Leia has been appearing in comcis a lot like with Star Wars Tales #15 First Impressions Do or Do Not Lucky Stars Now those were some pretty cool stories about Leia. First Impressions was interesting, shows Leia sticking up for a defenseless non-human. Plus she meets Palpatine which was interesting. Do or Do Not more Luke and her Talking but I liked it. Lucky Stars was my Favorite Leia teaming up with some other tough ladies like herself to make sure the empire don't get their hand on some rebel serects. Leia shows off her hand to hand combat skills in this one. Then there is one in Star Wars Tales Volume 3 called The Princess Leia Diaries which is really really funny and shows that Leia is not your typical Princess What did everyone else think of them ? and does anyone know if there is more stories about Leia pre ANH coming out ?
There were references to her upbringing on Alderaan with Winter often being presumed the princess in the Thrawn trilogy. Other than that, there's the long-rumored A.C. Crispin Leia trilogy that's been in no way confirmed by anyone.
Thats a sweet rumor though ......that is the same dude that did a great job with the Han Solo trilogy. I remember that in one of the Han Solo books he has to make a pitstop on Alderaan cause he ran into pirates or something and the welcoming message to Alderaan I think shows Princess Leia but they don't state her name but you can figure out it is probably her.
Same chick, to be exact. The A stands for Ann. Either way, those books seem to be universally liked on these boards.
There's also the SW Radio Drama which has several scenes leading up to ANH with Leia in them, additionally part of the Radio Drama was adapted into Empire # 5 & 6, alongside some original Leia material.
That's true, the Radio Drama. Leia and Bail's cover-up of Lord Tion's death I found very interesting.
A.C. Crispin is a lady, not a dude. And she did make an allusion to Leia in The Paradise Snare, though she never actually appeared in the book.
Leia is in the book; Han sees a hologram of Bail Organa, and an 8-year-old Leia is sitting on his knee.
And there were also several rather descriptive flashbacks in Children of the Jedi to Leia's upbringing on Alderaan, as relating to the story at hand.
Nothing against those of you who liked Crispin's HST but I would rather she not do any pre-ANH Leia stories. Having read both Traitor and finishing up Shatterpoint, I think Matthew Stover would be an interesting choice to write a pre-ANH Leia story. He does very well with solitary characters in harrowing situations and since he focused on Jacen Solo and Mace Windu, it would be an interesting challenge to have him take on the leading female Star Wars character, Leia Organa.
Why would you prefer to see her not right a Leia trilogy? She did an excellent job with her Han Solo Trilogy and would be likely to bring the same level of excellence to a Leia trilogy.
Crispin would be my absolutely last choice to ever write a pre ANH Leia book (or SW book at all), for various reasons I won't go into detail here about. If there are going to be books about Leia before ANH, I think Denning or Allston would be the best choices. Denning especially has excellent characterizations of Leia.
PUGGY WROTE: Anything Han/Leia-centric. After Tatooine Ghost, I'm ready for more books focusing on the only SW couple I like, heh. - Han and Leia pre-ESB. - Han and Leia post-TAB/COPL/TG, but pre-HTTE: somewhere in there where they get a chance to really "settle" into life on Coruscant. - And, I would really like to see backstory of Leia Organa. NILE WRITES: ditto puggy. especially pre-esb adventures for JUST han and leia, a redo on the post-rotj relationship of han and leia...including getting rid of prince fabio aka isolder in copl, and maybe a wedding? luke showing up late-the end doesnt cut it. also a sequel to tatooine ghost by troy denning. also puggs...only sw couple you like, try only sw characters period!
about pre-anh... id like to see some stuff where she becomes the leia we all know, her relationship with bail organa and her hatred towards vader building. also some early workings of the rebel alliance and her involvement.
To answer your question Knight1192, I'm not a fan of Crispin's writing style. When I think of a "Han Solo trilogy," I think of the late Brian Daley's works. Troy Denning or Matthew Stover would be my choices. Allston would be good, as well. Both the Marvel comics and Dark Horse comics have featured stories where Leia meets up with Darth Vader alone. That would be an interesting focus, particularly since we know that he is her father. I would like to see something along the lines of Leia's first real mission for the Rebel Alliance (which might be post-ANH) or a life-altering event that made her decide to join the Alliance's cause and deliver the Death Star plans.
>>I would like to see something along the lines of Leia's first real mission for the Rebel Alliance (which might be post-ANH) or a life-altering event that made her decide to join the Alliance's cause and deliver the Death Star plans.<< That's more or less what her scenes in the Radio Drama cover.
True, the Radio Drama scenes do touch on it but I would like to see it more fleshed out. Or, perhaps a story dealing with why she went into politics?
