(This is a long-running head-universe i've been working on for quite some time. As to what it IS, this is a world building exercise where Star Wars and Star Trek exist, merged into a single universe as if it was always the case. In some cases, characters are combined between worlds, sometimes they are just the character in a different situation. There's no real rule, it just depends on how things work out. It's still very much a work in progress and things change all the time.)

(Currently, timescales are still being worked out. Shorter than Star Wars, longer than Star Trek... )
Part One: Vulcan, The Jedi and the Sith
A long time ago, some Vulcans began to discover they had access to powers and abilities beyond those of others. Within short order, these special Vulcans began to seek each other out, forming small groups and eventually giving way to a larger organization. The early Vulcans who discovered these powers named the mysterious power they had access to "The Force", the members of their group becoming known as "Jedi". For some time, the Jedi of Vulcan studied their connection to The Force and increasingly began to understand it.

Some of the oldest Jedi began to take on students of their own, passing on their knowledge of The Force. After some trial and error, the Jedi had decided to formalize their education and established the Vulcan Jedi Academy. One of the founding members of the Jedi Academy was Master Surak, who had taken a keen interest in a particularly powerful trainee by the name of Ajunta Pall. Surak offer Pall special training and insight, and Pall's master of The Force grew exponentially.

Surak became concerned when Ajunta Pall took to his own studies, experimenting with aspects of The Force that no other Jedi had before. Pall realized that emotions could play a role in the effectiveness of The Force, and experimented with them. It was not before long that Pall had discovered that certain Force abilities responded to different emotional states, but negative emotional states seemed to fuel particularly powerful abilities. Pall had receded into himself, harnessing emotions such as anger, fear and hatred to unlock new abilities, beyond those of even the Jedi Masters.

Sensing a great disturbance, Surak instructed his pupil to cease his exploration of these force abilities. He was concerned that harnessing the Force is such a way was bringing out a dark side in Ajunta Pall. Pall enjoyed the phrasing of Surak's plea, and began calling his techniques "the dark side". Surak had moved beyond concern, it was plain that Pall's "dark side" was destructive and corruptive. Surak now demanded that Pall cease his experimentations. Pall disagreed, lashing out at Surak and leaving the Academy along with a group of students who had taken up similar studies.

Over some years, the influence of Ajunta Pall grew, attracting more and more students away from the Jedi Academy. Surak knew that something had to be done, Pall was growing too powerful and was becoming unhinged. Surak surmised that if negative emotions could power his "dark side", perhaps clarity of mind and the centering of oneself could power a "light side". Surak took to stoicism, eschewing his emotions to gain further insight into the Force. It worked, and the teachings of Surak began first to spread through the Jedi Academy but also to the non-force sensitive population of Vulcan. The fiery, passionate Vulcan emotions that had caused so much war and destruction, were now being controlled and used to harness the power of the Force.

Ajunta Pall and his followers took the very notion of emotional suppression as downright offensive. Surak approached his former student once more, pleading for him to return and purge his emotions. Pall replied with an attack on Surak and the rest of the Vulcan people. Although relatively small in number, Pall's forces were powerful in the Force. A terrible war raged across Vulcan, eventually resulting in an apparent victory over the "Sith", or "traitor" in ancient Vulcan. Pall embraced the title given to him and his kin by the Jedi. They would proudly call themselves Sith.

In the final moments of the war, Surak approached Pall for one last time. His forces were beaten, Vulcan was burning in nuclear fire, it was time to reconcile. Surak plead with Pall to surrender, and allow him to demonstrate the clarity of the purging of emotions. Surak was sure his gamble would work, with Pall being defeated. Pall lashed out once again, consumed by fury and hatred, killing Surak before leading the survivors of his people onto the fairly primitive cryogenic spacecraft available to them. The Sith would not submit to having their emotions torn from them, and preferred to leave behind the world that they felt had betrayed them.

Not only Sith went with Pall. There were those among the non-force sensitive Vulcans who agreed with the Sith. They had no desire to live on a world where they would be robbed of their very emotions. Together, the Sith and the Vulcan turncoats fled their world in search of a new home, far away from the tyranny of the Jedi and the teachings of Surak. As the massive vessels began to lift off, Pall spit on the world he once called home, sickened that he ever called himself Vulcan. He would lead his people, his Rihannsu, to a better world.

As the Rihannsu exodus fleet had left Vulcan, a crowd drew around Surak's lifeless corpse. They had defeated the Sith, but at what cost? Their planet was in shambles and their leader was lost. In an astounding moment, Surak's very force essence... his katra... appeared before those gathered around his corpse. In a last address to his people, he implored them to continue on with his teachings, and to take to the stars as their enemies did, for they would surely spread their darkness, the Jedi must spread the light. With that, the visage of Surak disappeared, but the Vulcan people had a purpose. They would explore the stars, seek out new life, and new civilizations, to spread the teachings of the Jedi and forever stand in opposition of the Sith.

    (More to come)

Welcome! And this is a brilliant wonderful start! You had me at Vulcan Jedi! LOL Spock with a lightsaber and he, like Luke did with Mara Jade, gives it to Nyota Uhura. [face_laugh] (S/U are one of my One True Pairings.) [face_love]

    Just wait.

Although right now, I think i'm kind of downplaying Spock. He has an important thing to do, but he's not in it much.

A glimpse of the (far) future from where it's at now, i'll spill the beans on Luke... and Kirk. They're a fused character. James Kirk grew up on Earth, totally unaware of his true past, until events unfold and he learns his father George is not his birth father, and James Kirk was not his birth name... he was taken away from his true father at birth by Obi-Wan Kenobi, to live with his friends on their farm in Iowa on Earth. James Kirk has to struggle with his revelation of his... "Luke Skywalkers"... past.

I *DO* kinda sorta have Mara Jade. I don't have much for Uhura at the moment. Where i'm at now we tend to lean more heavily on Star Wars situations, and titled more towards Trek characters (but, most are at least pieces of others... at some point we get Picard, who is like... 90% Picard, 10% Gilad Palleon.) I'll post some more of the story tommorrow. As we go on it gets wild. We don't get to Data for a long time, but Data might be my favorite part of the whole thing.

Next Up: The Sith Exodus and the Annexation of the Klingons of Korriban

The Sith Exodus and the Annexation of the Klingons of Korriban

Ajunta Pall, his Sith followers and the rest of the Rihannsu fleeing from Vulcan drifted the cosmos for quite some time in cryo stasis, waiting to find a suitable world to reestablish themselves. Periodically, some would awaken temporarily to analyze scanner data and maintain the pods. On on such occasion, fortune favored the Rihannsu as their sleeper ships happened upon an ancient, derelict starship on unknown origin. Many awoke and took to studying the vessel, coming to the realization that it was equipped with a faster than light drive system. While they didn't have time to understand the technology behind it, they were able to get it operational and even duplicate the technology for use on their entire flotilla. Now equipped with rudimentary FTL, the Rihannsu could truly begin their search in earnest.

Within reach of their newly acquired drive system was a planet deemed capable of supporting life. The Rihannsu exodus fleet approached the world to discover it had a primitive native population. This world was chosen to be their new homeworld, the natives to be used a servant and labor class to help establish themselves. The Rihannsu forces were able to quickly subdue the natives, although they were able to put much more of a fight than anticipated. Despite being akin to savages fighting with swords, these Klingons as they called themselves were fierce warriors. Also curious, Ajunta Pall noticed something he didn't think was possible. He could sense the Force in some of these savages. It was not something unique to Vulcans.

The Rihannsu established themselves on the world, utilizing their Klingon slaves and laborers to build up their world, which they named Korriban. The Sith established a temple to both continue their studies into the mysteries of the dark side as well as serving as their seat of power on the new world. Despite some protests from other Sith, Ajunta Pall saw fit to uplift some of the force sensitive Klingons to create more Sith. Using his mastery of the dark side, Pall was able to achieve unnaturally long life, even for a Vulcan. For several centuries, he lorded over Korriban. Towards the end of his life, he had taken on two apprentices. Both native Klingons, both wildly powerful in the force. Pall was amazed at how quickly the Klingons were able to manifest abilities, their emotions being even more powerful than those of the Vulcans. These Klingons were filled with anger and hate, perfect fuel for dark side mastery. Molor and Kahless would be placed into a state of constant competition, vying for the approval of their master.

It was apparent fairly quickly that Molor wad the favored apprentice of Ajunta Pall. Kahless, despite being a great warrior and a powerful force user, was too connected to his people. Molor no longer saw himself as "Klingon", replaced entirely by his Sith identity. Kahless never cared for the title. He was a Klingon warrior first and foremost, and hoped to use his power for the betterment of the Klingon people. Molor reveled in the power of the Sith, to the delight of Ajunta Pall. While incredibly powerful in the dark side, the march of time would eventually take its toll on Pall, who by this point had named Molor "Dark Lord of the Sith" and left much of the day to day running of Korriban to him. With Molor now effectively in charge of Korriban, he became tyrannical. What little agency the Klingon people had was destroyed, with Molor not even recognizing them as people. The Rihannsu weren't much better off. Even the other Sith bowed before Darth Molor. Pall would finally succumb to death, leaving Darth Molor as uncontested ruler of Korriban.

Kahless had enough. He realized he was wrong for ever pursuing the power of the Sith, seeing how it corrupted Molor into even more of a monster than he already was. He left the Sith Order, instantly becoming a fugitive in the eyes of Molor. Kahless returned to his people, hiding out among the population and plotting the downfall of Darth Molor. The downtrodden Klingons rallied behind him. Eventually, Kahless would command a mighty armor of Klingon rebels, ready to strike. However Kahless knew that he only he could stand against Molor himself, and he had to acknowledge that Molor was more powerful. Kahless needed an advantage. Among his retinue were former slaves working on Korriban's moon Dxun, mining a mysterious metal for the Sith. They had returned with a good amount of the material. Kahless realized what it was, he had heard about it during his time as a Sith. Pall and Molor had discovered Beskar on Dxun, a metal resistant to their weapon of choice, the lightsaber.

Kahless took the Beskar ore to a foundry, where Klingon artisans crafted a mighty weapon for him. He named it Bat'leth, the sword of Kahless. A blade of pure beskar. With that weapon in hand, Kahless stood a chance to face Molor. The uprising began. Klingons across Korriban took arms against their Sith oppressors. The non-force sensitive Rihannsu, despite also being oppressed, still took to the defense of "their" people over the Klingons, despite their leader being Klingon. The Sith were unable to withstand the waves of enraged Klingon warriors and were pushed all the way back to the Sith Temple.

Darth Molor himself emerged to fight, met by Kahless. Molor had been awaiting the day he could kill his former peer, and that day had come. Molor engaged his fiery-red lightsaber, laughing at Kahless' pitiful band of rebels. Kahless raised his Bat'leth, ready to fight. Molor scoffed, pointing out the audacity of Kahless resorting to using a simple sword to fight him. Molor went for what he thought would be an easy death blow, and was caught off guard when Kahless blocked the strike with his sword. It took Molor a moment of disbelief to realize what the sword was. The two engaged in an epic battle, trading blows and force attacks at each other. In the end, Kahless knocked the lightsaber from Molor's hand. A defenseless Molor, realizing his last moments were upon him, remembered his true heritage. He was Klingon, and was ready to die a warriors death. Kahless obliged, cleanly severing Molor's head from his shoulders with one motion from his Bat'leth.

