    Hey games pals,

I'm looking into the best ways to play X-wing/Tie Fighter/XWvTF/Alliance, and wondered how people are playing these games in 2020. There's probably a lot of really amazing mods that I've not found out about yet, beyond XWA upgrade (https://xwaupgrade.com/), and the XWVM (https://www.moddb.com/mods/xwvm).

Has anyone had any luck with any of the VR mods?

Just took a quick look over at the X-wing Alliance section on the Steam discussion boards...and it looks like people are using Gameranger to play online.

For the classic TIE, I use DOSBox. There's a GOG version that's sufficient, although I don't like the soundcard setup that they use so I tend to put the files in their own separate DOSBox install with better configuration.

For XWA, I use the converted exe someone made that lets it run on 64-bit systems and then just run off of my old CDs. But I think GOG has it as well. I've never tried to see how well the XWAUpgrade patches work on the GOG version because the CD does the trick.

The Steam version is compatible with Windows 10, right? I got them along with a bunch of stuff in the Star Wars collection sale a while back...but I haven't gotten around to installing or playing them.
