Star Wars Official Poster Monthly Magazine

Hi all,

I was intrigued by the scans of the 18 issues of "Star Wars Official Poster Monthly" over on Timetales's "Arcana Historica" section, but I had a couple of questions (mostly so I could complete the articles on them over on Wookieepedia.)

1) Were the 18 issues scanned in on Arcana Historica the only ones published?
2) Was there an "Empire Strikes Back Poster Monthly"? How about one for "Return of the Jedi"?
3) The posters themselves aren't included in the scans, only the mini-articles and vignettes printed on the back. Does anyone know what the posters were?

Sorry to sound rude but LAJfetts questions and answers thread at the top of the page is the best place to ask instead of making a new thread for it, people will notice a recent post and help out.

 

There were definitely Empire and Jedi versions of these poster mags though I don't know how many. Do an ebay search on them and you'll find pics of a lot of them. The picture on the front of the mag when folded up was usually what the poster was inside, though not always. The front cover usually said what the poster was if it was something different.

 

Well, I will tell you what Star Wars Super Collectors Wishbook (2nd edition - it had the pictures) has for this.
There are 18 listed for Star Wars:
1) May the Force Be with You - cover shows a pic of Stormtroopers
2) Darth Vader Lives! - cover shows Vader and Luke in flight gear
3) Han Solo - Rogue Spacer - cover shows Han firing from the ramp of the Falcon
4) Soldiers of the Empire - cover shows two pics - Chewie and Vader
5) The Threepio File - cover shows two pics - Vader and Threepio
6) The Spaceships of Star Wars - cover shows two pics - R2 with C-3PO and a Tusken Raider
7) The Droids of Star Wars - cover shows split pics of R2-D2 and C-3PO
8) Ben Kenobi - Man or Legend? - cover shows split pics of Chewie and a Stormtrooper
9) Special Issue - main pic on cover is Luke and Leia doing the rope swing. Smaller head shots of other main characters
10) The Return of Evil - cover shows Vader with lightsaber
11) The Men Behind the Masks - cover shows split pics of C-3PO and Chewie
12) The Cantina Aliens - cover shows two Cantina aliens
13) The Model Squad - cover shows Luke, Leia and Han
14) War in Space - Fact and Fiction - cover shows split pics of Han and R2
15) No pic available
16) No pic available
17) Escape Through Hyperspace - pic of Ben, Luke, and C-3PO
18) The Empire Gets Closer - Cantina Aliens

For ESB:
1) Back in Action - cover shows Han and Leia. I think they are on the Falcon but it's hard to make out
2) The Dark Lord - cover shows Vader in the 'I am your father' scene
3) The Mysteries of Yoda - cover shows Yoda
4) AT-AT Attack - cover shows split pics of two AT-ATs and Vader
5) Han Solo - Hero and Scoundral. Two covers on this: Hoth cover and Stormtrooper cover. Split pics of Han on left and a Hoth battle scene or a Stormie on right


For RoTJ:
1) At Last the Waiting is Over - cover shows split pics - Luke on sail barge with lightsaber on left and a Gamorrean Guard on right
2) Inside Jabba the Hutt's Court - cover has split pics - Ewok and Jabba
3) A Close-Up Look at Transport and Weapons - cover shows Han
4) In-depth Look at the Space Battle - cover shows B-Wings with an inset pic of Vader

Note - the cover pics are way too small to scan.