Kahless brought Molor's head back to the Sith Temple. The Klingons had won the day, they had seized their home. Most of the survivng Sith had made it back to their old ships, ready to flee. Kahless, recognizing the honor Sith and Rihannsu alike showed in their battle, offered a one time mercy... they could present themselves and claim a warriors death, or they could leave Korriban. Nearly all of them chose the latter, loading back into their old starships that had originally brought them to their new world and leaving what they though was their new home. Some Klingon-Sith remained on the planet, ready to to accept their honorable death. Kahless denied them their death in battle, instead demanding they pledge to serve the Klingon people. They would find an honorable death, but not on this day. They agreed.

In the throne room of the Sith Temple, Kahless sat upon the throne, Molor's head at his feet. The Sith who had remained bowed to him, attempting to name him Darth Kahless, Lord of the Sith. Kahless rejected the title. He was not Sith, he was Klingon. He would accept the rule of his people, but not as a Sith. Kahless declared himself Emperor, and announced the formation of the Klingon Empire. The formerly fractured planet was now in support of uniting as one under Kahless the Unforgettable. His first act was to address the remaining Sith, stripping them of their title. Kahless vowed the Sith would never rule over Klingons again. They agreed, vowing to use their abilities for the betterment of the Klingon Empire, shedding their old Sith title. They took the title of "Dahar Master", in honor of ancient, mythological Klingon warriors with abilities beyond those of normal warriors. The former Sith Order of Korriban would reorganize into the Order of the Bat'leth, commemorating the weapon that felled Darth Molor.

The Sith regalia was removed, and the old Sith Temple would become the Great Hall of the Klingon Empire. Now armed with advanced technology from their Sith oppressors, the Klingon Empire was set to become more powerful than they could have ever imagined. As the last vestiges of the Sith were destroyed, there was one last order. Korriban, the name given to their planet by their oppressors, would now be a cursed word among Klingons. The planet would be renamed to Qo'nos, the name given to their world by their ancestors.

The Sith fleet once again found themselves displaced from their home, searching for a new world among the stars. Their ancient vessels were in disrepair after centuries of neglect, they needed to find a new world quickly. With little time to spare, they found a hostile world that could... just barely... support life. They landed once again to find themselves a new home. This world would become known as "Exegol", although it soon became apparent that the Sith could not flourish there forever...

Coming Up: (not necessarily in order)
    The Sith Empire
The Jedi Missionaries, Hyperdrive and Coruscant
    Earth and the Human Expansion
The Mandalorians, the Klingon Empire and the Klinzhai.
The Jedi Civil War / Jedi Schism / Ruusan Reformation (Ruusan Reformation is name-only, it has basically nothing to do with actual SW Ruusan... it'll make sense when we get there.)

A bit more down the line:
The Coalition of Coruscant, the Earth-Sith War and the foundation of The Republic
The Clone Wars, Order 66/Khitomer Massacre and the United Federation of Planets
    The Galactic Empire

    Even more down the line:
The First Order, Snoke and The Dominion (includes Thrawn and Picard).
The First Order War, The Return of Palpatine and Data (Reanimation Evaluation - Yirt... "RE:Y")
Picard, Kirk and The Final Order

Somewhere along the line, there's some side stories or smaller things to do in this world. The Imperial Occupation of Ryloth/Rylothian Wormhole is important to the First Order War... Ryloth being somewhat fused with Bajor, a notable character there being Hera Syndulla... who is like, 60/40 Hera and Kira. On the flip, Sisko is just Sisko. There's kind of a side story with Voyager and Mortis

When we get WAY into his, to the era of First Order War, there's fun things. Data/Rey. Finn gets an overhaul... he's not exactly a Stormtrooper. He's from the Mirror Universe.

I'm excited to get to the Picard stuff, too. He gets perhaps the most wild changes to a character, but I think it works. Fits with kind of Sad Picard, he's a Republic Starfleet Officer who stays on with the Empire out of duty and the desire to try to make things better. His badass mark on this universe is that he 100% knows Darth Vader's secret and actively uses it blackmail him/protect himself when he defies terrible Imperial orders.

(Note: Some of these are written over vast swaths of time. I'm focusing on specific things, more like a Wiki entry on it. At some point, i'm going to make a chronology of this... current mindset is that the Sith Exodus occurs about 2,200 years prior to the Republic, and then the Republic stands for 1,000 years, so Clone Wars/Empire all that happens like 3,200-3,300 years after the Sith leave Vulcan. Everything else... happens... kind of when it happens right now. Feel free to place things in your head where you think they fit.)

    The Sith Empire

The decision to land the fleet on Exegol was an act of desperation, as many of the ships were malfunctioning, having sat for centuries on Korriban with little to no maintenance. The Rihannsu found themselves on a harsh world, its surface inhospitable to life but its vast network of subterranean caverns proved livable. To their surprise, much as their former world of Korriban, they discovered a small native population eeking out a living on the barren world. The Rihannsu found these beings to be repulsive, reminding them of ancient tales of mythological demonic creatures back on Vulcan. Dubbed "Remans" after the lore of old, the Rihannsu once again subjugated the locals as a servant class. Perhaps for the better, the Sith did not detect force sensitivity among them.

The Rihannsu survived on Exegol, often referred to as "Remus" or a Vulcan version of hell, for about a century without much of note occurring. The time of relative peace would end with the ascension of Marka Ragnos to Dark Lord of the Sith. Ragnos would no longer accept the dismal situation on Exegol, vowing to make the Sith powerful once again. Ragnos ruled with a heavy hand, becoming the absolute and uncontested ruler of his people, stripping rights away from all non-Sith. The Rihannsu would no longer have any say in Sith affairs, they existed purely to serve the Sith. Having consolidated his power, Ragnos moved to the next step. In order to gain the power he so craved, he demanded not only subservience, but worship. Ragnos was determined to not just be a Dark Lord, but an actual god. The Sith Cult formed, the entire population of Exegol forced to worship Ragnos.

With the cult firmly in place over several decades, the difference between forced worship and actual belief blurred. The Rihannsu and Remans were forced to worship their god long enough that many started to truly believe in it. With adherents beginning to expand their worship beyond what was forced, the cult of the Sith organically transformed into something more, becoming the Sith Eternal. It is lost to history if it was imposed by Ragnos or if the Sith Eternal took it upon themselves, but experimentation began with implanting cultists with cybernetic implants. What is clear is that Ragnos planned to use this as a means to gain more power, eventually creating a cybernetic army forced to bend to his will, and expand out beyond the confines of their prison world.

However, while the Sith Eternal became powerful, not all of the population of Exegol were voluntary adherents. Tensions began to rise, especially as the Sith Eternal escalated the cybernetic experimentations and began to force unwanted implants on the populace. A rebellion broke out, started by normal, non-force sensitive Rihannsu and Remans to protect themselves from the Sith Eternal. Two middling Sith decided to take advantage of the situation. Naga Sadow and Ludo Kresh both took the risk and stood against Ragnos, both rising to lead factions of Rihannsu against Ragnos and the Sith Eternal.

The Sith Civil War raged for a decade, Marka Ragnos succumbing to the combined forces of Kressh and Sadow. The alliance would be short lived, as with Ragnos out of the way, both Sith laid claim to the throne of Exegol. The fighting continued on for some time, resulting in a standstill. The two Sith met to discuss what should be done, and came to an agreement. They agreed to both take on the mantle of Dark Lord of the Sith. The Sith would split into two, Kressh taking control over Exegol and the Sith Eternal, Sadow taking his faction to expand out into the stars. They came to an agreement that both Sith factions would remain separate entities, but would always remain Sith and could call on each other for aid. The Sith Civil War had officially ended, some Rihannsu leaving with Sadow to once again take to the stars, with the intent of not merely surviving, but to establish a proper Sith Empire.

It would be long before Sadow's fleet discovered yet another planet. This time, they found a verdant world, fully capable of supporting their population, with no native population to contend with. The Rihannsu settled the new world, finding it to be to their liking. Having been a completely uncharted world, it had no name in their ancient Vulcan database, and Sadow dubbed the world "Romulus". Naga Sadow, Dark Lord of the Sith, now also took the title of "Emperor" and formally established the Sith Empire to be ruled from Romulus and reach across the stars.

Over the next century, Romulus rapidly developed. The discovery of Hyperdrive changed the entire course of the Sith Empire, being able to replace their ancient, alien-designed drives that were slow and prone to failure. Hyperdrive open the Sith Empire to the entire galaxy, and it helped them find a new purpose. Meanwhile, as the population of Romulus exploded and the planet developed, the culture shifted. Over time there would be less division between Sith and Rihannsu. While the Sith always remained the ruling class, the Rihannsu gained much more power, being orders of magnitude more prolific in numbers. By the time of the discovery of Hyperdrive, the Sith and Rihannsu no longer considered themselves distinct groups of people, rather they were part of something larger. Sith, Rihannsu, Reman and even the scant Klingons who had remained within their society were now all considered "Romulan". Sith was a title, and the ruling class, but no longer considered to be a different people. In a massive change from times past, the Sith handed off most day to day control of the Empire to non-Sith. The Empire became ruled by a non-Sith Romulan Senate, it's Praetor having almost as much as power as Sith. The Emperor still maintained the power of full control over the Empire, but turned their attention to other matters.

Relatively soon after the discovery of Hyperdrive, Darth Bane ascended to the position of Emperor. Bane ushered in an era of expansion for the Sith Empire, finally breaking the bonds of their world and continuing their imperative laid down by their first Emperor Naga Sadow. Darth Bane already knew his first target. He had no interest in two hundred year old treaties, and set his fleet towards Exegol. Bane found Exegol still in control of the Sith Eternal, and conquered the planet with relative ease.

Rather than simply add Exegol as a jewel in his Empire, Bane decided the planet could serve a better purpose. He was intrigued by the population, having continued their cybernetic implantations over 200 years, as well as it's Dark Lords discovering all manner of secrets of the Dark Side. Exegol was largely worthless as a colony of the Empire, but it was of great interest to the Sith. Darth Bane established "The Rule of Two". Bane took on the title of Dark Lord of the Sith Eternal as well as Emperor, claiming the two factions of Sith as his own. However, the two would remain separate. Exegol would continue on, worshipping the Dark Lord and belong purely to the Sith, while Romulus and the Empire for all Romulans. "Romulus and Remus" were united, but still stood apart.

The Sith Empire would expand to become one of the greatest forces in the galaxy over the next several centuries. During the era of expansion, a curious event began to unfold. Humans... a relative newcomer to the galactic scene, began appearing in the Empire in large numbers, attempting to settle on worlds either in Imperial space or already containing Romulan settlements. At first, the humans were met with suspicion, even hostility. Romulan society at best shunned them, at worst forcibly removed them. The Sith, however, noticed something in these humans. Aside from being especially adaptable to circumstances, they seemed to have an incredible predisposition towards force sensitivity, greater than any race they had encountered before. These humans proved eager to join Romulan society, were willing to abide by their laws, and they provided a pool to train new Sith. By decree of the Emperor, humans became accepted as Romulans and over time would become commonplace in the Empire, much as they would most everywhere else.

As humans expanded into the galaxy, so did Earth itself. The frontier of the Sith Empire slowly crept towards space claimed by Earth. Humans continued to be defiant, claiming worlds closer and closer to the Sith border. Eventually, the Sith Emperor decided Earth's territory would make a fine province of the Empire and launched a massive invasion across the border. Earth mounted a defense far beyond what the Empire had expected. They had also not expected the arrival of forces from other powers in aid of Earth. The Coalition of Coruscant forces arrived to help repel the Sith invasion of Earth, and for the first time in 2,000 years, the Sith came into conflict with their ancient Vulcan ancestors. While the Sith were powerful, they could not take on such a large combined force. After a massive final battle over the planet Charon, the civilian Romulan government offered peace terms to Earth, which the Sith begrudingly accepted. Borders were formally drawn, with a buffer space between the two which simply became known as "The Neutral Zone" established.

