I went on a search for the original Family Guy Star Wars references solely for mentioning this new one to you guys, only to realize the topic was locked.

Anywaise, I've never seen this reference before and thought it was great. I swear to god, the writers must take looks on these boards sometimes.

So Peter realizes Francis isn't he father after he dies, and is in Ireland looking for his new dad. He's lieing on the ground and says "I'll never be half the drunk as my father."

Francis appears as a force ghost alongside of Yoda and Ben and tells Peter he is a drunk. Then, Anakin walks into focus and says "And I'm Hayden Christensen!" and Yoda and Ben both give him silent glares. I thought it was amazingly funny seeing as the discussion topic of Hayden vs Sebastian is still on the first page after almost 2 years.

Of course, lock if needed. I just thought I'd share this with you guys because frankly it was new to me, and I got a kick out of it.

That is pretty funny. I have not seen that episode. I was watching an episode last night and sure enough there was a Star Wars reference. I'm looking foward to see the sequels to Blue Harvest!

Yep thats the thread. I finally found it after like half an hour of searching and when I went to write in the latest reference of Hayden, I realized it was locked. So I took a chance and started a new one.

Does anyone know when the next Blue Harvest is comming out? Probably 2009, eh?

My friend asked me just the other day what exactly Blue Harvest stood for, and I took a shot in the dark and connected the blue milk to the vaporator harvest, when in all reality I really didn't have a clue.

It's hard to say when the next episode, "Something Something Something Darkside", will air- the last one aired as the season premiere, and they seem to have at least scripted the new episode in time for footage of the table reading to be included on the DVD as an easter egg, and that came out in January, so it was probably produced in Nov/Dec. It probably depends on how much of an effect the writer's strike had on the production. It's possible the episode might be finished in time for this fall, though.

"Blue Harvest" was the fake title for Return of the Jedi ("Blue Harvest: Terror Beyond Imagination") during it's production so people wouldn't know when/where a Star Wars movie was being filmed, to help maintain secrecy.

Of course, word still got out so people camped around the yuma desert shoot anyways ;)

It was later reused as the name for an unofficial fanzine.

On the DVD commentary track the guy says that, if he had known they were gonna get a chance to do the whole trilogy, he would have saved Blue Harvest for the name of the ROTJ episode.

Looks like you've got some grovelling/ret-conning to do with your friend :p

When they were shooting Return of the Jedi (back when it was going to be Revenge), they put up signs around the lot saying the movie they were shooting was called "Blue Harvest: Horror Beyond Imagination". I believe all external paperwork regarding the film also bore this name/logo. IIRC, George & co had t-shirts and jackets made with it on too. This was to keep the prying eyes of the press and interested public away from what they were really shooting.

    :)

edit: ...and the Quest breezes in, stealing my thunder [face_laugh]

Actually, I bet they come out with the first sequel this year. They know it was the one of the most watched episodes of Family Guy in a few years so I think they'll want to capitalize. I know nothing has been said about it, but it makes sense to me that it would be out this fall.

It's a question of production time- I'm sure they also want SSSDS to be the premiere this season like BH was last, but if the writer's strike delayed production significantly, animation take s acertain amnount of time if you want to maintain quality.

I am so excited for Something Something Something Dark Side. I've heard that some of the released promotional art has the chicken portraying Boba Fett. So, now I'm wondering, who'll play Yoda?

    Any ideas?

P.S I also just saw that Hayden Christenson reference. That might be one of the coolest Family Guy gags I've seen in a while.

I think the only natural canidate for Yoda would be Stewie's arch nemesis- his half-brother, Bertram, even though he's traditionally an evil character.

The only alternative I think would work would have to be some character who speaks funny.

Yeah, I was thinking Bertram, just because he is Stewie's arch rival.

Speaking of who'll be who, who would they play Palpatine like they have been (just drawing him as himself), or will they have a character from the series play him? I can't think of anybody to play him, unless one of the evil doctors from Stewie's first birthday party. That'd actually be pretty funny.

I think it'd be funny just to have Adam West play him since Tarkin's dead.

Alternatively, the portrayal of Karl Rove on American Dad would work well too.

"Something something dark side.....and maple syrup! I told you I was gonna save that one!"

Adam West would be hilarious. I don't really watch American Dad that much, so I don't really know about how he would do, but I was just thinking, what about Lil' Cheney fom Lil' Bush? Different show and network, I know, but that would be hilarious.

Another thought- maybe Peter's dad could be used? He was always tough on Chris, so it might make sense- and Stewie was pretty entralled by his bible-thumping, which would mirror the Palps/Anakin relationship a bit.

Just watched an episode on the Cartoon Network....and it had another reference. In a flashback, Peter was conducting the "Sand People Choir." They left, Obi-Wan shows up and said that they would be back in greater numbers. Had me laughing pretty good.

"The Force knows what 'cha been doing, and it's on the dark side!"

Yeah, Francis would be pretty funny. I saw the Sand People choir reference. My brother and I quote it all the time.
