StarCon UK - 23/24th Sept @ Kempton Park

We?ve been alerted to a Sci-fi convention taking place at Kempton Park Race Course (near the M3/M25, South-West of London) during the weekend of the 23rd - 24th September 2006.

So far they already have a good list of Star Wars guests (inc. three first timers), and many others guests from film & TV plus a few more in the pipe-line.
At the moment we could even have a table for the show so for now, who?s interested in going??

If I do this event, I have every weekend in September booked up for FF-UK events lol! Collectormania 10 is the weekend after, but I am there on the Sat only, and the weekend before is TENCLO/Jedi_Nat in York. As far as I am concerned, I could get up there Friday night, and go home Sunday. I'll check details of travel, but I am up for it - cost/travel/etc dependant.

I've been speaking to the show's organiser and we've managed to secure a table. He'd like to know what costumes we'll be bringing along. Can we rely on you Matt & Koren with your Trooper's and Vader? And Tim, do you think you'll have your Ewok cossie ready in time?

Anyone else fancy going with a costume?

Ive checked my work schedule and Im free for this one. Its also about 10 minutes from my house so we will be there.

As far as I'm aware things are still on for this. I'll contact the shows organisers next week to confirm the final details for setting up etc.

Depends a lot on how much C10 is going to cost me, and whether work will allow me 2 weekends off in a row.

we will be going up saturday and will pretty much be there all day from the early opening onwards

 

Bummer, i wont be able to make this one, i will be in Amsterdam.
but i will be there in spirit May the force be with all in attendance, and with all those that have to work.

 

Don't think I can do this one, sorry. Have to sacrifice it so I have more chance of attending C10.

 

i went there today it was good they hada load of star wars stuff to sell and other stuff aswell plus i saw a couple of the stormtroopers there and i think i saw femi taylor there to.

 

so,how was it?

 

it was kool they had loads of things there star wars toys ect ,a private party around the back, dr who stuff and a couple of daleks the starsky and hutch car and there was people there taking autographs (most of them i've never heard of) and you could have your photo taken with stormtroopers or jango fett (i watched the guy in the fett suit while having a drink, it's funny what they do when they think noone is watching them)

 

The show was a bit of a mix bag really. It had some very good guests, was well organized and a very nice venue, but sadly hardly anyone turned up. Saturday was very quiet, today was busier and a good atmosphere was generated but still lacking in punters. Not sure if it was down to poor timing (C10 next week and a time of month where no one has money) or/and advertising for the show. It's something to build on that's for sure, and if they can attract some good guests for next time then well worth considering.

We also had some good chats with some of the Star Wars guests; Alan Harris and Richard Bonehill had some good stuff to say and some brilliant photos.

For some reason, Matt didn't want his pic taken. This is the only decent one I got of him all weekend.
As Matt said, good venue, good guests, well organised but poorly publicised. Shame.