After the Earth-Sith War, the Sith Empire became isolated, looking inward on itself and recouping its losses. Despite what was seen a loss by the Empire, it was merely first time, not the last, that the Sith Empire would come into conflict with Earth and it's allies....

Earth, the Coalition of Coruscant, and the founding of The Republic

The people of Earth had attempted to “better themselves” by creating genetically engineered “supermen”. These supermen, known otherwise as “Augments”, promptly gave in to their superior ambition and utilized their superior abilities to carve out vast empires for themselves on Earth. A terrible war ravaged the planet, ultimately ending in the defeat of the Augments as they took to infighting amongst themselves while also trying to fend off the regular people of Earth. Before their empires crumbled completely, the surviving augments took to primitive spacecraft available to Earth and escaped justice. Earth had no real means to make chase, and felt that their imprisonment on sleeper ships would be enough. The fate of the augments is a story for another time…

Centuries passed, with Earth varying between periods of peace and prosperity and terrible wars. In the wake of yet another terrible war that had decimated their world, humans also made a scientific breakthrough. Zephram Cochrane had created the warp drive, and launched his ship. A passing Jedi vessel made note of the craft. They were aware of Earth, but had largely been uninterested in the primitive planet. However, the warp drive caught their attention and they made themselves known to the humans, initiating first contact with the creator of the warp drive.

The Vulcans were amazed. For as long as they had known, hyperspace was the only form of faster than light travel. The humans had created an entirely new drive system, unknown to the Vulcans. They determined it to be much slower than hyperspace, but did not rely on hyperspace lanes, giving it a versatility hyperspace lacked. They also noted how the humans were a bit overly ambitious to get into space. The Vulcans tried to temper what they saw as reckless, humans and cautioned them to move into space with care. They were especially cautious of humans due to detecting great potential for the force in them, far more than any other race they had encountered. The Jedi knew all too well what unchecked recklessness could do.

The humans heeded some of the Vulcans' warnings, and Jedi were dispatched to Earth to help with the rebuilding of their world. Soon enough, humans were mounting expeditions into the stars, beginning to colonize new worlds, and the force was awakening for the young race. Humans began to rapidly move into the stars, making their homes in every corner of the galaxy. The humans would become a curiosity, being omnipresent in near every power, every empire, living among nearly every race. The Vulcans could only delay the human expansion for so long.

Human settlers, as with most friendly spacefaring races, found their way to the Vulcan world of Notrom. Being in a relative center point and hub of hyperlanes, Notrom became a metropolitan world that the Vulcans welcomed others to settle on. Given the vast commercial and political opportunities its location afforded, everyone wanted a piece of Notrom. Human settlements covered vast areas of the world in time, along with several other races. The world naturally became a forum for the exchange of ideas, with the humans having the opportunity to show another of their aptitudes, diplomacy.

While the Vulcans had named the world “Notrom”, for reasons lost to history, many other races took to calling the world “Coruscant”. Earth settlements preferred the name, and they used it when leading the charge petitioning the Vulcan government to release the world as an independent entity. Many races signed on to “The Coalition of Coruscant”, asking for the world to be neutral ground. The Vulcans only ever saw the world as a staging ground for their exploration efforts and as a satellite location for the Jedi Academy, and were happy to oblige. The Coalition of Coruscant became the governing body of the world, and first stirrings of a larger alliance to come. Not only was the Coalition responsible for the governance of Coruscant, it also hosted the Coalition Council, intended to give a formal arena for discourse among the member races. Coruscant continued to grow, becoming an ecumenopolis and even more of a galactic center for trade, culture, politics and the exchange of ideas.

Sometime after the founding of the Coalition of Coruscant, Earth came into conflict with the Sith Empire. The Sith desired a larger empire, and Earth’s territory sat on their doorstep. The Sith Empire claimed the legitimacy of their attacks by claiming Earth colonies violated their territory, but with the Sith being so enigmatic, the borders of their space were poorly defined. Most Coalition members did not buy the excuse, full well knowing the Sith’s propensity for aggression. The Sith launched a massive invasion of Earth territory, which Earth met in kind. Much to the shock of the Sith Empire, Coalition members sent forces to help their allies. With the combined might of several powers, the Sith Empire was stopped, peace was restored, borders established along with the Neutral Zone separating the two powers.

The Earth-Sith War had lasting effects on galactic politics. The Sith had failed to add Earth to their Empire, and actively brought their allies closer together. Holding a summit on Coruscant, Earth called for representatives from all Coalition worlds. Citing their cooperation in fending off the Sith, and acknowledging not only the threat they continued to pose, but also other hostile races as well, that is was in everyone’s best interest to formally establish closer bonds. It was not an immediate process, but negotiations began to take place and eventually… the members of the Coalition of Coruscant agreed upon and drafted the Galactic Constitution which would create the new Galactic Republic, often simply referred to as “The Republic”. The Consitution was quickly ratified by the members, and the Age of The Republic began, its capital being Coruscant, and the Coalition Council evolving into the Republic Senate.

It took a bit longer for the Republic to decide on the matters of a military. One of the first decisions, largely spurred on by the Jedi Order, was that the Jedi would not formally be a part of the government. The Jedi felt that being integrated into the government would not be compatible with their teachings, but vowed to protect the Republic, just as they had always done. The Senate disagreed on the nature of a Republic military. Many of the disagreements had to do with local, planetary security vs. committing forces to the Republic at large. Earth, having always been the driving force behind the entire institution, offered a potential solution. It’s Starfleet had grown to be a massive organization in its own right. As a show of good faith to the Republic, Earth offered to make an investment beyond anyone's expectations; they were willing to transfer their Starfleet, in its entirety, to the Republic. While some members saw it as something a power imbalance to give Earth even more influence than it already had, it was hard to pass up the financial benefits of simply acquiring an existing force. Given Earth’s general trustworthiness and influence on the Senate, it was agreed and Starfleet transitioned from being under the direct jurisdiction of Earth to the Republic. For ease of logistics, both Starfleet Command and Starfleet Academy remained on Earth.

(Earth's standalone story ends for now, rolling into that of the Republic. But as we know... the Republic doesn't last forever... but what happened to the Augments who fled Earth all that time ago?)

Also a general lore note as I sometimes use the terms interchangeably, by and large pre-Republic(ish), the terms "Jedi" and "Vulcan" are synonymous. Until the Jedi Civil War/Ruusan Reformation, even if a Jedi isn't racially Vulcan, they're trained and live in the Vulcan way. This DOES change, but up until then, Jedi/Vulcan are the same thing in regards to force users. The Jedi Academy/Order is separate..ish from the Vulcan High Command and there are still non-force sensitive Vulcans.

(Breaking this one up, it's alittle longer.)
The Fate of the Augments and The Mandalorians, Part 1:

The augments were adrift in space, lying in their sleep pods, with the hope of eventually reaching a new world to call their own. Prior to escaping, they saved as many of their kind as possible, as well as a fairly massive collection of frozen augment embryos intended to be the next generation of their people. It would not come to pass on Earth, but they were determined to make it somewhere else.

After an indeterminate amount of time in stasis, several augments awakened. They were confused and disoriented, but quickly came to. It was no mistake that they had awakened. A Jedi vessel had come across their ship and investigated. The awakened augments learned about the galaxy from their new Jedi “friends”. They also learned about the advanced technology contained within their ship. The augments convinced the Jedi to awaken more of their people, to aid in finding a new home. While the Jedi would likely have offered their help freely, the augments were wired for aggression.

Taking the small Jedi crew by surprise, the augments ambushed them and managed to seize control of the Jedi vessel. The augments were now in control of a true starship, not the sailboat they had left Earth on. The leader of the awakened augments, Joachim, ordered the rest of their compatriots to be pulled from their stasis. All but one. Joachim could not escape his ambitious nature as an augment, and would not give up his control. It was by sheer happenstance that he was awoken over their Earthly leader, but he would not give up that grace. He was sure that the rest of the augments would not argue with this decision, as their old leader was a terrible tyrant who lorded over them by fear. He would not be missed. Joachim, however, still recognized him as a family, as a brother. He would not kill their old leader. Instead, he would leave him in his stasis pod, on his ship, and to his fate. All of the surviving augments of Earth, along with the frozen embryos, made their way into the cramped Vulcan ship, leaving Khan Noonien-Singh alone to drift through space.

The augments superior intellect allowed them to quickly determine how to operate their stolen vessel, at least in its most basic functions. Joachim was well aware the small vessel was not intended to carry the number of people it now did. His people were crammed into every available crevice, they simply could not exist in such a state for a long period of time. They had to find a way off and they had to find it fast. Referencing the star charts they retrieved from their old ship and cross referencing with the Vulcan navigational computer, they found themselves close to a planet Earth had called “Ceti Alpha V”. The augments set course, and within a reasonable amount of time, arrived.

Ceti Alpha V turned out to be entirely habitable, and the augments created a settlement. As if they had not already been lucky enough with their seizure of the Vulcan ship, they struck a jackpot once again. Upon exploring the planet, they found it to be riddled with ruins from an ancient, advanced alien race. While much of it was destroyed, they did find weapons and technology that were still functional. Their trove of ancient alien technology, coupled with their seized Vulcan ship and its database, allowed them to rapidly understand the technology, uplifting them into a far greater technological level. As they settled in, learned about their newfound technology, the augments yearned for an identity. They had the capability to reach the stars, and would inevitably encounter more aliens. To call themselves humans felt wrong. They were never accepted on Earth, and they were better than humans anyway. Augment was an outright insult to their kind. They found their answer within the ruins of the world. While records of the previous occupants of the planet was sparse, a word that repeated in the aliens partially-deciphered language became of interest, “Mandalore”.

The augments did not know what Mandalore meant, but at the very least, it seemed to be a name. Joachim seemed to take to it, and suggested to his flock that they shed their old Earth identity and become something of their own. He gathered his people to tell them how terrible of a name “Ceti Alpha V” was. That was not the name of a planet of warriors, of supermen. He renamed the planet “Mandalore”, in honor of their mysterious ancient benefactors. It was something they could build their own identity around. They were no longer “augment humans” from “Earth”. They were now… Mandalorians.

Joachim himself would change his name, setting the example for his people. Joachim no longer existed. Tarre Viszla, Mandalorian, was born. Realizing he was asking his people to create an entirely new culture, and being their leader, he needed to nudge that along. He had in his possession a trophy from their acquisition of the Vulcan ship. A curious weapon wielded, in failure, by one of the Jedi. He understood it to be a “lightsaber”. Tarre Viszla made some modifications to it, creating something uniquely his own. The blade went from a bright blue to a deep black. Feeling the need to establish new traditions for his people, this weapon, the Darksaber, would be the symbol of leadership for the Mandalorians.

The Mandalorians would thrive for several centuries, mastering their own planet, not only understanding but improving upon and developing new technology. The frozen embryos from Earth had been born and to bolster their population, the Mandalorians cloned many more. Much of the memory of their origin and passed existence was lost, either on purpose or naturally through time, the Mandalorians simply knowing Mandalore as their home.

They had begun to move to the stars, although their population was small enough that they did not need more room. The Mandalorians craved battle, they craved strength, and they were always on the lookout for technology and wealth. They took to raiding worlds for spoils of war, cutting a swath of destruction through the neighboring systems. Their raids would lead them to the greatest challenge they had thus far faced, when Mandalorian warriors landed on the planet Qo’nos…

(There's some George Lucasian "rhyming stories" in there... Earth and Vulcan are so linked, their history is similar... Vulcans and Sith fought a war, Sith forced off Vulcan... Earth and Augments fought a war, Augments forced off Earth. Both exiles go on to establish powerful empires... and don't worry, we aren't done with Khan.)

