    HOME circumcision

This is a tale of blood, religion, insanity, and general tomfoolery.

And this is why blatant stupidity should be made illegal.

For reference, in my religion, circumcision for religious purposes is a mortal sin.

Well, it is. That's what Negligence and Recklessness statutes are for.

But as awful as this is, legally it isn't the same thing as having a criminal motive. Still, insanity.

I don't think the judge made the wrong decision on the criminal intent. She did not dismiss this due to religion, she just confirmed that in her mind the guy is nuts.

My brother and I were circumcised, but then again, we were infants who had it done in a hospital by trained professionals.

Really? So how come people can still win lawsuits for microwaves not having a "Do not use for drying pets" sign (and other insane stuff), instead of just being pointed and laughed at?

That's civil law, and it's separate from criminal law.

You said "blatant stupidity should be made illegal," meaning that it should be a crime. Civil court is not criminal court.

Also, what the **** could the legal definition of "blatant stupidity" be? Buying scratch-off lotto tickets?

    EDIT: I hate you, solojones.

Er, or just not understanding them. What part of "Ancient Israelites" sounds like "Christians of any nation" to people ? This dude seems to have ignored the fact that there's an entire discussion in the New Testament about whether Jewish laws needed to be followed in the new era of Christ, and ultimately the answer was no. I mean, Jesus himself was out there picking grain on the Sabbath and basically saying "the time for following the law in this prescriptive manner is over. Your new covenant is not a circumcision of the body, but of the heart through baptism and a change of heart."

Very paraphrased, of course :p But I just can't stand when supposed Christians turn straight to either half of the Bible without understanding the whole context. Some read the NT and ignore the fact that it references the OT every few lines. Some read the OT and imagine wistfully that we should return to the covenant of the Israelites while ignoring the fact that, Biblically, that time is passed. Oy

he fed him some mead a biblical beverage made from honey lay him on the kitchen floor, stretched his penis across a cutting board and cut off part of the foreskin.

When asked in court whether the man used ice to ease the boy's pain, he replied, "Where would the Israelites have found ice?"

He then applied the Wonder Dust, gave the boy some ice cream and told him he could watch whatever movies he wanted that week

And even then, it's a rather despicable practice that needs to be stopped, IMHO. Everyone deserves intact genitals.

"And where did you receive your doctorate, sir?"

    "I don't have one."

    "Really? None at all?"

    "No."

"But I suppose you followed acceptable medical procedures in performing this operation."

    "I followed scriptural procedures."

"Ah . . ." *turns to table* "Yes, tell us about . . . this." *holds up tankard labeled "MEAD"*
