Alright, I know that sounds a bit strange. But what I'm trying to find out is; what legal or illegal drugs out there in the Star Wars Universe? And their origin and side-effects. As well as any other special traits about them.

Right now all I know of are 4:

Glitterstim - From Kessel - causes temporary telepathy, allowing someone to sense surface emotions and thoughts - to activate expose to light and then ingest.

Ryll - From Ryloth - analgesic purposes, also used to produce several intoxicants and hallucinogens (but I don't know what they are)

Carsunum - From Servacos - causes euphoria and an increase in abilities, such as strength and intelligence - black spice, extremely rare and very valuable

Andris - From Servacos - enhances flavour, also used as a preservative, but some claim it causes mild euphoria and an increase in sensation - white powder (I'm guessing this is very close to salt in our world)

I pulled that information from A.C. Crispin's Han trilogy, Book I: The Hutt Gambit, but I haven't really read enough of the earlier books to know what else is out there.

I know in Ep II:AotC there was a mention of Deathsticks, but I don't know anything else about it. Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Glitterstim is the spice from Kessel mines.

There's something called sweetblossom, which is supposedly a lot like heroin, and a drug called yarrock, which grants you expanded conciousness, whatever the hell that means.
    Hope that helps.

Thanks guys, and I'm not sure what expanded consciousness means either. Maybe some one else might know.

I might be wrong, but I believe the death sticks are actualy a type of addictive poison, which is very dangerous, because when taken is small amounts it can send someone into a trance like state, but if they become addicted to it they are likely to take to much and kill themselves.

I think expanded conciousness means something like a disconnectedness of mind from body, or something like that.

An expanded consciousness is when you feel like you are connected to everything. In a way the Jedi have an expanded concsciousness. But that is not drug induced. You may be able to see and hear things you haven't heard before, think in ways you've never thought before. I would think you may have an out of body experiance, feel enlightened or maybe have visions of other places...

Isn't there also spice from the moons of Naboo? In AotC, doesn't Mace say something the assassination attempt on Amidala's life life: "Our intelligence points to disgruntled spice miners on the moons of Naboo?"

I was thinking about doing a story about a drug smuggling ring, but wasn't really in the know to think up my own drugs. So I wanted to see what was out there.

Don't forget Salt: It's an addictive, hallucinatory substance for Arconans, even if it's just a preservative for everyone else.

That'd be Ryll Spice, it's pretty common. So far, according to the EU, Kessel is the only place you can get Glitterstim spice. Although now that we know it comes from those energy spiders, it won't be too hard to transplant them to other worlds. heh.

    Spider farm anyone? hehe.

Death Sticks are like cigarettes yes but if you become addicted count yourself dead. It will kill you but I've forgotten how.
Of course that's how they got their names ;)

there's Andris Spice...i think someone mentioned this before but didn't know the symptoms: it gives the person lots of energy until they're almost wild. withdrawl is so severe that it can kill people and often does. if you want more information look at the last three books of YJK and the character "Anja" (a girl addicted to spice)

    hope that helps some...

I understood Death-sticks as sorta like a joint... like pot or something.

Sorta, here's a quote from an explanation on the SW website: Death sticks -- treated Ixetal cilona extract that offers euphoria in exchange for a shortened life

So it is like a joint but much more deadly. They kill you not long after you become addicted.