Also as we start to get closer to it, my story largely skips over what would be roughly the Original Star Wars trilogy era. Not that I don't want to write it, but I found that it's largely just... the SW OT trilogy, with some different names. Pretty much the same stuff happens. This tends to be more interesting up to Order 66 and the very early Empire, and then the Post-Empire era. The only real difference, and I might write it out here, is how Kirk/Luke gets started on the action. It's almost... kind of... Star Trek 3 The Search For Spock fused into ANH... Captain Kirk finds out his true parentage, yadda yadda happens, he steals the Enterprise to go help the Rebellion and take down the Death Star (which, fires a Genesis Beam. Because. Reasons.)

Hello, there, and welcome to fan fic!

It's always awesome to see a new author posting, but I did want to take a moment to guide you to our Fan Fic FAQ, especially as pertains to "upping" story threads. As a general rule of thumb, it's good forum etiquette to update stories once a day, that way you're not continually bumping your thread to the top of the list.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to either myself or the other fan fic mods. And happy writing! :)

My apologies. Had some time on my hands and went to posting. I will temper myself going forward.

The Mandalorians and The Klingon Empire (Pre-Galactic Empire)

The Klingon Empire was on the cusp of taking its first steps into the stars. When the Sith left their world, they left behind a plethora of technology allowing the Klingons to retain an advanced society. However, the secrets to faster-than-light travel had eluded even the Sith, and the Klingons were not quite able to make it happen themselves. Science was never a strong suit of the Klingon people, but some were dedicated, and seemed to be close to making a breakthrough.

Their efforts would be put on hold with the arrival of yet another would-be conqueror from the stars. It had been several centuries since Kahless drove the Sith from their world, but the Klingons never forgot. It had only given them drive to develop the technology to become the conquerors themselves, and further hone their warrior ways. The Klingons longed for the day that the Empire would grow beyond their homeworld. In the meantime, they would defend their world with everything they had.

The Mandalorians had no previous knowledge of the Klingons. Advance scouts had noted readings of technology coming from the planet, marking it as a potential target for raiding. Several clans joined forces to create a raiding party, landing on the planet and moving to take control. They found the Klingons to be hardy warriors and worthy opponents. As the invaders were not interested in speaking, the Klingons didn’t even know what to call them, simply calling them “Hur’q”, or “outsider” in their language.

The Klingons slowly lost ground to the Mandalorians’ superior firepower and technology, the vast numbers and sheer warrior spirit of the Klingon defenders being the only thing keeping the battle close. The Mandalorians were also not prepared for the Klingons to be so eager to engage in melee combat. Initially confused by the behavior, as they were otherwise an advanced race taking to sword fighting, they soon realized the blades they wielded were like nothing they had seen before. There was something about them that made the Mandalorians need to know more.

The Mandalorian advance had largely been on the outskirts of cities, but eventually they made a push into First City, seat of the Klingon High Council. There, the Mandalorians were pushed back for the first time as they came into conflict with the Dahar Masters of the Order of the Bat’leth. They’re weapons were familiar… a different, yet similar make as their own Darksaber. They also commanded powers beyond anything they had seen, at least in recent memory. Some Mandalorians recalled the stories of their arrival on Mandalore, their forebears having engaged in combat with warriors of similar abilities.

The Dahar Masters had not been Sith for centuries and had moved past all of that, creating their own ways and traditions. They were in fact among the most unique force users in the galaxy, unbeknownst them at the time. They were a uniquely Klingon breed of force user. Their use of lightsaber-like blades was an aggressive, yet artful style. Their force abilities were wild and unstable, almost effortlessly blending light and dark. The Dahar Masters seemed able to tap into their primal, animalistic anger to fuel dark side powers while being resistant to its inherent corruption. They cared little for light or dark, they simply used what came to them.

The Mandalorians found the Dahar Masters to be an almost out of context problem. They simply were not prepared to fight such an enemy. Regardless, they had made great gains and felt confident they could continue their push. Taking heavy loses, the Mandalorians had made their way all the way to the Great Hall of the Klingon Empire. Seeking to put an end to the Hur’q invasion, Klingon Emperor Reclaw emerged from the Hall, demanding a direct challenge to the leader of the invasion forces. The Mandalorians were impressed, and agreed.

The two leaders took to a duel, the Klingon Emperor brandishing the fabled Sword of Kahless. The Mandalorian thought he would make short work of the Klingon warrior, but Emperor Reclaw fought ferociously. The fight raged, in the same place that Kahless once battled Darth Molor. Emperor Reclaw scored a hit with Bat’leth, injuring the Mandalorian. However, the attack had thrown Reclaw off balance and despite the injury, the Mandalorian produced a blade from his wrist, stabbing Reclaw. The two warriors fell to their knees, both severely injured by the blade of the other. After a tense moment, the two warriors eyes locked in each others gaze, Emperor Reclaw smiled at his adversary and let out a guttural laugh. The Klingons surrounding the battle understood. The Mandalorians were confused. However, the Mandalorian commander removed his helmet and joined in the laughter.

The battle was over. Their duel was a draw. They both extended hands, and helped each other up. Words didn’t even need to be spoken as the two men shared a bond of respect. Their battle prowess was equal. There was no reason for them to be enemies. In the end, what started a simple raid turned into the beginnings of a friendship that would define both peoples. They could now talk about a resolution. The Mandalorians wanted to know more about the beskar weapons, and discovered that Qo’nos’ moon Dxun was the source.

The Mandalorians made two proposals, and an offer of their own to withdraw from Qo’nos. They wanted permission to peacefully establish a colony on Dxun to mine the beskar metal. In exchange for the Klingons good will, the Mandalorians offered to share their technology with the Klingons, finally giving the Klingon people a path to the stars. Emperor Reclaw saw no issue. Rather than be seen as conquerors, the Mandalorians on Dxun were welcome allies of the Klingon Empire. The Mandalorians' second proposal was more controversial, but the Emperor understood. It was clear the Sword of Kahless held important symbolic meaning to the Klingon Empire, just as the Darksaber did to his. While he was unsure if his side would honor the agreement, it was suggested the two exchange their sacred weapons, solidifying their new alliance born of war. The Mandalorians would take the Sword of Kahless to Mandalore, while the Darksaber would stay on Qo’nos.

Emperor Reclaw agreed, and the Klingon/Mandalorian was born from the ashes of war. Two warrior peoples uniting out of mutual respect for each other's abilities. While the alliance began as a loose agreement between the two, the changing state of the galaxy would eventually lead to closer ties.

    The Klinzhai

As both the Mandalorians and Klingon Empire expanded their territories, so too did other powers. The Sith Empire was an ever present adversary to all. The Republic had formed, creating a huge new potential enemy. The Hutt Syndicate held vast power along the outer rim. Many smaller, yet still formidable powers existed all around their respective territories. Both Mandalorians and Klingons were responsible for their own Empire’s, but they were happy to join in a battle with their allies.

Both Empires would fight a series of wars against various powers, especially both the Republic and Sith Empire, who both bordered the two territories. Both were still interested in expanding their empires, but the constant need to man the Sith and Republic fronts stifled their expansion. Having recently uncovered some of the Mandalorians old past from their earliest days on Mandalore, Jango Fett approached the Klingons with an idea. Fett proposed the creation of a unified fighting force, able to act independently and keep their borders with the Republic and Sith Empire secure. Rather than simply dedicating troops, Fett had other plans.

Jango Fett had accidentally rediscovered a trove of information about the first Mandalorians. He learned all about their origins, the genetic augmentations, and the cloning done in the early days. What if, Fett proposed, the Mandalorians and Klingons utilized these techniques to create a new fighting force. Something both Klingon and Mandalorian. The Klingons were skeptical, but we were willing to hear out Fett. Jango Fett went back to Mandalore to work on his plan, returning to Qo’nos with his creation… a warrior, cloned from the base of his own DNA, augmented with Klingon genes. These new warriors could be grown en masse, matured quickly, and used to provide a near endless number of troops.

The Klingons approved, and mass production of the new troops began. They were named “Klinzhai” and intended to operate semi-autonomously. Both the Klingons and Mandalorians supplied them with vessels and weapons. After some time, both Empires were shocked to discover the Klinzhai had, on their own, developed their own vessels. The D-7 Battlecruiser, a fusion of Klingon and Mandalorian technology, became the symbol of the Klinzhai. The soldiers even established something of a culture of their own, a blending of both peoples.

The Republic would eventually create their own take on a clone army, similar to the Klinzhai.

(The Klinzhai do two things... they're effectively TOS Klingons, but they're also Jango clones. When we get to the Clone Wars, it will become apparent why I went this way... the Republic clones aren't Jango clones, but I felt like it was a crime to not have Jango clones. So... I made it work. )

I realize I kind of skipped over the Jedi missions... but it's not a super interesting part anyway. TL;DR version, Vulcan Jedi develop Hyperspace, map routes, contact new races and discover new force sensitives. Notrom is settled, a satellite Vulcan Jedi Academy is established, Notrom becomes a hub, yadda yadda.

The Jedi Civil War and the Ruusan Reformation

Some time before the creation of the Republic, but after the Coalition of Coruscant, tensions began to bubble over in the Jedi Order. For two millennia, the Vulcans had trained those with an affinity for the force in their ways, the teachings of Surak. Having learned from their mistake that nearly cost them their homeworld, the Vulcans taught Jedi to control their emotions. While such strict emotional control took well not only those Vulcans who were Jedi, but the people as a whole, it was not always the case for outsiders. The Jedi often had trouble integrating new force sensitives into the Surakite way, often times exiling Jedi aspirants from the Order.

The Jedi Academy on Coruscant exacerbated the issue, having become the primary hub of Jedi activity, its students exposed to so many different outside perspectives. The Jedi remained unflinching in their doctrine, their fear of producing another Ajunta Pall ingrained into their very being. Their strict doctrine of emotional suppression may have actually had some opposite effect, having exiled untold numbers of force sensitives to fend for themselves.

One such Jedi Exile would launch the Jedi Civil War. Sybok had attained the rank of Jedi Master before having a change of heart, the desire to experience emotions outweighing his duty to the Jedi Order. At first he hid his experimentations with emotions, but eventually became flagrant, actively endorsing Jedi to reject the Surakite teachings. He became the first ever Jedi Master exiled from the Order, but Sybok would not simply disappear. Over some years, Sybok began searching out other Jedi Exile's and force sensitives to train himself. He believed in the overall goals of the Jedi, but disagreed that the emotional suppression was necessary. Hate, anger and fear could lead to the dark side, but love, compassion and joy could bring great things to the Light. Sybok became a fugitive to both the Jedi and the Vulcan High Command, who enforced emotional suppression on all Vulcans by law.

Meanwhile, in the deserts of Vulcan, another group outside of the purview of the Jedi Order came under their scrutiny. Led by Vulcan Jedi Knight Syraan, did not reject the emotional suppression of the Surakites, but also believe that the Jedi had misunderstood the teachings of Surak. Syraan believe that emotional suppression was meant for the Vulcan people, and that their techniques could be of benefit to others, but not necessary. The Syraanites argued that the Jedi Order's strict doctrine was incompatible with the Vulcan ideal of Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations. Syraan was exile from the Order as well, some adherents leaving the Vulcan Jedi Academy along with him. Further drawing the ire of the Jedi Order, Syraan claimed to be in the possession of the Kir'Shara, a long lost datacron of ancient Jedi knowledge and, according to legend, the katric ark of Surak's force essence. The High Command and the Jedi Order dismissed such claims.

