Poor girl. She deserves all that money. In one other news story I read, after her clothes were taken from her all she had to cover herself with was an apron.

Besides, don't people have the common sense anymore to know when something funny like this is going on? If someone on the phone told me they were a cop and wanted me to strip-search someone, I'd say "Come down here in person and do it yourself" and hang up on them. The girl should've fought it as long as possible, say things like "I'm not going to submit to a strip search unless there's a real cop and my lawyer present", but that's just easy to say in hindsight.

I know what this is about, and honestly, this girl should have gotten way more than she did.

Here's the thing: McDonald's Corporate was well aware that this hoax had occurred at other locations, yet never notified their owner/operators/franchisees about the situation. That would've taken what, about 5 minutes max to type up a corporate-wide email?
And the pyshciatrist in the case said it was a 'learning experience' for her. How utterly evil.

 

I understand she was 18 when this happened.

 

I remember reading about that-- here, I think. All the people who participated are complete idiots, including the woman who received the settlement. That's not to say she shouldn't have gotten the money, though. Management forced her to strip and perform sex acts; six million dollars is due compensation for that.

 

Disgraceful that such abuse could go on for as long as it did.

subtract that from 21,and that still puts her real close to 17.5/18
which technically,and not accounting for local ages of consent and all

They need to concentrate on hiring managers that aren't so ****ing incompetent they'd actually let some stranger on the phone talk them into strip searching an employee. The whole story makes me sick, and I wished she'd actually been awarded the 200 million she was going for, especially since she was sexually assaulted on top of everything else.

 

What constitutes "sex acts"?

 

They had authority over her. She could reasonably expect some sort of reprimand from them for refusing to cooperate, which means they're at fault. It'd be the same thing if they forced her to work off the clock or something.

Oral sex is a sex act, unless you share Bill Clinton's opinion.

 

I would have fought my way right out of this situation. Clawing eyeballs, stomping testicles, whatever it took.

 

And believe it or not, this cost them much much more (by a factor of 10) than the infamous coffee case.
