Tanner was the name of the family ALF ended up with. Clearly this book will bring ALF and the planet Melmac into SW canon.

I said this on another thread, but Tanner was M's right hand in the 007 universe, so I'm guessing a spy novel

Or, you know, it's a Full House-style story set before the OT where Lando and Han are raising a couple foundlings

It will be about AvarandElzarsittinginatree after the events of the last High Republic book. The entire book will resemble that one chapter from Temptation of the Force.

Oh, we can use our user names to make predictions? :D In that case, I'm modifying mine to still being an espionage story, but recanonizing Kir Kanos as the last Imperial Guardsman tracking down clues that lead him to Exegol and the Emperor Reborn

Just a wild guess not based on the codename: Follow-up to Brotherhood by Mike Chen to tie in with the 20th anniversary for ROTS, same way Brotherhood was for AOTC's 20th anniversary. Alternatively, maybe something for TFA's 10th anniversary (wishful thinking for a Snoke novel).

It will obviously be a very introspective and psychological book about a reborn Palpatine living for a while as a humble cabbage farmer.

As a slightly more serious guess, do we know what the cadence is for the Reign of the Empire trilogy?

Mask of Fear is out in Feb 2025, and I believe the second instalment is releasing in 2026.

It's called Star Wars: Sanctuary, a Bad Batch novel written by Lamar Giles ("Twenty and Out" from FACPOV: RotJ). Looking at the author's bio, seems like it's gonna be YA and given the name, it's something about Pabu.

    Quite a yawn.

adventures of adult Omega? If so, I’m in.

your lips to God’s ears. Can ALF and ET go on a road trip adventure? ET is technically part of the GFFA too right?

    Interesting.

Judging by the name it sounds like a Pabu centric story, but I find myself doubting that this is going to be a purely slice of life affair, so I wonder what the main conflict will be?

That's a different ISBN from the Tanner listing on PRH and Edelweiss

ETA: minor edit because I forgot the US does dates different from everyone else

I have a grudge against ALF for personal reasons so no. But I don't get to deside this sort of thing

Pabu would be interesting. Maybe with Phee Genoa?

Not interested in a Bad Batch novel. The series is over. This is the problem with Star Wars they want to come out with books that don't matter. There was a time when they did but now with the advent of special effects and storytelling you can watch an amazing movie, tv streaming series or animated series and get the whole thing in a dynamic fluid fashion.

Boy, the Trek fans are gonna have a fit when they discover novels only "matter" when the show they're based on is actively in production.

In any event, if Sanctuary and "Tanner" are indeed the same project* then it's not a YA book - Random House Worlds, not Disney / Lucasfilm Press, is "Tanner's" US publisher and the price point and physical dimensions correspond to an adult novel. Lamar Giles is predominantly a YA author, but enough YA authors have crossed over to the "adult" market at this point that that distinction is also irrelevant.

Either way, I'm onboard for Sanctuary, especially if it's leaning toward the timeframe of the final episode's epilogue.

*I actually don't think we actually have enough information to make this call yet - we've seen plenty of instances where YA and adult novels have released on the same day, and from what I've been able to tell Penguin Random House distributes Disney / Lucasfilm Press books worldwide as of 2023 so a UK listing showing "Penguin" or "Cornerstone" as the publisher for a Star Wars YA project wouldn't necessarily be out of line. I reserve the right to be wrong, as I sometimes am.
