Does anyone have, seen, or know of someone who has a replica-style Darth Maul costume? Im not interested so much in the makeup and all... just the outfit. All of my costumes have been customed made, and the people Ive spoken with all price-quote me pretty high. I've seen 2 great costumes so far: www.dmeb2.org/features/scottmaul3.html and www.maulrat.org

I just wanted to know if any of you here know any resources.

    Thanks.

the first person i saw with a dm costume was sith vixen (www.sithvixen.com), i instantly got inspired and in less than two years i decided to have one myself. for reference i used several pics of people with darth maul costumes and a 12" figure that pretty much detailed the clothing...my seamstress did a wonderful job in recreating it.

i ordered my cloak here, , they have the complete costume there.

If you want one that is screen-accurate you'll probably never find one. LOL

I know of only one person who has a screen used Darth Maul costume and after seeing it and comparing it to many people's I have yet to see one that is even close. Most base their costumes off of the doll and the Pepsi Darth Maul Statue. The problem is that neither of them are accurate. Plus finding the right materials and the right boot can be quite expensive. The guy who owns a screen used Maul has yet to find the exact fabric for the pants. Not to mention the costume itself is made from like 5 different materials if I remember correctly. Well...two are the same type of material but different weights. Oh, and none of which are the homespun used on many Jedi tunics. Oh and the cloak material is also hard to find.

I know what I have just said will probably upset a lot of people. but it is the truth from what I have seen. I'm not trying to bash anyone's costume if that is what anyone thinks. I am just very detail oriented when it comes to accuracy. That's all.

Does the person also have the Outer Robe too?

I'm very interested to know from where the pleats start (action figures showed it from the shoulder but many argued that it has to start around mid-bust to support those pleats) and wherther each pleat is sew down to keep its pleat.

I guess I shouldn't have used the word "replica-style" in my original post. I really wasn't looking to get the exact material, material weight, etc. I just wanted to get someting that I knew was not a 'universal' (one-size-fits-all) outfit that was bought from a store or online somewhere; but at the same time can hold hold its own... thats why I love the guy's costume in www.maulrat.com. =)

Being also a fan of older martial arts/kung fu films from the Shaw Brothers reminds me of how Mauls' costume would move, flow, & twirl like those of "The 5 Deadly Venoms", "The Kid with the Golden Arm", etc. I can actually see myself trying to perform acrobatic moves if I had a Mauls' costume, [face_laugh], that is before I fall flat on my a$$.[face_blush]

Since that thread I started a while back, I'm very happy to say that I do own the D. Maul costume thanks to Brenda, from kropserkel. Excellent work they do. Do keep in mind the delivery time (since they're located outside of the U.S.) if you do need it in a hurry. My face-paint, replica double-saber, and fx contacts I got from another source.

I have a custom-made Maul costume (a friend of mine and I made it) and we got it as movie accurate as we could get. The only problem with it is that we accidentally made the tunics too short. I'm going to fix that in the future.

I'll get some pics and post them, if you like.

Hmm. Sadly, these pics don't show the costume very well. I'll take some shots of each individual piece and post them. The upper half of the costume is just about dead on. It's the lower half that'll need some adjusting in the future.

Actually, for a home-made costume, thats a real nice Maul outfit. Props to you. Very nice!=D=

One thing I noticed when putting mines on was that because its basically an inner coat AND outer coat, I do get warm pretty fast. And when I start jumping, flipping, and doin his Wu-shu style moves, things heat up fast.;)

But overall, I absolutely LOVE his costume! I turn into a different person everytime I have it on - makes me feel not only naughty, but Sith naughty... hehehe[face_devil]

I did the inner tunic and the outer tunic as well. However I made it out of a very loosely woven fabric so that I don't get too hot too quick. And if I do get hot, I just take the outer tunic off.

And yeah...you can't help but scowl when you put the costume on. Makes you feel... bad...but good.

    Hey NEMES1S!

Just saw your post! I couldn't see your photos, hope your costume came out well. I was scrambling to get my Maul costume ready with just 3 weeks before Halloween! Were you in Waikiki? I'm still trying to get a little more accuracy on my Maul costume. I'll be ready next year.....

    Sonny, checked out your album:
Dude, your Maul costume looks great! Was it home-made or professionally sewn? Where'd you get the horns too? Are those pics from this past Halloween? Actaully I was trying to stay away from Waikiki-side. I went to town later only to pickup the DVD Ep.3 from Walmart. Maybe next year, when Darth Maul's Master Replica FX lightsaber is released, we can meet up or something.

    Later.

    Phil,

The costume was actually made by a local girl named Lisa Woo I met at a fashion show in the Sheraton Waikiki Ballroom. She is an up and coming fashion designer, when her runway models were on the catwalk they BLEW everyone away! I gave her all the photos I could find from the internet, Obi-Wan's Jedi Academy sketches, KROPSERKEL photos, and movie still shots. She drew up her own design sketches based on the info I gave her and did the inner and outer coat, even made the belt from scratch!! It wasn't cheap but it came out EXACTLY like the KROPSERKEL edition. What did you pay for your costume from KROPSERKEL? (PM or e-mail me if need). As for the horns, the guy in the photo with me (Masaki from Japan) is really into special effects makeup; he actually designs video game software for KONAMI but his true passion is SFX. He did my makeup and MADE my horns out of latex in his home oven!! The horns are pretty close to the real deal but he says this time was a trial run, next year it will be EXACTLY like the originals. I can't wait till Darth Maul's edition FX saber comes out next year, I couldn't make a good copy in time this year. Let me know where you'll be when it comes out and we can meet. I plan to head out early and check out all the spots, Aloha Tower, Restaurant Row, and Waikiki.

    SITH POWER!!

Sheesh... talk about the person with all the right connections!:D Wow you got all the right hookups!! Have you seen or heard of our local 501st guys here? They're the guys who parade as Star Wars villians in all their glory from place to place (www.pac501st.com). You really should be there. They've got almost all the main characters (and less important ones), but no Maul to my knowledge. Give it a shot man! You're more convincing than I am.

I'll email you my pic then at your hotmail address.

    Later.

I'd eventually like to re-do my husbands Darth Maul costume. He originially did it back in '99 before seeing the movie and I'm sure there are many upgrades that can be made.

If this is the only Darth Maul thread - could it get added to the index of character costumes so that I can find it again? I didn't see a Darth Maul thread in the index at all.
