TV Discussion Star Wars Rebels sequel series (rumors)

I just noticed in a post from the thread about the Bad Batch series, that rumors are mentioning a Rebels sequel series:

The Rebels sequel series (which they think will be announced after the Ahsoka Mandalorian episode) was prolly already in the works, they got some stuff done already, but The Clone Wars Season 7 was really successful so they wanna capitalize in that.

I am totally on board for either more seasons of Rebels, or a sequel series. Let's discuss!!

 

I just finished my yearly rewatch of Rebels so I'm ready for a new series. I did view a quick few minutes of some Youtuber info on the Rebels sequel and yes, as to what you mentioned, it would capitalize on the Ahsoka journeys with Sabine. Any votes for Zen and Kallus? Probably not. Hera & Chopper after Endor? Maybe. Ezra and Kanan afterlife? Yes. Ahsoka and Sabine both looking for Ezra...absolutely!
I don't care for the open ending to Thrawn & Ezra even now after these few years. If up to me I would have both of them pulled out of the portal by Ahsoka (Thrawn by accident or no choice). That way they were both dead during OT, but now can flourish post OT. New stories and new villains for sure, but also have Thrawn deal with ashes of the Empire within same time frame as the popular Heir to the Empire series of books which kept SW alive. Anyone agree or have any other ideas?

 

We will be getting a ST character in this show.

 

the source that is pushing this rumor seems legit now. They might have been the first outlet to talk of a TCW spinoff/sequel series. I think we might see 3 series in the near future. 1) Mando S2 2) Bad Batch 3) Rebels Successor (they haven't been using the word sequel, so we'll see)

 

This series will have the same animation style as clone wars season 7. I suspect this be more like clone wars and less like rebels, with it's world building and story arcs rather then following a simple group all over. We will have Ahsoka and Sabine tracking down Ezra, while and Thrawn are battling unseen enemies in unknown space. Leia in politics and we learn of how the new republic works and it's politic system. Maybe some episodes with Luke and Lor San Tekka.

 

well, I think it will essentially be the Thrawn Trilogy.

 

With some difference tough, no Luke, Han Or Leia involved with Thrawn, no Mara jade and love to Luke. I think We Ezra and Thrawn working together like he did with the jedi in legends. I don't think ibe more then maybe 50 % of what the thrawn trilogy was about. We might get lingering mentions of Palpatine as he away on Exegol.

 

I hope not as I didn't like the Thrawn trilogy as much as other people might've when I first read it.

 

They're probably waiting for the right moment to build up the hype later this year just like they did with BB thanks to the success of TCW on D+.

 

Which makes me wonder if the Rebels Sequel series come out next year or not.

I mean do se some logic for announcing it before Mando and co-inside with Ashoka but that's defiantly putting a cart before a horse.

Still it's possible. or we could find out next month since I think August is gonna be a month of announcements.

 

I think close to it or right after the Ahsoka episode we will get info on Rebel sequel. The Kessel guys said it is done and ready to go. SO i could see them going Mando, then bad batch, rebel's sequel then you have cassian and mando 3 by the end of 2021.

 

Do we know if the rebels sequel will be animated? my theory is that its the live-action ahsoka series thats the rebels sequel.

It would make sense right? personally i don't think should over use Ahsoka. don't just throw her into everything. it would be the fastest way to fatigue the character to assume she can be a bit part of animated stuff and live action too. and when you look at what a rebels sequel could really be about... i suppose it has to have Ahsoka there right?

 

It is animated, according to the kessel run guys. And Ahsoka and Sabine will be major characters most likley. of all the animated shows. she a major character in the clone wars, a guest character in Rebels and in bad batch it seems she have little larger then cameo roles.

 

If they try and juggle her in animated and live action. i think that would be too much. she is character thats had alot of focus over the years but they probably shouldn't be over confident about how much her character can carry.

And if they really have cast Rosario Dawson in Mando, then they do plan on doing more with her.

 

Well yes there's that live action Ahsoka Tano show that is not the rebels sequel tv show. It may be a bit mutch but she one of the most popular characters in the franchise now soo.

 

Maybe they want to resolve the Ezra story in animated so they can start something fresh with live action. Problem is you want to keep things in moderation.

I mean its nice if they allowed ashley to keep voicing the role. she clearly adores the character. But i still think you need to know what show she should be focused more in.

 

The Rebels sequel will be Ahsoka's major lead in a show since clone wars. bad batch and mando will be little more then cameo's.

It was but then Bad batch comes out instead as the clone wars continnues.

 

It's funny to me how this is a Rebels sequel and you all are talking about Ahsoka. Seems like we should be talking about the main Rebels characters. I for sure want to see Ezra come back, as well as the other characters in his squadron. And it would be really cool to see Kanan as a force ghost.

 

Well Ahsoka and Sabine is looking for Ezra so it makes sense they be major characters. I'm sure we will see Ezra and Thrawn too along with other rebel and clone wars characters, maybe even some OT characters.

 

Its because Ezra was the sorta main character of Rebels. and ahsoka and Sabine were the ones looking for him. which kinda gives off the idea thats the group of characters for the rebels sequel. after all i imagine there will be some changes made for the sake of making a new show.

Although i still think Ahsoka shouldn't be the main character of too many shows. for the sake of not fatiguing the character in the eyes of the audience.

 

Well she has onel been a main character in one show so far, and in this she be the motherly mentor figure. in Rebels she just a reccuring character and in bad batch i think she'll have some nice cameos. Sabine and Ezra will be main characters in this too.
