Solo Stormtroopers in Solo

Since we had a thread about the stormtrooper variants (such as shoretroopers and death troopers) in Rogue One, I figured an equivalent thread for Solo makes sense. We'll probably see regular stormtroopers as well (but I don't think they've been in the trailers yet), but we know there are three new variants introduced in this movie:

There are plenty of regular Stormtroopers in the Spaceport (Big Game Trailer) and then there's the Mimban Stormtrooper who looks like a regular Stormie but with a black cloak and covered in mud.

 

The Range Trooper might be my favorite variant yet. Awesome design. The Mud Trooper is a close second. The patrol trooper is okay. Although I kinda feel like it would be more at home in the ST. It has a First Order vibe to me.

 

What with all that mud on Mimban I'm sure there's one of these at the Base entrance;

I am really digging the range trooper- the costume with the fur and those boots look so cool!

 

I like the patrol trooper and the mud trooper. Oh, and the cape on the mimban trooper.

 

the mudtrooper helmet and goggles are similar as the at-st troopers in rotj.

 

Yeah, it's cheap gear for the cannon-fodder.

 

They still won't be able to shoot for ****!

Kinda makes you wonder why the empire never made a forest trooper with all the variants we've seen now. Heck they had camo clone troopers on kashyyyk in ROTS at least.

 

Have to say I didn’t like the Rangetrooper at first, it just looked too over-the-top. But its definitely growing on me having seen better images, and it fits in well with the R1 designs.

All in all, the ST included, I really love the new trooper designs we're getting in the new era so far.

 

You do not want to get pulled over by this guy.

I really love that they have a diverse selection of Stormtrooper load-outs. It's a subtle but effective way to do world building. Each costume tells you something about the planets they are stationed on. The patrol trooper kind of has a Judge Dredd look to him. Space fascism!

 

Those Mud Troopers look great! They'll give the Death Troopers a run for their money for looking amazing!

Seriously - How do they get the OT era troopers sooo right and the ST era troopers sooo wrong...?? The only FO guys that look any good (imo) are the Praetorian Guard, and even then the original Royal Guards look way better! They really haven't nailed down the look of the FO at all...

The only ones I am not sold on are the Range Troopers - So I will wait to see them in action/how they move etc