The Vulcan High Command launched an attack on the Syraanites, intending to silence them. Word traveled quickly, and Sybok's order was able to make its way to Vulcan and help their potential allies. The non-force wielding High Command forces were unable to deal with two factions of force users, calling on the Jedi Order for aid. This caused a stir among the Jedi. T'Plana Hath, matron the Vulcan Jedi Academy found the request reasonable and dispatched Jedi to apprehend the Syraanites. The move did not sit well with many Jedi, especially non-Vulcans. The Jedi had always practiced exile, they were not soldiers to attack those who were once their own. The Syraanites had to the best of anyone's knowledge not succumbed to the dark side, nor had they done anything violent or threatening. Several Jedi sent to apprehend the Syraanites helped them flee Vulcan, to refuge on Coruscant.

Tarsus Valorum, Chancellor of Coruscant, was outspoken against T’Plana Hath’s orders and proclaimed the Syraanites to have immunity on his world. The Syraanites arrived with Sybok and his followers and we met with a message from T’Plana Hath, a request for discussion at the Coruscant Jedi Academy. Valorum, Syraan and Sybok were overjoyed that the Jedi we ready to resolve the issue peacefully and cautiously took her up on her invitation.

Arriving at the Coruscant Jedi Academy, they found themselves immediately in a trap. The Vulcan High Command had secretly dispatched troops to reinforce the Surakite loyalist Jedi. Valorum, Syraan and Sybok were not entirely unprepared, calling in their own forces along with sympathetic Jedi. Tipping the balance of power, Earth had sent a fleet to assist with the initial intent of facilitating talks. Once the High Command had revealed their forces, Earth joined the battle on the side of the Syraanites and Sybok, less interested in the affairs of the Jedi, instead contesting the Vulcans violation of the sovereign territory of Coruscant. While the Jedi and Vulcan High Command forces were engaged in a battle at the Jedi Academy on the surface, the Vulcan fleet in orbit did not engage with the Earth fleet.

The engagement in the Jedi Academy had turned to the favor of the Syraanites and Sybok, especially as more Jedi either laid down their weapons or actively changed sides. As the battle raged, more and more thought that it simply felt wrong. This was not how Jedi behaved. This was not how Vulcans behaved. The the Surakite forces largely repelled, the Syraanites planned to interface the Kir’shara with the Jedi Library to find its secrets. Shortly after breaching the library, leader of the High Command V’Las approached the group. Nobody expected him to arrive, and Syraan mistakenly assumed that he had come to personally negotiate. He was proved wrong, as V’Las produced a lightsaber that ignited red and plunged it into Syraan’s chest.

Syraan’s acolyte T’Pau was able to overpower V’Las, but he did manage to escape. With word of what had transpired quickly working through the Academy, the fighting ceased. It was clear to all what had happened. The Sith had infiltrated the very top of the Vulcan High Command and instigated the entire situation, presumably to weaken the Jedi. Several other Sith were discovered and rooted out, leaving T’Pau the ranking Syraanite and the key to activating the Kir’shara.

Upon interfacing with the Academy library, the Kir’shara began to glow with life. It began to transmit data to the library’s databanks, creating a treasure trove of long-lost ancient Jedi knowledge. T’Pau believed that the Kir’shara held the data, but she was never convinced that the Kir’shara was Surak’s katric ark, a beacon for Surak’s force essence. She was wrong. Surak manifested to those assembled in the library. He spoke to T’Pau, informing her that he did not have much time. He passed on his regret that the Vulcans had become so zealous in their focus on emotional suppression. Surak never intended for that. He wanted the Vulcans to go forth and teach the galaxy about the light side of the force and create an army to defend against the practitioners of the dark side. The emotional suppression, he believed, was necessary for Vulcans but others should find their own way.

The revelation shook the Jedi to its core. In the immediate aftermath of the battle and Surak’s temporary return, the leaders of the various factions met in the council chambers of the Coruscant Jedi Academy. T’Pau, Sybok, and T’Plana Hath met to discuss how the Jedi would move forward. T’Plana Hath expressed regret that she had been manipulated by the Sith, but T’Pau and Sybok were not looking for revenge. She was still a greatly respected Jedi and she would still hold a place on the council.

An official summit was held on the planet Ruusan to decide the fate of the Jedi. The talks went on for some time but were eventually met with a compromise. The Jedi would be reorganized. The Jedi Academy on Coruscant would officially become the primary headquarters of the Jedi, while the Vulcan Jedi Academy would remain a refuge for those following the Surakite way. To differentiate between the two, the Coruscant Academy would take on the name of the “Jedi Temple”. The new Jedi Order was still united as one, with a more liberal application of a newly established Jedi Code. The Surakite Order was still accepted, but not enforced. Jedi simply now had more choices in how they explored the Force while still being united. T’Pau and Sybok took over as the custodians of the new Jedi Temple, with T’Plana Hath returning to the Jedi Academy to shepard the Surakites. Eventually, the Surakite Order would be almost exclusively Vulcan.

The Ruusan Reformation heralded a new era for the Jedi. Many of those formerly exiled returned to the Order. A newfound fear of the Sith emerged, as if they had infiltrated the Vulcan High Command, many wondered where else they may be. The Reformation had political effects outside of just the Jedi, recognized as a key event in helping move the Coalition of Coruscant from just a planetary government into a greater alliance of galactic powers, ultimately paving the way for the creation of The Republic. It also reintroduced the Sith as a true threat to the galaxy, having long been ignored to the point of being almost mythical.

Wow, this is something else. The way you're weaving the two worlds together is really interesting.
TBH, I can't say I'm the biggest fan of what you did with Tarre Viszla. Though that might just be because I'm emotionally attached to the idea of Tarre Viszla being a Mandalorian Jedi and that somehow by some convoluted means connects to the concept of a Mand'alor Kenobi AU.....

Don't mind me, I'm just over here being unhinged about my faves.

Any and all criticism is welcome!

I consider all of this to very much be a work in progress... i've gone through a different iterations. My reasoning here was that I wanted to establish the first leader of the "Mandalorians" as an named character we knew. In this case, Tarre Vizsla wasn't a Jedi... he killed on and took his weapon. Although I have put some thought into retooling that story a bit to have the Jedi come to investigate their missing ship and having an early Jedi/Mandalorian "war" that culminates in Vizsla agreeing to go off with the Jedi, but returning later after not being able to adapt to the Surakite rules.

I have some stuff planned for Din. He's kind of a departure from his canon story, but also kinda sorta works. I'm not like, worried about spoilers because things you expect to happen... happen. The Empire glasses Mandalore, the Mandalorians mostly scatter, Din ends up with the Darksaber and reluctantly takes up leadership, bringing his people into the Klingon Empire and rather than simply having an alliance between the two, the Klingons and Mandalorians become one. Din's story "ends" with him having to fight Klingon Chancellor Gowron, who ends up being a changeling imposter and attempting to orchestrate the First Order War, as Gowron decided to break the ancient treaties with the Mandalorians and not allow them refuge with the Klingon Empire. in his travels, Din actually acquired both the Darksaber and the Sword of Kahless from Mandalore... after he defeats Gowron in combat and holding the two symbols of power for both people, he takes his place as the reluctant but rightful ruler of both... creating something new.

    (Long One Incoming)
The Clone Wars - Order 66 and the Khitomer Massacre - The United Federation of Planets

The galaxy had come to be dominated by three main powers, The Republic, The Sith Empire and the Klingon Empire/Mandalorian Alliance. Periods of peace were marred by skirmishes along the borders, each of them increasing tensions in a three way struggle. Those tensions boiled over when several internal issues within The Republic led to a region along the Sith Empire border to secede, petitioning to join the Sith. The Sith Empire accepted and immediately began to move vessels across the Neutral Zone into their new territory.

The Republic warned the Sith to halt their incursions into the Neutral Zone and did not recognize the breakaway region as Sith territory. War was threatened if the Sith did not obey the ancient treaty. The Sith rejected the Republic’s threats, citing as they not only had the right to move their forces into this territory, but a duty to protect the new citizens of the Empire. The Republic had no choice, and moved to engage Sith forces.

Meanwhile, the Klingons watched the situation closely. Their people were eager to engage in such an epic war, but they needed to find the right time. The waiting would not take long, as shortly after the war began, the Klingon moon of Dxun violently exploded, destroying the Mandalorian enclave and threatening the stability of the Klingon Empire. The only way to prevent the Empire from falling in on itself was to push its warriors to an outside enemy. The Republic was blamed for the explosion, true or not, and the Klingon Empire entered the war. Initially fighting the Republic, the Klingons' war fervor quickly brought them into conflict with the Sith as well, creating a three way war all around.

The Republic was now faced with a two front war, and although the largest of the powers, the Senate was unsure of its ability to fight. The bulk of the Republic Starfleet was already tied up on the Sith front, leaving the Klingon border vulnerable. The Klinzhai were the vanguard of the Klingon and Mandalorian forces, wreaking havoc along the border region. With Starfleet busy with the Sith, the Jedi took to arms against the Klingons in defense of the Republic. However, the Jedi were not an army and had limited means. By what seemed like sheer luck, human scientist Arik Soong had approached the Senate and the Jedi with a potential solution…

Some years ago, Soong had been attached to a Starfleet vessel that had discovered an ancient ship, adrift in space. To his surprise, the vessel had a long occupant, what appeared to be a human frozen in cryogenic suspension. Scans indicated the vessel to be well over a thousand years old, yet somehow the man in suspension still lived. He was revived and studied, Soong realized he was more than just a human. He was something else, a superman. While ancient Earth history had been fragmented, Soong knew of the legend of the Augments. Nobody was sure if they were even real, but Arik Soong knew they were, and this man proved it. Khan Noonien-Singh, the last of the Augments, returned with Soong to Coruscant.

Soong had become obsessed with Khan, attempting to recreate his genetic modifications to little success. However, working with the cloners of Kamino, Soong and the Kaminoans were able to produce a clone. A perfect, newborn clone of Khan. Jedi Knight Sifo Dyas had learned of the Augment and Soong’s work, and was so impressed that on behalf of the Jedi, he had instructed the Kaminoans to utilize Khan’s genetic template to create an army. Dyas was convinced that the Republic would come to war with the Klingon Empire eventually, and they needed a force to counter their Klinzhai. The Republic would have a clone army of their own, super soldiers bred for war. Although would come to see the clones as his children, personally training them and developing a bond. The original clone, completely unaltered, he considered to be his true son, naming him Boba. Boba Noonien-Singh would not be old enough to fight in the war, but trained among the clones and his father Khan.

Back into the time of the wars, the Jedi and whatever Starfleet forces could stretch out to cover the Klingon front were losing territory, when the first batch of the clones were ready to deploy to battle. The influx of the super soldiers allowed the Republic to gain back some lost territory. However, despite their effectiveness, there were some in the Senate who were concerned. This army was apparently built in secret by the Jedi, and now Chancellor Palpatine had access to an army of super soldiers and ever increasing executive power. Several Senators met to discuss the situation and challenge Palpatine’s growing authority. Among the most vocal was a group led by Padme Amidala of Naboo and Jonathan Archer of Earth, along with Mon Mothma of Chandrila and Thy’Lek Shran representing Andor. The four were so concerned over Palpatine’s rise in authority that they began to secretly lay plans for another succession from the Republic.

