    First, there was Top Gun.

Firefox took it to a whole new level.

Macross Plus took it to an extreme.

Now we have Stealth, a movie staring Jamie Foxx, Josh Lucas and Jessica Biel.

I was lamenting just a few weeks ago how with modern technology, how easy it would be to make a new era of Jet Jockey films.

It seems my prayers *may* have been answered.

If you haven't seen the trailer, give it a go.

Now Jamie Foxx is brilliant, so as long as the script is good it should balance things out. Jessical Biel is rather blah and Josh Lucas I haven't seen enough of to judge.

The plot seems fairly simple, but then again, so was Top Gun and Macross Plus.

I remain cautiously optomistic this movie will revive one of my most favorite "forgotten genres" the fighter jock movie.

Simple summer fluff. I doubt that it's going to be a critical hit. I wouldn't be surprised if it does well at the box office, provided that there's nothing huge around it.

What I'm saying though, is that if it does well it has a chance to breathe life back into a dead genre.

I just looked at the trailer. VERY cool. This could definetly revive the fighter jock movie.

I saw this trailer and thought like a movie-to-game director.
" Now we have this license called " Star Fox". Now instead of space, we make in in air. And instead of animals, we have hot actors. But we put Jaime Foxx in it as " Star Fox". And we'hh have a ring in it. A ring of FIRE and call it Halo! Brilliant!"

I doubt that you could even call it a genre. There's only so much you can do with fighter pilots and their adventures.

    Quite a bit actually.

    Take the Iron Eagle series.

Iron Eagle I-III kicked ass. IV and V should just be forgotten. :p

I mean, come on, Hercule Poirot as a mustach twirling, "I want... these American pigs... BLOWN out of the SKY!" :D

Still love that scene in III where the British pilot waves the MIG up to his Spitfire... and then pulls out a grenade launcher and blows it in half.

    He he, good times.

LOL! Oh yeah, I remember that. They take on MIGs in Mustangs and Spitfires. That was cool. It was rediculou, but so cool at the same time. Especially the British with the elephant gun and the bullseye in the middle of his flight cap. That was so funny.

I have to agree with you IE4 though. I should have been the best one, considering that Doug Masters comes back and is now a properly trained pilot, and it wasn't like that at all though. Personally I though it was really stupid.
