do say nearly, note for note and rythym with "Pavane, Op. 50", composed by Gabriel Faure. It is not exactly, but it sounds like a play of the ROTS song.

Has anyone else noticed this and if so what examples can you sight for our pleasure?

The influence of certain classical composers (Wagner, Holst, Elgar) on Williams is well known. I've not heard the piece you cite, but there are many other Williams cues that have similarities to older works. Heck, we even have a thread comparing the Force Theme to "House Of The Rising Sun".

I've most often heard people comparing Star Wars to "The Planets", and some compare Tchaikovsky's "Violin Concerto in D major" to Leia's Theme, so it's a rather common thing to do.