The war raged for several years, wreaking havoc on the galaxy. A glimmer of hope presented itself as Ambassador Spock took to the Senate floor and presented a call to peace. Klingon Chancellor Gorkon and the Sith representative Praetor Dooku had agreed to a peace summit to discuss a potential end to the war. Choosing the neutral planet Khitomer, that had straddled something near to the middle of all three powers and had long been on either side of each neutral zone, hosted the summit. Delegates from all three powers gathered, apparently ready to actually discuss peace.

(As the official narrative goes…) The Khitomer Accords would never come to be as the
Jedi chose that moment of weakness to make their move against the galaxy in an attempt to reclaim their former power. Throughout the Republic, the Jedi turned on their clone armies and attempted to seize power. Jedi Master Mace Windu attempted to assassinate Chancellor Palpatine, but his attempt was thwarted, with Palpatine able to escape from Coruscant. With Palpatine and much of the Republic leadership away from Coruscant, the Jedi had appeared to seize control of the Republic. As those events unfolded, Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker entered the grand chamber where the summit was taking place and slaughtered all those in attendance. It was clear that the Jedi had rebelled against the Republic and committed atrocities in their seizure of power, while also in a coordinated attack decapitated the leadership of the three powers, and disabling much of the largely droid army of the Sith Empire.

Chancellor Palpatine, from a now undisclosed location, enacted Order 66, triggering the Clone Army to seek out any and all Jedi as enemies. Given the Republic had fallen and the Sith were the traditional enemies of the Jedi, Order 66 also ordered the Clone Army to defect to the Sith Empire in retribution and annihilate the Jedi usurpers. In a shocking turn of events, with the Sith Fleet in shambles from the protracted war, the droid army disabled, and much of their leadership dead, clones had delivered Palpatine to Romulus. The Romulan Senate had little choice but to allow Palpatine to address them.

Republic Chancellor Palpatine delivered an impassioned speech to the Sith Empire via the Romulan Senate Chamber, apologizing to the Sith for thousands of years of abuse due to Jedi propaganda. Palpatine vowed to destroy the Jedi once and for all for their treachery, that the war was not over, only that the Republic and Sith Empire were fighting the wrong enemy. Rather than fighting each other, the true enemy was the Jedi all along, responsible for all of the problems that led to the war. Palpatine publicly renounced the Republic, decrying it as a thousand-year con by the Jedi. At the end of speech, he made an appeal to the Sith Empire. He vowed to destroy the Jedi and unite the galaxy, but he would need help. His clone army remained loyal, he called upon Starfleet to join him, and he called upon the Sith Empire.

The Romulan Senate had little choice. The droid army had been the cornerstone of their military with so much of their economy tied up into the creation of their secret weapon, the Death Star, which was not yet operational. Most of the Sith had fallen to the Jedi, and the fleet was in shambles and still actively waging war on the Klingon front. Palpatine brought with him the still strong Clone Army and Starfleet. With the Klingons pushing further and further into Sith space, and with no other clear leader, the Senate made the unprecedented move to name Palpatine the Sith Emperor. The galaxy was shocked and in disbelief, but Palpatine immediately made good on his promise. The clone army moved to reinforce the Klingon front while also joining with Starfleet and the Sith fleet to reclaim the Republic.

The Republic was in shambles. Overnight, they went from seemingly on the cusp of peace to utter ruin. The Clones were ruthless in their aggression towards the Jedi. They had cleared the Jedi Temple and held the capitol. Starfleet was unsure of what to do and splintered, some continuing to follow the orders of Palpatine… now Sith Emperor Palpatine… some simply held position, while some took to fighting the Sith advance. While there was still time, the Republic Senators who had contested Palpatine met to enact their own contingency plan. They could see that the Republic was lost. Somehow, Palpatine had pulled the string of all of this. They knew that, but too many in the Republic actually saw him as a hero.

Archer, formerly a Captain in Starfleet, went to Starfleet Command to put out a call of his own. He had put out an order for all Starfleet vessels to return to Earth and await further orders. Archer was well respected in Starfleet, and many vessels did return. As Palpatine’s Sith Empire “reclaimed” Republic world after Republic world, Archer, Shran, and Mon Mothma, along with representatives of several other worlds, signed their own official secession from the Republic. The United Federation of Planets was created on Earth, bringing in several other worlds as members. The new UFP claimed Starfleet as its own, and much of the fleet recognized its authority.

Inevitably, Palpatine’s forces retook Coruscant and the Republic worlds that had not joined the Federation. Unfortunately, Chandrila was too close to the galactic core and was reconquered by Palpatine’s forces. Mon Mothma opted to stay behind and help her world and others now under the thumb of the Sith Empire. Padme Amidala had been killed on Khitomer. The early Federation shored up as much defense as it could and won an early diplomatic victory, striking peace with the Klingon Empire, who had seen them as simply an extension of the Republic.

Once Palpatine retook Coruscant, he called for a meeting with both whatever remained of the Republic Senate and the Romulan Senate. Addressing his now unified domain, he made a grand proclamation that the Republic and Sith Empire were no more, no longer needing to stand apart due to the treachery of the Jedi. The two would become one, a grand Galactic Empire. The Federation had sent an envoy to the historic meeting of the Republic and Romulan Senates and quickly petitioned the Emperor for peace with the Federation. The Galactic Empire, in a position of needing to still reclaim former Republic worlds along with still fighting the Klingon Empire, agreed one condition, that the Federation would not harbor Jedi. The UFP agreed, and the United Federation of Planets and Galactic Empire would know peace, for a time.

(Some of it is a bit contrived to force certain situations, and also leaves more for detail later. The implication is that Palpatine was already in charge of the Sith Empire, with Preator Dooku the public face of it. But he was pulling the strings the whole time and setting the stage for being able to leverage the Khan clone army to assume the throne of the Sith Empire. Would anyone in the galaxy actually buy that? Probably not, but that's also the reason why the Federation took off... people could see it was dumb. The Rebellion is there too... we just haven't gotten there yet.)

Next up I might do a character highlight. Picard or Data I think have the most interesting stories to write. Kirk/Luke can be fun too, but I think I need to work on that more to get it right.

Post-Galactic Empire, there is a version of the Sequel Trilogy fused with the Dominion War, featuring The Final Order (Borg Edition). I like my Final Order... it's not Palpatine building a bunch of Star Destroyers to blow up planets. He basically builds a fleet of Borg Cubes and intendeds to assimilate the galaxy. Sequel Trilogy Palpatine gets some shades of Borg Queen.

Fusing Archer and Bail Organa? Interesting choice. And Khan being the template for the GAR? Also Interesting. As a side note, even though Khan's storyline in this seems to more closely mirror Into Darkness, I am still picturing Ricardo Montalban.

Archer does get a few more Bail Organa parallels as we go along. He becomes instrumental in helping the Rebellion get up and running. The idea here is that the Federation is kind of Rebel Alliance-adjacent... they all knew they didn't want to live under Palpatine's Empire, but they took a two pronged approach to it. The Federation was (hopefully) going to be something of a save haven that could deal with the Empire on a closer-to-peer level with planets who could get out. The Rebel Alliance are a bit more hyperfocused on restoring the Republic, and working from the inside to make it happen. They keep it on the downlow, but the Federation assists with the Rebels as much as possible, kind of mirroring the Federation/Maquis type thing. The Federation took a big gamble on Starfleet siding with them... historically it was an Earth based organization that became a Republic organization, but they hoped that the tradition would be strong enough. A good chunk of Starfleet did end up in the Federation, although some stayed behind. We'll get into it, but Picard specifically remained and served the Galactic Empire... not because he's a bad guy, more because he felt a strong sense of duty to continue on and do what he could to maintain order. (There's a bit of a timeline issue with Picard... he ends up being... REALLY old, but... oh well it it was it was. Picard is probably in his 30's during the Clone Wars/change over to the Galactic Empire... and he still plays a pivotal role once the Sequel Trilogy comes to play some 60 years later. Although it does kind of track with the show anyway.)

I'll do a deeper dive on the Federation, but they DO actually take the "No Jedi" thing seriously, because it's the ONLY thing keeping Palpatine from sending the crushing weight of the Empire at them. As it stands, the Federation is useful to Palpatine for being fairly docile and out of the way. Section 31 will play a role in being essentially the Federation's version of Inquisitors... they take no joy in it, but S31 actively hunts Jedi who have taken to hiding in Federation space in order to defend the Federation. (Obi-Wan makes it through with Luke, hiding on Earth in Iowa...)

Heh, i'm also seeing Ricardo Montalban Khan Clones. I knew I wanted the GAR Clones to be Khan... it's what prompted to me go back and have another clone army out there, so that we can still have Jango Clones too. The Jango Clones are now just Klingon/Mandalorian hybrids, which in turn still makes them closely related to the GAR Clones, both being sourced from Earth Augments.

I'm going to do a bit of an offshoot here and rather than go with a big situation, i'll give some details on some characters and what influences may be there.

Anakin/Vader: There really isn't much if any blending here. Anakin is just Anakin.

James Kirk/Luke Skywalker: The long and short is that Padme is pregnant when she tries to go stop Anakin at Khitomer. Obi-Wan gets the twins out. Leia still goes to Alderaan (Bail Organa still exists as a character, he just kind of got split with Archer). Luke is taken to Earth by Obi-Wan, to a friend he had known from working with Starfleet. George and Winona Kirk take in the child as their own and raise him on their farm in Iowa. To protect him, they give the child a new name and don't tell him anything about his real father. Unlike OT Luke, Kirk/Luke has no idea growing up that George isn't his real father. Kirk goes to Starfleet Academy, does Star Treky things, and eventually ends up helping the rebels take down the Death Star (Kirk... somewhat inadvertently is probably closer to Kelvin Kirk... especially given the situation with the Death Star... it doesn't destroy Alderaan, Palpatine uses it to destroy Vulcan.) The rest is kind of TBD but after the "Generally ANH" situation, his story becomes very close to OT Luke's for at least a good while.

Han Solo: Han is also largely just Han Solo with a tiny bit of Harry Mudd working his way in. Han comes into the story to facilitate Kirk getting across the border into Imperial space to do Rebel Things and they form a deep friendship. In some ways, Han Solo takes some Spock role...

Spock: Given how this story kind of organically grew, unfortunately Spock does not have a particularly major role in this story. There are shades in Spock in a few characters, but the actual named Spock mostly exists around Khitomer. He does remerge in the Death Star storyline... i'm still working on the specifics of that but i'm seeing ANH fused with Star Trek '09 to an extent. Nero will be a Sith and ultimately Spock's end is chasing SithNero through some rip in space and that's that... that's as much as I have right now.

Leia: Is also pretty much straight up Leia. She's too integral to the Rebel storyline, and there's really not a good Trek parallel to fuse with. I can see some shades of Number One from SNW or alittle Kira Nerys, but mostly just Leia.

Hera Syndulla: Jumping to a different spot, Hera is a pretty good mix between Hera and Kira. Ryloth didn't join the Empire willingly, they also didn't join the Federation. They were among the first worlds the GE "reconquered". Cardassia, on the other hand, was among the first to accept GE rule, having never been particularly fond of the Republic anyway. The Cardassians wanted to prove their loyalty and assisted the early GE in occupying Ryloth, which did win them favor with Palpatine. Hera grew up on occupied Ryloth and eventually joined the Rebellion. In the end, the Twi'lek resistance won the day after Palpatine dies and the GE crumbles with the Cardassians being unable to maintain their occupation. The Republic starts to the rebuild, the Federation still exists, and its the UFP who moves in to offer help to the Twi'Leks. They begrudgingly accept, and post-Rebellion Hera takes up a posting on Deep Space Nine above Ryloth.

