I didn't see a thread for this book, so here we go! Everyone’s favorite tale of good versus evil takes on a whole new look in this graphic novel! Join Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Princess Leia, Darth Vader, and the rest of the heroes and villains from a galaxy far, far away in this graphic novel collection that retells the original three Star Wars films: A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. You’ll experience the saga in a way you never have before! I've seen some of the interior art and it is really top notch. I've ordered a copy that is arriving in two days, so I wanted to get a thread up for anyone that already has a copy. --Adm. Nick
It's cute. Has a nice mix of cartoony and concept art for the character and space scenes respectively. Wouldn't mind some wallpaper art of the space stuff Missa ab iPhona mea est.
I keep seeing people saying that this is a compilation of a Brazilian comic. Can anyone verify that, or is this a brand new thing?
No, I've seen photos of it on Twitter. But the space art looks a lot like the CG concept art painting we see in Rebels BTS. Missa ab iPhona mea est.
Yes, this is the Brazilian and Dutch comic now translated and in a graphic novel. Although interestingly the UK has each movie in a Comic available at whsmiths
Whoa, didn't know about this. What is this, like the third or forth comic adaptation of the OT? I own two of them already.
The Dutch editions are published by Dark Dragon Books (see here for the ANH one). They were translated in that language by SW.com's Belgian contributor Tim Veekhoven.
Just got my copy. Art is solid, shots of the various space battles are kinda abridged but really lovely. Shots of the Rebel Fleet are great, plus I dig the over style for the characters. --Adm. Nick
Random question, but: Can Cracken, Blount, or anyone else be seen in the Falcon's cockpit during the Battle of Endor? I've always been a big fan of those two, and of the tragically nameless "Pressure steady!" navigator.
There is one or two panels with two Rebels in the cockpit with Lando and Nien Nuub, but they look like generic Endor commandos, not Airen Cracken, Blount, or any other Rebel officers. The book condenses some stuff, so we don't always get the full scene. Hell, Wedge appears (as a character, wrong helmet) in one panel for ANH, then we only see his X-wing and here his voice in ROTJ. The art is great though, I'm really enjoying it. One shot of the Rebel Fleet is rather lovely, with seven Home One-type MC80 cruisers and some assorted support ships. We also see a wingless MC80, but no Liberty-types. The shot of the Medical Frigate at the end of TESB is lovely too. --Adm. Nick
Hey, I'll take generic Endor commandos any day --- this is actually the first ROTJ comic adaptation (save for the PhotoComic) to show anyone other than Lando and Nien in the cockpit at all.
Hey, nice. Thanks. Since three people are in the background at that point in the film, there'd be no way of saying who those two are supposed to be, but luckily I was asking out of curiosity and not for the sake of Wook-completeness. I'm still just riding high that the new canon put Blount into one of the gunner's chairs.
