Luke Skywalker Is Your Guide in New Book The Secrets of the Jedi – Exclusive Get a first look at an interactive reading experience strong with the Force. Prepare, Padawan, to learn from a legend. StarWars.com is excited to reveal Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi, a new book from author Marc Sumerak chronicling the history of the Jedi Order, with Luke Skywalker as your guide. Coming November 19 from Insight Editions, the tome is filled with lush paintings and special interactive features, including a pop-up holocron, a translator card, a Jedi equipment booklet, and more. You can get a first look below, exclusively on StarWars.com. “It’s always a great pleasure to get to return to a galaxy far, far away for another project, but having the chance to explore the path of the fabled Jedi Order through Luke’s eyes was an honor like none I’ve ever had before,” Sumerak tells StarWars.com. “The Skywalker saga has always been such a crucial piece of my own personal pop culture landscape over the years, so being able to write this book in the words of Luke himself was a dream come true.” The Secrets of the Jedi promises to be expansive, incorporating lore from Star Wars: The Clone Wars, the Star Wars films, and beyond. To see Luke Skywalker address the Force Priestesses (from The Clone Wars) and other iconic Jedi like Qui-Gon Jinn is especially surprising, and sure to intrigue fans new and old. “One of the greatest challenges with a book like this is to find a way to bring all of the vital information together in a way that feels fresh and new,” Sumerak says. “For this particular project, I think that unique perspective flows naturally from our beloved narrator, Luke Skywalker. Sure, we all know his epic story by heart, but the Luke who is writing this particular tome is a long way from the optimistic farmboy he was when his journey began. Because of that, he’s able to look past the glorified stories of the Jedi of old to find the truth about the Order, no matter how difficult it may be for those reading to hear. So with that in mind, we were able to examine the different aspects of the Jedi Order from an angle that cut through the ancient legends, allowing us to examine why the Jedi needed to exist, why they were destined to end, and whether or not they could — or should — rise again.” Star Wars: The Secrets of the Jedi arrives November 19 and is available for pre-order now.
I love this can't wait. I also love that it's Luke and in way canon of how he learns all of this. And get a little chill with him learning of Qui gon and Ashoka Who are both important in the Skywalker family.
The link says that the length of the book is 32 pages. The preview images shown? You've just seen a quarter of the book. No thanks. Art is pretty good though.
Aurebesh translations: Old Republic page: "Wars not make one great." - Yoda Light Force Abilities: "A Jedi uses the force for knowledge and defense. Never for attack." - Yoda Jedi Masters & Knights: "You don't have to carry a sword to be powerful. Some leaders' strength is inspiring greatness in others." -Ahsoka Tano The Last Jedi: "Something inside me has always been there. But now it's awake." - Rey
Also We Got Luke and Anakin continnued father-son relation ship as he both along with OBi wan and Yoda helped him along the way.
I think the most noteworthy section for me is the force spirits part. Did Anakin actually get taught how to transcend death or is Luke just assuming that because he saw his spirit? Interesting either way.
Good to see some of the Old Republic stuff get re-comfirmed. Also once again, Snoke is NOT a Sith. Spoiler NuCanon been pushing this a lot, so it will be weird if they did a 180 and say "Nope he was Palpatine"
Cool to see Luke talking about his father. The ST has been shy about Luke's feelings on Anakin years after his death, so it is nice to see that. It also confirms that Luke is on good terms with Anakin given he was happy to feel his prescence.
I think he was on good terms with his father and his masters. But after the jedi temple, he might have been angry at them and just shut them off when shutting off the force.
I havent seen any gossip about his but, Yaddle is in this and we might more canon info on her in this. I know in the old Eu she was killed but in canon i think she left the council and thats why you never see her again. So we could something intresting. In her art we see tentacles and what seems be off the death star and Maul on top.
I get that they are the ones we know, but are the Jedi from the prequels the Greatest ones?.... shouldn't they be remembered as the ones who ruined the legacy of all the folks who had sculpted busts in the library? I want to read about the heroic feats of those hall of famers, I already know about the clone wars ones :/
Nah, they aren't any worse or better than the Jedi that came before them that failed to eliminate the threat of the Sith.
I wonder if they will only use canon jedi and expand on this or will they canonise a legends character here, like they did dash rendar. Maybe Revan cane be here, he's maybe a jedi that holds secrets of the order possibly. I know he will soon be canon and this book is great way to do it. He's the only other popular character then Thrawn. Maybe update his armor. Also hope we get a section of Tarre Vizsla, the Mandalorian jedi who later became the Mandalore of his people. A jedi with unusual weapon shaped like a katana sword. and at a time when jedi wore armor or he was only the armored jedi to honor his legacy. Hope we might get something new exiting material here and not only a expand a little.
You're expecting a lot for what appears to be a 32 page children's book with two or 3 paragraphs per page. If they were to have new info on Tarre Vizsla or recanonize Revan, that's the type of thing that would need a lot of page space and would happen in a real book.