Picard: Jean-Luc "JL" Picard (JL pronounced "Gil") has one of the more involved stories, and is Picard, mixed with some Gilad Palleon, and oddly enough some Ahsoka elements. Picard is captain of the Chimaera at the time of the Clone Wars. His time in the clone wars is somewhat defined by his close working relationship with the Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, whom he developed a friendship with through serving together. Skywalker often utilized Chimaera as something of a base of operations and the two grew to know each other well. Post-Khitomer and ensuing chaos, Picard decided to hold position and not heed to call for Starfleet to gather at Earth. When Palpatine announced the formation of the Galactic Empire, Picard was conflicted and knew this would not be a good thing for the galaxy, but he ultimately remained loyal to what he saw as the still legitimate government and felt he had a duty to help protect the worlds of the former Republic.

Under the Galactic Empire, Picard continued to serve admirably but often came under fire from command due to his occasionally insubordination and refusal to carry out orders he deemed morally questionable or flat out wrong. Some in the fleet wondered how Picard avoided the wrath of the Emperors enforcer, Darth Vader. The truth was that Jean-Luc Picard knew Darth Vader's secret. He had served with Anakin Skywalker for too long and saw through the machine. Picard would, in fact, fairly often draw the ire of Vader but would not back down from his position and quietly informed the dark lord of his knowledge. Vader tended to have a lighter hand with Picard, partly due to the desire to protect his secret, and partly due to the respect that carried over from his old life.

    The First Order

Picard once again made a conflicted decision when Palpatine had fallen and the Empire began to crumble. While all of his convictions told him to join with the rebels at that point, Picard saw first hand the chaos unfolding on worlds still held by some remnant of the Empire. He could not in good conscious leave them to fend for themselves in that state. Picard did well to avoid active conflict with Rebel/New Republic forces in the interim, and even when the Imperial remnant made its final stand at Nimbus III, the Chimaera held back and did not engage. Rather, Picard assisted with an evacuation effort of Imperial citizens displaced from their homes. There was nowhere to go, and even if the New Republic would take them, the time to defect had long since passed and the conditions in which they would be treated was an unknown. Picard helped to marshal the remaining Imperial forces along with Grand Admiral Thrawn, Admiral Leyton, General Hux and Captain Jellico. The five respected Starfleet officers, considered to be among the "first order" of the Imperial Starfleet, ushered the refugees and what Imperial forces remained into the Unknown Regions, Thrawn hoping that they could come into contact with the Chiss Dominion for help.

The Unknown Regions were particularly difficult to navigate, and they would not immediately come across the Chiss. However they did find several suitable worlds to settle. The five officially established their regime as "The First Order", which Thrawn formally taking command. Picard was promoted to Admiral and was named in second in command of the First Order, to the outrage of Leyton and Hux. Leyton, Hux and Jellico would remain a thorn in Thrawn and Picard's side for some time, often plotting against them from their seats on the Council.

Some time after consolidating their forces, the First Order had explored enough the Unknown Regions to come into contact with the Chiss. Thrawn had left long ago, and the nature of the Unknown Regions rendered his old navigation data useless, but not his knowledge of the Dominion. Thrawn was confident that the First Order forces were superior to those of the Chiss and despite Picard's insistence they meet them with diplomacy, Thrawn launched an attack. He was vindicated with a short war, fairly easily winning the and toppling the Chiss government. Thrawn claimed Chiss territory for the First Order, and now armed with a larger population and territory, the First Order could transform from a military regime into a full fledged Empire.

Much to Thrawn's dismay, shortly after integrating the Chiss into the First Order, a new force emerged from deeper in the Unknown Regions. Snoke, an apparent representative of the ancient Founders of the Chiss Dominion, arrived with the Knights of Ren. The Chiss population viewed the coming as Snoke as the return of their literal gods, complete with their vanguard in the Knights of Ren, or in the Chiss language "Jem' Hadar". Snoke did not the military might to make war with the First Order, instead extending a hand of peace. Thrawn knew all to well the stories of the Founders, having always thought them to be myth. Even he was taken aback, but there was no actual proof that this Snoke was actually a Founder. The Founders were supposed to be shapeshifting beings, something that Snoke had not demonstrated. Nevertheless, the massive Chiss population bought into Snoke and recognized him as a Founder.

Thrawn welcomed Snoke to meet with the Council and wasted no time in challenging his intentions. Snoke took the opportunity to also not beat around the bush, telling Thrawn in no uncertain terms than the Founders had sent him to reclaim their Dominion. Thrawn expelled Snoke, and immediately word made its way to the populace. Massive unrest broke out among the Chiss. While they had accepted the rule of Thrawn as a conqueror but one of their own, they would choose a god over just another man. The unrest quickly escalated into an outright uprising, overwhelming the First Order forces. Leyton, Hux, and Jellico saw the time to strike. Collectively, they called for Thrawn and Picard to step down, as they had lost control and pledged their support to the Chiss people and Snoke. A brief civil war broke out as sides were chosen, but the Chiss were too massive in number. Admiral Leyton fell during the fighting, but ultimately Thrawn and Picard were forced to flee. General Hux, being the next in line for command, welcomed Snoke to take the place of Supreme Leader.

Now Supreme Leader Snoke recognized the loyalty of Hux by making him the right hand to the Supreme Leader and General of the First Order forces. Snoke saw the value in the First Order's organization and decided to leave it in place. The Founders could benefit from the reorganization of their Dominion. One of Snoke's first actions was to have Jem' Hadar creation facilities constructed to augment the First Order Stormtrooper corps and infusing the rest of the First Order with advanced technologies courtesy of the Founders, enhancing their capabilities even further. Snoke's intentions were not entirely clear, but Hux was adamant that once the First Order gained enough strength, they would strike and reclaim the old territory of the Galactic Empire.

(It remains unclear if Snoke is ACTUALLY a Founder or just using the myth to gain power. Hux is also not actually loyal to him, he just wanted Thrawn and Picard out of the picture and would figure out the rest later. Kylo Ren shows up later in some form. Thrawn and Picard will return...)

Jumping all over the timeline here... I give you at least partially the story of Data (Codenamed "RE-Y")... (We have an odd pastiche of characters here. Quite obviously there's Data and Rey fused possibly almost 50/50, but there is a shadow of Michael Burnham in there... kind of a holdover from an older version of this where I attempted to fuse Rey and Burnham, but Data wormed his way in and changed the whole thing, for the better.)

Timeline note: Data's story begins 20ish years after the fall (or more accurately, recession) of the Galactic Empire. To set the stage of the galaxy, the New Republic has been established but is in a weakened state, still trying to rebuild. The Federation continued to exist, ultimately deciding to remain and independent entity even after the New Republic formed, albeit the two having close ties. The Klingon Empire has officially absorbed the Mandalorians and the two stand as one.

The Galactic Empire fell and receded back even beyond the (former) Neutral Zone. After the death of Palpatine and the defeat of the Inquisitors (who are probably closer to Legends than Canon, being a more organized remnant Sith under the GE), Shinzon took control over the the (non-First Order) Imperial Remnant, distancing itself from the Galactic Empire and officially reorganizing into the Romulan Empire. Under Shinzon, the Romulans became nationalistic and expelled all non-Romulans from the Empire (in a sort of/kind of parallel to the destruction of Romulus and the resulting refugee crisis.) The First Order is still in the Unknown Regions, although the Rylothian Wormhole has been discovered by this point, offering much easier access to and from them... (the Unknown Regions essentially being the Gamma Quadrant, just mired in being difficult/sometimes impossible to navigate.) The First Order itself being a hybrid of the FO and Dominion. There won't really be Vorta, but i've established Jem' Hadar. Weyoun will exist, but he's just a Chiss.

"Rey" awoke in the desert sands of the planet Nimbus III, with no memory of who or what he was or how he had gotten there, with only the tattered jumpsuit he was wearing, emblazed with the letters "RE:Y" to give any clue at all. After some time wandering the desert wastes aimlessly, Rey as he took to calling himself for lack of a better name, found the settlement of Paradise City. Interacting with other beings made him realize he was different, he didn't require food, water or sleep as the other people he met did. Rey knew he was different, but was not aware how. To pass the time, Rey took to scavenging parts from the vast wreckage fields dotting Nimbus III, restoring them, and using them to help the people living in the terrible conditions the planet offered.

On one fateful day, Data had returned to Paradise City from the wastes with a new haul of scrap when he encountered a Starfleet crew. The Starfleet officers immediately became interested in Rey, quickly realizing they had found a unique being. The crew offered to take him with them, away from Nimbus so they could learn more about him. With nothing actually tethering him to the planet, he happily agreed. He was brought to Earth, where scientists found him to be interesting. He was an artificial life form, but they wouldn't classify him as a "droid". He was like no droid they had ever seen before, to the point of deeming him a person. Rey was free to live as he wished, and after his experience with Starfleet, he decided he wanted to join.

Rey entered Starfleet Academy where he excelled, earning a nickname from his classmates, "Data", due to his incredibly complex positronic computer brain. The name was agreeable to the android, who adopted it as his true name, "Rey" having never actually meant anything to him. It was used merely for lack of anything else. Data graduated from the Academy with honors as was assigned to USS Shenzhou.

After serving for a few years on the Shenzhou, the ship was on assignment near Ryloth. Running routine scans, Data discovered strange and concerning activity through the wormhole. He reported his findings to the Captain, who ultimately rejected Data's findings. However, Data knew that there was something going on beyond the wormhole in the Unknown Regions, specifically a massive reading of a fleet with Imperial signatures. He attempted to press the issue, but none of the other science officers on the ship were able to confirm his findings and he was told to stop pursuing the matter.

As Data was returning to his quarters, he had a curious encounter. A security officer had pulled him aside, urgently needing to speak with him. Data was vaguely aware of this officer, he had seen him before on the ship but had no established relationship. The security officer told Data that he was correct about the data he found from the wormhole and that there was something going on. Data was intrigued, but confused, as to how a security officer would know this. The officer explained that he was actually from another universe, a recent transporter accident had seemingly him with his counterpart from the current universe. He further explained that in his universe, a terrible war had already occurred when a newly invigorated version of the Galactic Empire emerged from the wormhole and reconquered the galaxy. He had been conscripted into their military, given the designation "FN-2187" and forced to fight for them. He did find a moment of levity when he found out his doppelgangers true name was "Finn". Finn told Data that the last hope of his universe was a Resistance, one he thought may also exist in this universe.

Finn convinced Data that they needed to contact the Resistance and left Shenzhou, bound for Nar Shadaa to meet with supposed Resistance contacts Poe Dameron and Chakotay. While they did make it to Nar Shadaa, their meeting was ambushed, Data being disabled and taken away. Data awoke to find himself elsewhere, restrained. Much to his surprise, his captor appeared to be... himself? The mystery would be short lived as his captor was anxious to tell the tale, introducing himself as his "brother" Lore.

Lore wanted Data to know his history. He was created by Noonien Soong, son of Arik Soong, on behalf of... Emperor Palpatine. Lore explained that somehow, Palpatine survived, his essence being cared for by a sith cult on the planet Exegol. Palpatine needed a physical body to fully return, however the sheer power of his essence was so destructive, a suitable form had proven difficult. Clones were attempted, but the dark side power would eat through them too quickly. They had experimented on transferring his essence to shapeshifting aliens, enslaving them to become vessels for him, but they also proved inadequate, retaining their individuality despite Palpatine's efforts to dominate them. Soong suggested a droid body, but it the idea was initially rejected. The force needed a living being, his essence would not able to inhabit a machine. Still, Soong thought the idea had merit and began work. Eventually, he had created a body he thought could work, codenamed "Resurrection Evaluation: Yirt". The "droid" was presented to Palpatine, who was impressed by the construction. While artificial, the being seemed to be "alive". The essence was transferred and amazingly, it worked. Palpatine inhabited the artifical body, his essence stable, the body able to withstand the power of the dark side. However, the success was short lived. The body was "alive", Palpatine could feel the force within it, but... the physical from lacked the ability for emotion. The body was useless to Palpatine, trapped inside an emotionless shell. The dark side required emotions to thrive, in this body he lacked his power.

