    Okay, it's not exactly a fan film, but I recently finished work on a little video that I wanted to show you guys: Star Wars Suite. Think of it as the ultimate montage; it's something I'd been wanting to do for a long time, but I had to wait until I had access to footage from all six movies. I'm hoping it can worm its way into TFN's Fan Films section or some such eventually, but for now, here it is. Comments are very welcome.

    If she's got real movie footage in it, TFN doesn't host it, I'm afraid.

    *downloads anyway*

    You my friend have a great way of expressing your love of the Star Wars saga... it was worth the download

    The only thing I did not care that much for was the first music transition... but wow it was a fun watch.

    -Eamon

    Edit The music timing gets two thumbs up!

    Nicely done! I love it... definitely is cool and blends fairly well, although it might have also been cool to see something with more "structure", such as...

    * All saber combat clips (from all 6 movies) blended together, all together -- maybe even using only one combat theme song
    * All space ship battle clips together
    * All greenery / forestry clips together
    * All "inside-a-spaceship" clips together
    * Etc. etc.

    This doesn't mean I didn't really appreciate the montage, I thought it worked well. The only execption was the sort of "stretched thin" tempo on the first transition of the music. The theme's tempo was slowed quite badly. Same thing happens on a later piece of music, but it's a little less egregious...

    Thanks for the kind words, guys. Yeah, I know movie footage is on iffy legal grounds, but they've hosted things like the AotC fan trailers and such in the past, so it might be doable. If not, I'll just have to find another site for it.

    I agree that the DotF transition is one of the more glaring ones, but I'm not sure what you mean, Greytale, about the tempo problem. Are you talking about the pace, or the actual speed of the music? It seems like you're suggesting that the music was manually slowed down or something. What's the other transition you were thinking of, out of curiosity?

    Oh, and as far as grouping similar scenes together - it's something I gave a lot of thought to, but I wouldn't have been able to fit nearly as much in that way, and it was absolutely brutal to leave out as much awesome footage as I did - the Coruscant and Endor battle sections are only about 15 seconds each! Anyway, the piece is meant to honor the music more than anything else, and I wanted to get as many different songs in as possible.

    Cooper,

    I'll try to explain this in words. It's easier when listening to the music (obviously). The very beginning of the "credits begin to roll" music just after you clip away from Beru & Owen in the sunset w/ baby Luke... is slowed a bit. The tempo picks up shortly after, during a music transition.

    The other "slowing" is the ceremonial music from EPIV, in the footage of Luke, Han, Leia, Chewie, etc. during their ceremonies/awards on Yavin IV.

    Also--I respect that you're honoring Williams' music... that is one of the reasons I chose to put together my short trilogy, and it's the most key component in my first episode.

    Finally... SOMEone would be able to do what I was thinking regarding matching sequences (all combat, all spaceship, all forest, etc.). I don't have the time or interest at present, but hmmm--I'd love to do something like that in the future...

    Thanks again Cooper--it's still a nice compilation...

    Okay, I figured out what the issue is. I dropped you a PM, but long story short, you must be used to hearing older recordings of certain songs than the versions I used - remember that each movie uses new performances, even for the main themes. When you mentioned the medal ceremony section, that confirmed it, because I specifically transitioned from the original, faster, brassier version to a brand-new one from the RotS credits.

    That was very cool. The transitions were all very good. And I love hearing an older score by Williams played to clips from the prequels. It just makes it all flow better. Excellent work.

    Hey, you're right... sorry! Glad it wasn't on your end... sorry for the confusion. It sounds weird to me, but maybe everyone else is used to the tempo decrease. I would never have noticed this tempo thing unless I saw your SW suite though... interesting.

    Back to work, but I thought you did a good job the clips flowed really good and it took a time or two for the music trans but once I watched it all I thought they didn't hurt it, just the first one shocked me.
    Nice and very good caps to

    Again, thrilled to know you guys are digging it. I thought I'd put up the original music as well, in case anyone wanted it. It's been a fixture on my iPod for months now. :)

    That was a really good video... =D=

    Things like that are which make me feel all the six StarWars movies like a whole unit. Those videos make you remember how much you liked the scenes and the music when you saw and listened to them...

    Thanks for making it. That's all what I have to say...

    =D=

    EDIT: of course I will download it... ;)

    I'd like to, but I haven't found a good quicktime compression that doesn't turn it to fudge.

    That was intense. You selected a lot of good action shots. I liked how you alternated the between the originals and prequels because it really made all six movies feel like one coherent piece rather than seperate entities.

    I also liked being able to see a scene to different music and getting a different feel than the way it is in the movie. I got really excited during the lightsaber duels, and I cheered during the Imperial March and related scenes (I'm a big fan of the average Imperials like Piett and Veers).

    My mind tried to find a pattern in the order that you put them in, but was unsuccessful. That just means my subconscious was slightly disgruntledy, but beyond that I really derived great pleasure from it.

    Thanx for sharing it with us. I'll see you around. :)