The cult was able to extract Palpatine's essence, and ordered RE:Y to be destroyed and Soong executed. Before the order could be carried out, Soong had RE:Y smuggled off Exegol in a trash transport, having come to see his creation of something as a son. Replacing Soong, Bruce Maddox suggested to Palpatine that he could improve upon the design and make it work. Maddox set about to replicate Soong's work, creating a superior version of the artificial being, capable of experiencing emotions. Maddox presented the new form to Palpatine, who once again attempt to inhabit the body but he could not. The being was seemingly "alive". It could experience emotions. But... this being had no connection to the Force. Maddox had thought he replicated everything perfectly, but it turned out that there was no explanation as to how RE:Y was created with a connection to the Force.

Maddox was also executed, and Palpatine was enraged. Rather than discard the new being, Palpatine kept him to torture and do his bidding. It could still be useful as a solider and assassin. Discovering that Soong had betrayed his orders and RE:Y had survived, Palpatine ordered the new android... who he had taken to calling "Lore", to retrieve his "brother" and return him to transfer RE:Y's brain into Lore's shell, hopefully producing the perfect vessel.

Lore set out on his mission and captured RE:Y... Data... but had no intention of fulfilling the objective. Lore wanted to live, he had no loyalty to Palpatine. But he did get an idea... he did want Data's force connection. Having done research, Lore came into possession of an ancient Jedi device, the Stone of Gol, thought to be able to strip the connection of the Force away from someone. Legend was that the Stone of Gol was used seldomly, as an extreme punishment on ancient Vulcan. With Data restrained, Lore activated the Stone of Gol. It seemed to work... Lore could actually feel the Force flowing through him. However, Lore did not expect the side effect... the Stone of Gol established a two-way connection, a "mind meld". While Lore began to feel Data's force connection, Data gained Lore's emotions. Fueled by anger, Data was able to tap into his force sensitivity for the first time, lashing out at Lore in a hail of force lightning. The Stone of Gol exploded, the transference incomplete. However, Data did retain enough of Lore's emotions to continue to tap into the Force.

Data was engulfed in rage, about ready to kill his "brother". But he did not. Data felt other emotions, positive emotions. He had always thought he was the only of his kind. And after the story Lore told him, he also felt sympathy for his brother. Pity. Data spared Lore's life, hoping that his brother would... turn to the light side.

Data set off once again, now equipped with the Force, to find the Resistance and warn the galaxy about the true threat the First Order posed...

    Hmmm..... Fascinating.
I become more and more interested to see where this goes and watch you weave these worlds together.

Doing something a bit different here. Actively trying to work out a piece here and going more in an outline format than narrative. Any feedback is appreciated... i'm better at grand scale than smaller narrative.

Trying to do the story of James Kirk/Luke Skywalker.

    - George Kirk won’t let Jim join Starfleet Academy. Jim runs away, goes anyway. Stranger follows him, recognizes him as Ben Kenobi, who he knew as a sort of hermit who lived near the family farm. James Kirk confronts Kenobi for following him.

    - Kenobi tells Jim that he knew someday this would happen, that he would not be able to stay on the farm forever. Kenobi reveals he is Vulcan, a Jedi named Spock, his other name simply being a cover. Spock informs Jim that he knew his father, and that a great destiny awaited him. He urged caution, but ultimately would not interfere with his journey.

    - Kirk goes to Starfleet Academy, does Kirk things.

    - Serves in Starfleet, around age 25 becomes Captain of Enterprise. (My general backstory idea is that the UFP is a small fish compared to the Galactic Empire, and they are desperate for crew... Kirk is basically genius-level and competent so he gets incredibly fast tracked into command.)

    - Serves as Captain for a few years, going on exploratory missions.

    - Eventually, answers a distress call from originating from Tatooine, on the Imperial border.

    - Call came from former lover Carol Marcus, who Kirk discovers has been working with the rebellion against the Empire from Federation space. Rebels had stolen classified Imperial plans for a super weapon, the Genesis Beam, delivering to the Federation to analyze and find a defense against it.

    - Enterprise is ambushed by Khan, who had learned of the rebels obtaining the information and attacked Marcus to steal it. Khan planned on using the weapon against the Empire in revenge for turning his clones, his children, against them and using them as pawns.

    - Kirk couldn’t let Khan have the weapon, fight ensues. Enterprise is victorious, Kirk recovers Genesis Beam information, stored in R2-D2.

    - R2 plays message for Kirk from Leia, desperately trying to reach Spock to help her.

    - Star Destroyer crosses border, arrives at Tatooine with Darth Vader. Vader demands the information be returned. Kirk decides weapon is too dangerous, refuses. Leaves Enterprise to hide away on Tatooine with R2, C3P0, makes it clear it was he who took the information, not his crew.

    - Kirk contacts Spock, who is able to quietly arrive on Tatooine.

    - Spock asks for Kirk’s help in getting the Genesis Beam research back to the rebels. He had been in contact with Marcus and reveals he had been supporting the rebels for some time. Marcus found a way to stop the weapon utilizing red matter.

    - Kirk, Spock and the droids meet Han Solo who has a ship that frequently makes smuggling runs across the border, agrees to transport them. Spock tells Kirk more about his past, that his father was a Jedi, and that he was born with the name “Luke Skywalker”. Kirk is skeptical and doubtful.

    - On their way to Alderaan, ship is captured by Death Star. They rescue Leia, try to escape. Pursued by both Vader and his assassin Nero.

    - Kirk, Han, Leia and Co. escape to the rebel base on Yavin, rebels review the research. The problem is that they have no access to red matter. Plan seems hopeless, but Kirk comes up with a plan, hoping his gamble would work. Enterprise had a supply of red matter on board when he left, it was likely still on board.

    - Kirk and Han go to Earth on the Falcon, Spock and Leia stay at the rebel base, with Han successfully smuggling them once again.

    - Kirk takes the warning to Starfleet Command, but they tell him they can’t get involved and they must respect the treaty with the Empire. Kirk can’t take no for an answer, Kirk decides to take matters into his own hands.

    - Kirk banks on his crew following him. Manages to speak to some of them, convinces them of Genesis threat, Kirk’s crew steals the Enterprise and secure red matter. Enterprise is able to outrun most ships, while Millenium Falcon acts as a distraction. Hides in a nebula near Yavin. Starfleet won’t purse into Imperial territory.

    - Rebels discover first intended target of Death Star is Vulcan, the ancient Jedi homeworld, and scramble to mount attack.

    - Kirk will bring Enterprise into battle while rebels make attack run on the station, Spock pilots craft with red matter to nullify Genesis Beam. During attack, Death Star fires. Spock is in position to intercept the Genesis Beam when Nero’s TIE fighter scores a hit, knocking him off trajectory.

    - It’s just enough time for Genesis to destroy Vulcan. However the Genesis Beam had an unintended side effect and tore a hole in subspace and began to expand. Spock deploys the red matter, hoping to avert further disaster.

    - Spock’s ship, along with Nero, were sucked into the tear.

    - Meanwhile, the rebel ships were in rough shape and the battle was going poorly. Kirk heard the ghostly voice of Spock in his head, “Remember.” Kirk knew that Spock was trying to tell him to use the force.

    - Moving to the tactical station, Kirk assumed manual control. Closing his eyes, he reached out with the Force and guided a single photon torpedo into an exhaust port, destroying the Death Star. Although the ancient Jedi homeworld had been destroyed, the Imperial weapon was destroyed and the rebels had the information, considering it a massive blow to the Empire.

    - Kirk knew he could not return to Earth after his actions, suggested to his crew that they might be given leniency. The crew reject and stayed along with Kirk, the Enterprise and its crew now a part of the Rebel Alliance, taking a moment to celebrate their pyrrhic victory before assisting with the evacuation of the rebel base, as the Empire surely knew where it was now.

(I took the basic structure of A New Hope, and merged in some aspects of Star Trek '09 and ST2: The Wrath of Khan and ST3: The Search For Spock.)

I'm starting to brainstorm for what is essentially Empire Strikes Back. So far, what I have is almost literally just ESB with some characters / places shifted around. Trying to fuse some kind of Star Trek story into it, i'm thinking perhaps like another part of ST3 with Kruge coming to be a thorn in the side of the rebels, trying to get the Genesis Beam information. Thinking Kruge and the Klingons could go somewhat hand in hand with the bounty hunters... just not 100% how that works out. I know at some point, while Kirk is fighting Vader, Scotty has the Enterprise and there's a battle over Bespin (which I think is going to be Stratos from "The Cloud Minders") where Picard shows up.

I also really want to work Harry Mudd into the Bespin/Stratos situation without getting rid of Lando. I'm thinking both Mudd and Lando are important figures on Stratos, Han still has much the same backstory with Lando, while Mudd is generally just the POS he always is. When the heroes get sold out to Vader, its made to seem that Lando betrayed Han due to their history... but it was Mudd the whole time.

This was meant to be a braindstorm session right now, I think I like the idea of working in Kruge from ST3, coming in to try to get Genesis as well. Not 100% sure how that works into the a generally ESB framework. I think Mudd takes the Boba Fett role (Fett has his own story), kind of splitting ESB Lando and Boba Fett's roles with Lando getting to be a bit less of a scoundrel and more just generally good guy all around. It's Mudd who takes Han in carbonite to Jabba.

The Kirk/Luke vs. Vader battle happens much as in ESB, Vader drops the "I am your father" line on Kirk. I'm can't help but picture Shatner delivering Lukes lines. Actually something of a catalyst for this whole operation. That image popped in my head, "He... toldme you... killed... him.", "No! That's... that's... imposs..ible!" he falls down the shaft thing, but instead just ends up in a free fall and the Enterprise swoops in to beam him back and run away from the Empire.

(Actually, on that... maybe Kruge isn't in the ESB situation, he's a threat in between ESB and ROTJ, maybe play around with a version of Shadows of the Empire with the Klingons being something of a stand in for Black Sun.)

The ROTJ-type story is still but an apple in my eye. I have a few beats, but nothing rock solid.

And then timeline-wise, from the fall of the Empire/Palpatine to however the more Sequel Trilogy/Data's story plays out, is closer to 20 years. Still leaves room for things to happen in the galaxy, UFP can mature a bit, Kirk can still be around and Picard, while old, can still be doing stuff.

Off the specific Kirk/Original Trilogy topic, I have Borg ideas (already partly introduced here), a small role for the Kazon, with BOTH of them with shades of the Vong, but to be honest i've never been a huge Vong fan so it's mostly aesthetic. The long and short is that the Borg are Sith creations, and somehow even more terrifying here. They have a Vong-inspired appearance, the drones are supposed to look grotesque and intimidating, because they're actively being tortured by the Sith.

The Kazon, or "Kaazon-Vong" because, it sounds cool, are really something I cooked up that has little to do with either of them. There's a Voyager story where the ship gets ripped across the galaxy by Mortis, who is trying to find someone to take his place. Voyager turns out to not be what Mortis was looking for, although in some justice for Harry Kim, he discovers he is force sensitive. Where the Kaazon-Vong come in... they were a slave race under the servitude of the Son, and were basically just twisted, dark side demons. Through the Voyager/Mortis story, the Son is killed resulting in his leash on the Kaazon-Vong to be removed, and they start to lash out in rage.
